Yes it does qualify. 1929 is more than 50 years ago and does fit in our description of a Classic. Does not matter the read as long as it is at least 50 years old.

Every book written by William Faulkner is a classic per our club’s standard as they were all written pre-1972, 50 years ago. (Faulkner died in 1962).

Just finished The Portrait of a Lady by Henry James, 1881.The edition I read was the Heritage Press edition written on very large paper with a more readable sized font. Each HPE comes with its own box in which to shelve and store. The large page edition makes for fewer total pages to read. I could not find the HPE on goodreads. The total pages are 516 not including the forward which I enjoyed reading.

I own several of them. Our public library has several of them, as well. The Portrait of a Lady was a copy owned by the library.
