The Amazing Race Team Challenge - Round 4 - Tracking/Q&A/Announcements

Thank goodness I'd answered this question before, because my brain could not process an answer!
This is not a team decision, you can all read books set on different continents as long as they qualify. For this task, we will be using the 7 continent model as described on wikipedia - GR will not let me link to that though. 😒 (Now you can see how confused I can get!) So, the UK is part of Europe, it may not be in the EU anymore, but it is still part of the continent. North and South America are different continents. And New Zealand is part of Australia. I know there are many models of thinking about this, but this seems to divide things up the most without getting too confusing. Remember the books can be partially set on a different continent - as long as it there enough that it shows as a setting or is tagged, that is enough.
The link can be found in the following message:

It appears that you can longer link to outside websites on GR. I know many of you in the past have linked to Amazon for page count if one was not listed on GR. Going forward, just comment in your completion posts that the page count can be found on Amazon.Remember we only use the first edition Kindle page count for this challenge! If there is a page count listed on GR - that is the one that should be used. Only use Amazon if there is no Kindle page count listed here. If the page count listed on Amazon is different, it is likely a different edition.
For -53. Each teammate reads a book set in one of your teammates' home town (born in, raised in, currently live in - all work), teams decide. No pass for this task.
Do we each need to pick a different teammates town?

For that task, as a team you select one teammate and then everyone reads a book set in that teammate's hometown. Remember you are free to use the state if within the US or the country if outside the US.

Here you go, a little early. About to head home from the grocery store, and those that know me know that is an hour drive!First Task - All Teams!
0. Each teammate reads a book initially published in a fall month, teams decide which month.
As a team select a fall month. Fall this year is from September 22 through December 21 - so you may select September, October, November or December, then everyone reads a book initially published in the selected month of any year. For this task, use the initial publication date. If there is a date listed at the top of the editions page - use it! Otherwise I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification. Please include the selected month in your completion posts.
Hi Kat,To clarify which version to use, I know you mentioned Kindle edition for page count. How about for publish date? (I want to make sure I am usng the correct one.) For instance, would Going Down on One Knee be September (first published) or October (Kindle Edition?) Thanks!

That book was first published on September 25, 2018 - so if your team selected September that book works. The first edition Kindle page count is 324 - from the edition published on October 15, 2018. That is the earliest dated Kindle edition.
A reminder and a request from me. 😊Please remember that books CANNOT be started before the task is assigned!! This is the case for all challenges in RRRC - books have to be entirely within the challenge/task timeframe.
Please if you are doing Selection and Completions Posts - make sure they are clearly identified as such. Either way, please make sure that your Completion Posts are clearly marked as Completion Posts.
I did check but I couldn't find an answer - For the page count if there isn't one on Goodreads, would amazon be acceptable? Thanks
Completion post questionI know to link the first kindle edition for the page count. But if we listen to, or read a different version, do we link that version as well?

Yes, if there is not one listed on GR you can use the Amazon page count. Please just include that is where the page count is from - you can't link to outside websites on GR anymore.

I really don't care what book link you use as long as it is to the book you read. 😉 I do care that the number you have for the page count is correct. I will check the editions page for the publication date and page count either way. The only time I wouldn't check the editions page to confirm the page count is if the book is labeled as first edition in the book details. 😊

I saw the reply for my question...As long as it is listed as a series on GR, it will work for this round
Just one more question.
I know if it says book 1 book 2 that qualifies.
But what if at the top it says it's a series...but none of the books are listed as book 1 book 2 and so on.
Such as
Magic Emporium Series

This is going to depend on the task. Some will require the series to be numbered, but some won't. If you have a specific one in mind, please let me know and I will answer again later.
