Shannon (pokey36) | 1992 comments Pandora Pine probably has the most books. Don't know if they all have audio versions but a lot do. Why don't we use her for the author. Easy!

Shannon, how did you make your "5 favorite books" list? I am having problems picking them because I don't actually have much recall of books that I read because of my brain glitch... I tried looking at the books that I gave 5-stars, but there are tons of them... grr

Then I thought, I need to keep them 200 pages or less... then I thought I should pick 5 that none of you have read... then I was bouncing from tab to tab and got a headache and now I just want to quit... *headdesk* ;p

I MAY be overthinking this...

Oh, and they need to be available in audio... *whines* Why me? LOL!!!

Happy to - any particular category? There are three that require same author and two that need same series.

I know that you will all need to pick while I am asleep, so happy to go with whichever. I know I have a Pandora book in audio, in both the Cold Case Psychic and Haunted Soul series.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Ok - the only ones I haven't filled in a decision for

#71. the team that we use to select a book that they have read for this challenge.
#84. RRRC Monthly challenge category (will pop up later in the challenge and likely an October or November option)
#88. Read 6 books with a boat, plane, car or motorcycle on the cover.
I just don't want a plane, but can work with the other three :)

Hopefully I haven't missed anything on the original list. They are pretty easy to skip over...

I don't even remember what books I picked. Let me look....I think I went with a coupe that were shorter, a couple with audiobooks and a couple from a new author I just discovered and loved. I didn't check to make sure you each had at least one you could choose.

Its a later option as well. We have time to work that one out...

...We are monitoring for twins in a young heifer at the moment; and have just finished feeding what I am pretty sure is a doomed (oxygen-deprived) calf. But he's getting stronger, so who knows 🤷‍♀️

So anyway - still haven't made it to bed. Have to go back and see if there are more feet poking out. High tech stuff here 🧐

Will Jane be up by 6? I think she is 12 hours or such ahead of me, right? (You are 5 hours ahead of me, right?) and Shannon is like 3 hours behind me... this is so confusing! I am going to make a sticky note once you give me the right times! *grin*

And then all of you go into daylight or come of daylight savings and you throw me out! We don't shift our clock in my state so I always struggle to work it out 😵

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments We are back in the yards to milk the mother and feed the calf this morning. I'll try to keep an eye on my phone but please decide without me if we need a team decision.

Pretty sure the first task will be a standard one. I think last round it was read a book set in Ireland or with an Irish character...?

message 70: by Jane (PS), Moderator (last edited Sep 21, 2021 05:52PM) (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments We have our call!!

0. Each teammate reads a book initially published in a fall month, teams decide which month.

As a team select a fall month. Fall this year is from September 22 through December 21 - so you may select September, October, November or December, then everyone reads a book initially published in the selected month of any year. For this task, use the initial publication date. If there is a date listed at the top of the editions page - use it! Otherwise I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification. Please include the selected month in your completion posts.

Looks like September is the choice.

Well, unless we want to read a Christmas story, maybe we should go with September, October, or November... Shannon, your thoughts?

I vote for September because I want to read Jonty's Halloween... *grin*

Review:
I can't believe no one else has noticed how exhausting this book is... LOL!!!

As always, Jonty's life is never boring! Throw in some zombies, one scary clown, and what would appear to be some absolutely disgusting-looking food that tastes amazing, and you have the beginnings of a day in the life of Jonty Bloom!

I've probably said it before, but it must be an extremely scary place inside of Ms. Elsborg's head... just sayin'! ;P

It was great to see the whole gang in this one... I am a sucker for a series that is "family" oriented!!!

Fun little read. I haven't read these in any kind of order which would probably help in knowing all the characters but it didn't take away too much from the story. A bit of action, a bit of alpha-omega sexiness...what more could a girl want?

Hi Shannon - I think your completion post still shows as selection? I’m on my phone so can’t see the full post 🙄

message 85: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments So - I've just washed my earpods/airpods. In the washing machine. With one ear piece having a lovely tumble around.

I was sure they would be cactus, so I immediately bought another pair from Apple whilst the 'pods were being washed.

Pulled out the washing just before - and they still WORK!! What the? (Not sure if the sound quality is exactly the same, but function perfectly well. And they are now 'clean' 🧐)

Not sorry I bought another pair since these would have to be 3 or 4 years old and the pod batteries were discharging fairly quickly. But I was concerned about how I was going to easily read my books for challenges 😆

Dex and Sloane have moved to TIN and embark on an horrific mission. I shed a few tears of sadness and happiness throughout the book. I'm glad that there were plenty of appearances by the old gang and family.
Can't wait for book 2 in April.

I love the mix of relationships with convoluted ghost mysteries. The dynamics feel real but fun (mostly). And I love Dakota and his snark. Really hoping we see more of him!

From the ending, it appears there will be more in this series ~ fingers crossed they will also be in audio.

🙄 One earbud works (the one that tumbled around in the machine!) and the charger seems to work. The other one sounds like it is underwater still 😆

I splashed out and bought both the standard earpods and a set of the pro! I use them ALL the time so I know they won't sit around ;) And sometimes that noise cancelling stuff could be really useful!

I have never owned any... you know, me being frugal (some have called me a "penny pincher") and all! hehehe

Actually, my ears are shaped funny inside and they won't fit in right... and when I use my regular Dollar Tree listening devices, I can only wear one side at a time... something about when my eardrums were damaged several years ago. When I try to wear both I get a HUGE reverberation... grr *headdesk*

It is amazing the things that we wash in our washing machines over the years, but my one rule is that if I find money... it is MINE! *grin*
