No nothing that I can find...

From Goodreads Support overnight:

Thanks for your message! Although I definitely understand the speculation surrounding this issue and, considering the fact that it is affecting many members, we can still assure you that this hasn't been 'turned off for good'. Our developers are aware of the importance of getting this fixed and are currently working on it — they are thoroughly investigating the email deliverability issue to find the root cause and resolve the issue. Given this, however, unfortunately we do not yet have a timeframe for when this will be resolved – I'm sorry about that!

message 203: by Icewineanne (new)

Icewineanne | 267 comments I lost my email notifications some time ago. Miss the emails so much. GR doesn’t even send the comments that people have sent directly to me…very annoying! The only emails I receive now are the heads-up notices for monthly book reads 😢

message 204: by Sarah (last edited Aug 26, 2021 02:59PM) (new)

Sarah | 1543 comments Has anyone else had comments rejected for including non-GR weblinks in the < a ref > format? I have often used these in the past and found it quite annoying. Although it's stated to be "for the safety of our members" I can't help but assume it's Amazon being anti-competitive.

Yes that's a new thing Sarah - https://help.goodreads.com/s/announce...

It's ridiculous all the things they're doing - this plus the stopping of email notifications are only 2 of them.

Email notifications are BACK!! My first came through at 5.37am this morning!! Fingers crossed it'll stay fixed!

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3564 comments Because trying to use the app has been incredibly frustrating - my computer screen captured itself and due to lockdown has to be collected for repair and then returned. Still waiting (a week later) for collection…sigh…

Oh no Leonie!!! You need a back up computer!!! Fingers crossed you'll have it soon!

Haha!! I thought that was some computer talk I wasn't aware of Leonie!!!

This is not a bug, but something GR has done in its wisdom!

For people who use links in their reviews etc - Just a heads up GR has now decided to block all external links. The only way to post links to to add spaces.

And something that will affect all of us - It also seems that everyone's messages have been defaulted to friends only so this is causing mods one of my other groups some problems. I know several of you are also mods so I wanted to pass along the information so you can update your setting so members can message you and if you send out newsletters or group messages you can let your members know to update their settings to keep receiving them.

Go to your profile, then to 'settings' and scroll down. You'll see that the default of 'friends only' is clicked. If you want it for everyone to be able to message you (your mods, for example, if we're not friends) change it to 'anyone' then click 'Save' at the bottom :)

Thanks for this information from another group's moderator :)

I just changed mine. You need to got to your profile, then Edit Profile, then settings and scroll down.
If you are not friends with Brenda and me then you will not receive group reminders about challenges etc. if you are set to friends only.

message 214: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79977 comments Mod
Sorry, I missed that step!! Why would they do that???

message 215: by Phrynne, Series Queen! (new)

Phrynne | 15793 comments Mod
I have absolutely no idea. But my broadcast message about the October challenge will only have reached the members I am friends with.

message 216: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79977 comments Mod
Yes and how frustrating is that! Hopefully people will find the challenge when they visit - and also knowing it's due :)

message 217: by PattyMacDotComma (new)

PattyMacDotComma | 3297 comments What a nuisance. I suspect the issues with links is the number of spam comments we're getting with links to goodness-knows-what. Ads or scams or worse. We can't seem to flag them fast enough.

I guess we can write out links and remind people how to copy and paste into the address bar so they can read reviews by the NY Times and not just us! 😊

Thanks for this. I just fixed mine. It took me a while to find the correct spot, but it's done now. (Hopefully)

It's a pain that we have to manually fix something which was right in the first place!

message 220: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 9836 comments You'd think there would have to be someway for GR to allow Mods to message everyone in the group.

message 221: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79977 comments Mod
They took away the Events which we used to use every month - the one where you used to say 'yes', 'no', and 'maybe' to, about 3 or so months ago. Now we have to broadcast our messages to the groups!

message 222: by Carolyn (last edited Sep 22, 2021 09:52PM) (new)

Carolyn | 9836 comments So if they want you to do that, they should allow you to actually be able to contact the whole group. Not sure they've thought it through!

message 223: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79977 comments Mod
Do they ever??? I've always said "Don't fix what ain't broke" and GR seems to do it all the time!!

message 224: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1543 comments Anyone else finding that the "Add book/author" link is "not available" for approximately the last 24 hours? It's really damaging my reviewing mojo!

message 225: by Leonie (new)

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3564 comments My Life as a Book - was just able to add this, Sarah. I wonder if it's just you, or more people?

message 226: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1543 comments Leonie wrote: "My Life as a Book - was just able to add this, Sarah. I wonder if it's just you, or more people?"

It only seems to be happening in reviews, not comments, which is a bit weird...

Yes, it looks like it, which is good (for everyone else!). I'm going to do a restart and hope for the best. This is the message I'm getting, just in case anyone else is experiencing problems:

Oh what a pain!! I hope you get it back and soon!! Good luck :)

message 230: by Janelle (new)

Janelle | 635 comments I’m not sure how long this has been happening or if it’s just a glitch but when I ignored a friend request (from someone with no books) they got added to my friend list anyway. So now I’ve got another request I want to ignore but I’m just leaving this guy waiting!

message 231: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79977 comments Mod
Just leave them waiting Janelle. I think I read in the Help section somewhere a couple of weeks ago that this was happening. Did you delete the first one when you discovered it?

message 232: by Janelle (new)

Janelle | 635 comments Deleting doesn’t work either, Brenda. I got another message saying “you are now friends with so and so” when I tried!

message 233: by Helen (new)

Helen (helen57) | 3408 comments It happened to me as well Janelle, I went back in a ignored again and it seems to have gone and I have been getting lots of friend requests from men with no book lately and now one of them messaged me to ask how I was creepy

But you can 'unfriend' them can't you? I've unfriended people. And then you can block him so he can't see your profile.

Block them Helen! Any doubts about them, block them. And if you don't know how, click on their profile, their picture to take you to their page. Then where it says 'Add Friend', beside that says 'more'. Click on the 'more' and you'll see in red 'block this user'. Just click on that, confirm and it'll be done :)

message 236: by Janelle (new)

Janelle | 635 comments I can’t seem to unfriend, Brenda. That’s what I did with that one and they’re still there, on my list, they haven’t messaged me or anything so I haven’t blocked yet.

I ignore those messages if I get them, Helen! Then block them, like Brenda said, if they become pests.

message 237: by Kylie (new)

Kylie | 113 comments Thank's pointing me in the direction of this Janelle, I have been experiencing the exact same issues with friend requests, if I delete they still get added to my account, If I block them, I get another friend request from same person. Nothing appears to be working.

message 238: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 9836 comments I'm wondering if this could be related to the glitch I have at the moment which is friend requests from people I've just accepted appearing repeatedly in my friend requests.

I've approved a few twice but they have just reappeared again. I'm ignoring the requests for now as I'm sure this must be happening to others as well and hoping GR will sort it out.

So even though though you've clicked ignore request , perhaps the repeat requests are part of the same glitch - doesn't explain why they've been approved by GR though.
