I opened a bookpage. There was a box that invited me to see the beta version.

You'd be a multi millionaire by now!

Text from box: Goodreads is testing a new design for this page, and we’d love your feedback. Check out the new book page here.

It's the same as when the changed the "user homepage".
Brenda wrote: "Thanks Jonquil. Did you give them feedback?"I explained that people who participate in challenges use the data they have hidden or removed. And that challenge participants buy books when they see new books in other people's challenge posts.
Then I gave them my email and said I'd love to talk with them (once a social worker, always a social worker).
Well there's something new! Is it a bug or is it staying?
I just read a review and went to comment on it - "you can't add a comment because you are not friends" Pfffff!

I've just been told that some GR members specify in their settings that they don't want people who aren't friends to comment on their reviews. First time I've come across it.
I have seen it recently too Brenda. Luckily I usually only want to comment on friend's reviews:)
Yes this particular reader reviewed on the first Lady Hardcastle - so I wanted to say she had much enjoyment ahead! lol
Brenda wrote: "I've just been told that some GR members specify in their settings that they don't want people who aren't friends to comment on their reviews. First time I've come across it."Those reviewers may have had a few nutters or rude responses to their reviews.
They could well have Anne - I wasn't aware you could put your settings like that, but I am now :)
Jonquil wrote: "Have you seen the beta version of the planned redesign of the book pages? It looks more like a sales catalog than a place to find details that help us to locate "my next read". It requires multiple..."I wrote back to them and told them it looked like a page from a retail site. I also told them I didn't like the way it's set up in the beta with your review (and others) coming up on the same page as the book details page. There also seemed to be no way to click to 'see review' like there is now so you can copy the link for posting. This would be a huge problem for Netgalley and posting in group chat rooms.
If you do get a chance to check it out, send in some feedback on any features you don't like (click on the 'beta' symbol).
I'm so glad you've written in to them Carolyn. I saw it a couple of days ago and it's hideous!!! What's the bet they'll do it, whether people want it or not. I was trying to edit a book (add page count) and on their 'new page' I couldn't find how to do that anywhere. I was starting to think I couldn't get back to the normal page when I clicked on beta!!
I hope everyone who can check it out sends in their feedback. I know we all hate a change but this doesn’t make anything better for the readers - maybe for the publishers & retailers.
I filled in the beta questionnaire, pointed out what they missed & how much I disliked the design & proposed changes. Unfortunately at this stage I think the best we can hope for, are minor changes to the overall revamp.

Why they have to continually change something that's not 'broken' is beyond me!! I guess we'll get used to it - we'll have no choice!
Thanks Brenda and Phrynne.Must be just me. Now there’s some notifications but not all of them.
Weird. Hopefully it’ll fix itself
Janelle wrote: "Have notifications gone down again? My last one was 2 hours ago."I had less this morning than I normally have, but I figure maybe it's just quiet because it's Easter weekend?
At the moment (and for the past few days) I'm not getting email notifications, then when some do come, they are about 8-10 hours after the posts were made.
Is this happening to anyone else?
Is this happening to anyone else?
My notifications are all late, I thought it was just me again!I just check new posts for my main groups when I’m on now, it’s the only way I can see what’s happening!
It's apparently site wide, GR knows about it but whether they're looking at it, who would know. I'm just wading through all my groups to see if I have any unread posts :( Time consuming!
I wondered what was happening, and have certainly noticed a few times over the past few days where GR is down for a short time where it says 'use this time to read a book' or whatever the saying they use is :)So yes, definitely happening to me, Brenda.

Yes it is happening to me as well
I too have been checking through my groups as well, I do miss getting my email every morning so as I can read them, I hope they get it fixed soon :)I thought it was just me
Brenda wrote: "I'm afraid it's site wide Helen 🙄"Fingers crossed things will be back to normal very soon :)
I hope I'm the only one affected, but have found that the "add book/author" function isn't working this morning. I also just lost a whole lot of edits when a challenge comment didn't save properly. Just in case, it might be worth testing that it's working before you waste a whole lot of time adding information. Arrrrghhhh...
Oh no!! What more can go wrong Sarah!!! With the notifications completely out of whack and now this!
Brenda wrote: "It just worked for me Sarah, when I posted my review...."Glad to hear it's working for you, Brenda! I installed a new "Smart" Modem on Friday, and our internet seems to have been a little unreliable ever since... I'll try again with the updates!
