Ordered the Aaron wolverine omnibus. Looking at the issues included, the To Hell story is the only thing I'm interested in. The rest just seemed to be a catch all for every other Wolvie story he wrote.

So what it is, it’s a 100 page artist edition (but by Dynamite instead of IDW) and the deluxe version is a 1 of 50 with a signed art piece inside. Wasn’t sure what to expect, but I added some pictures and basically on the inside cover is a slip and inside is not what I expected...
https://www.goodreads.com/photo/group...
Inside is a cardboard print of the original cover art from the Issue 4 (which is otherwise not collected in the book) and in the bottom left corner is original art by Simonson (he drew a little Apollo head) and then that signature is his original signature. I thought maybe he’d doodle inside the cover and write 1 of 50 or something. I’m still absorbing this, but I think this is cooler and overall pretty f-ing awesome.

Otherwise, I love Simonson so it’s great for me. I also loved the BSG show but not familiar with the comic.
https://www.goodreads.com/photo/group...
The pages are beautiful though and the format is he original art size (I put up a picture of its size by Absolute Watchmen and a Valiant deluxe for scale).

The box around it was not as thick as the IDW but still quite nice. Anyway more pictures are up and happy to load more if anyone wants them.

Thanks for that review Nickviola. :)
Eric, I believe it collects this (and more): https://www.instocktrades.com/TP/Imag...
Not sure if it got bumped or sold out. I think Amazon has it in stock already: https://www.amazon.com/Nightmare-Worl...

Do you like Crime noir type books, a la brubaker, Bendis' independent works? If the answer is yes, you should like Stray Bullets.

Cool, thanks, I am so/so on Bendis, but I think Brubaker is a master. I'll add it to my wishlist, is it all readily collectable in HC?

My most recent books are Golden Age Captain America Omnibus, Vol. 1
Captain America Omnibus, Vol. 1
and Captain America Omnibus, Vol. 2

You may already know, but I wasted a couple hundred dollars not knowing this the first year I collected: instocktrades has great discounts including new marvel omnibuses and DC absolutes for 50% off the first 2 weeks they are out. Plus they have free shipping if you spend more than 50 dollars (ha, like that was ever in question) and pack things super well.

Thank you!
Also thank you for site. Amazon and EBay where I get most of my comic and B&N store something. I'm glade for more sites to get comics.

I wish you luck with getting your wife to purge her book!
Welcome Alicia! I'm not too hopeful on the purge but in recent years most of her new read are ebooks, library or borrowed from friends so there hasn't been much accumulation as the used to be. At a certain point I may have to purge done of my own graphic novels....

Welcome Alicia. Once you’re all caught up on your out of print wants. You’ll likely do 99% of your purchases on IST.

I guess you are big cap fan. :D I'm thinking about getting the Brubaker run but some volumes of it are out stock... May be i will get them in the future when the out of stock volumes reprinted.

Thank you! I need to do another book purge myself! Spring cleaning time!
I like mix genre myself though I i prefer more Superhero, crime and lately drawn more to older comics and disliking most modern comics. I like Steve Rogers/CA (the real one) not the fake Nazi Cap & communist Cap they turning him into.
Hear! Hear! No Hydra Cap and no CapFalcon. I'm a Cap fan and I know Relstuart is a HUGE Cap fan.
Having said that I've never read any golden age stories. I only went back to silver age.
For crime stories, brubaker is huge for me. Any other recommendations you have would be appreciated.

Ed Brubaker was last actual good Cap writer we have. I'm avoiding Spencer and any other new runs for awhile.

Is the consensus pretty much nothing else is coming out worth picking up in HC for the month of May?

Seems like it.

If you don't mind Simon and Kirby's work then I recommend this book The Simon and Kirby Library: Crime and In the Days of the Mob.
For Golden Age it can be silly at times, less likely to be pc still have good comics. Simon and Kirby had Steve Rogers cross dress couple of times.
Also check out The Simon and Kirby Superheroes.
Yea CapFalcon I only have one of his books that's mainly because Ian Rogers is in it...Steve Rogers sons (along with Ian's sisters) they seem to erase also same person that it look like he was going to be next CA.

I hope you able to find them.

Have your tried Punisher Max? It's gotten a ton of praise from readers over the years and the OHCs were highly sought after by a lot of people. Aaron wrote a coda to the Ennis run in omnibus a year or so ago that I liked. The first Ennis (of 2) Punisher omnibus volumes was released on IST this week.
I enjoyed the first Aaron Wolverine omnibus and will pick the second half of his run in omnibus up.
Welcome to the group Alicia. I am a big Cap fan as well. :)
I have yet to read the Spencer run but I have all the single issues that I will be doing a custom bind. I have all the Cap omnibus volumes except the new Waid one (it's on the list). I've been custom binding some of the material that has not been bound in omnibus. Here is a picture of the Gruenwald (plus) run: https://www.goodreads.com/photo/group...

If you haven't read the first volume of Invincible (Eisner nominated), you should consider it. The final DLX comes out this month and I'm really looking forward to it. Vol 1:
https://www.instocktrades.com/TP/Imag...
Of note, all five of the Irredeemable hardcovers have been released and volume 4 is out of print. The cheapest priced volume on Amazon is over $300 and I saw someone complaining on social media that they missed out on buying a vol 4 copy for $100.

Hey Rel. Yup Got em and read em. Did place an order Tuesday for some new stuff and the Punisher Max, but I meant nothing good for the rest of the month.
I only have the first 3 Invincible DLX. But I have all the individual issues and kept up with it until about 12-15 months ago. When I discovered it was coming to an end, I held off so I can binge the final arc . . . I have it, just haven’t designated the time to finish it.

Hope you enjoyed Oblivion Song.
I read the first two issues of Oblivion Song last night and enjoyed it. Very interesting setting. In the letters page in the second issue Kirkman states he is currently writing issue 13. He says there is a plan for this to last several years and he has an ending to the story in mind but was not going to state how many issues the series will last because he reserves the right to grow the story along the way if it makes sense to do so.
I don't love the art but it's fine.
I read Esad Ribic's VS issues 2 and 3 last night as well. Great art but still not sure what I think about the story. I did see something indicating this series is only going to be 5 issues which is a little disappointing.
I read a couple arcs from the beginning of the new Carnage omnibus last night. It is all pretty modern material. The first story is significant because it is the origin story for another Symbiont character, Toxin. However, the dialog/writing in that story was terrible. The Carnage brief appearance from the Bendis New Avengers run was included even thought it was maybe ten pages. It does set up the next Carnage story so it made sense for it to be included. The last 16 issue run in this book is supposed to be really good but there is clearly going to be some suboptimal quality material here too.

Thank you.,

LOL!

In other news got in mail Kamandi archives volume one by Jack Kirby from DC Archive Editions. If I like it I'll get part two.
in the mail though not sure if it counts or not but The Smithsonian Collection of Newspaper comics. It big book!
The Kamandi omnibus looked really neat and I wouldn't mind checking that out. Too many books to buy them all right off though. :)

Yes. Though my book is from 1977 edition so it wouldn't contain newer ones.

It does!

I've started reading Kamandi and like Nickviola said goofy as hell. It's also one those comics you either love it or hate it.

The best thing about the golden age Cap books are the covers. The Englehart era is the age that really defined cap in a post war era. He understood back then that Captain America had to be defined in terms of changing times. So you get the Nomad cap. You get Werewolf cap. In modern times you get Bucky risen from the dead, Falcon cap, Hydra cap. Dimension X cap (which I loved). It's all good. Some stuff hits immediately, some stuff hits in retrospect, some stuff isn't for everybody.
Good thing about having an 80 year old character,, you are not happy with one story, there are al lot of other stories to read. I was a fan of Remender's take on the Character. Nick Spenser not so much. I don't pick up monthly big two books because of the price, but look forward to checking out the new Ta-nehisi Coates run on Cap when it comes out in collected edition.
Highly recommend the Kirby Omnibus, and for individual issues some of the best were one-off stories by Roy Thomas , and Don Glut, and Steve Gerber, and Roger McKenzie, mostly fill-in issues, but really superb that ran from issues 215 to about 229.
Give em a try.

April was a busy month for me as I wan to have my shelves filled, not empty. So I grabbed
Paper Girls DLX 1 - Unread yet.
Descender DLX 1 - Reading right now. It's hard to keep going as I am already rooting for Tim 21 and Driller, and they face tough times.
Ultimate Avengers Mark Millar - Read and enjoyed. As I am not a Marvel boy I seem to have less tendency to oppose the nuances of a Hulk mentor and a mouthy Cap America.
Irredeemable 3 / 4 /5 - An awesome story and I really enjoyed the nod to a popular figure at the end of book #5.
Abe Sapien - Dark and Terrible #2 - Waiting to be read after HoE 2 arrives. Or shouldn't I?
Wasteland Apocalpyse Edition #1 and #2: Well, Nick, thank you for bringing my attention to this one.
Ninjak DLX #2 - Unread, waiting to catch up in the Valiant Universe.
Global Frequency DLX - Wow. Unexpected fun.
Action Comics 80th DLX - Unread, but you need to have it, don't you?
Invincible #4 - Unread, but next on the list.
Fear Agent Library #1 - Waited a long time on my buy list, and I'm really looking forward to start that journey.
East of West Year One and Two - Unread, bought on a hunch.
Planet Hulk Omnibus - Also, was a long time on my list. Unread yet.
