First, welcome to the group.
Now, as you have heard and Alistair explained historically DC omnibuses are notoriously bad in production value. But the trend is changing bit by bit. Sure Gotham Central is not the best binding example out there, but it is not going to fall out during your reading session. To me, the bigger culprit is the thin-ish paper, It feels a little bit cheap. Do not expect Dark Horse library edition quality, and you will be fine. You probably need to take a bit more care, that is all. But, the story sure as hell worth it. I am enjoying it so much.

Scalped deluxe volume 2
Dmz deluxe volume 2
Y the last man deluxe volume 1
and the thing I'm most excited for
Absolute Preacher volume 1
I've never read any of preacher or y the last man so that'll be great and obviously continuing scalped and dmz is great too!

The Lion's Share Alias is great, loved the TV show as well.

message 1366: by Relstuart, Mod+ (new)

Relstuart | 2964 comments Mod
I too thought Alias was pretty well done. When I rank Bendis work it's probably third best for me (behind Daredevil and New Avengers). I have not read his ultimate Spider-Man.

I was excited about his new run on Iron Man when I heard Maleev is joining him again but not sure what to think with the news about Tony being replaced with a 15 yr old girl.

I liked the Wolverine book. Some good funny moments where a tough rough character tries to be the gentle mentor some circumstances call for.

message 1370: by The Lion's Share (new)

The Lion's Share I'll be getting this, just for the front cover. Looks ace.

message 1371: by Donovan (new)

Donovan | 1154 comments It's rating 4.2 and is an all inclusive story lightly surrounding the Lanterns and Kyle Rayner. Supposed to be pretty dark and violent a la Tom King.

Camilo (camilo1292) | 70 comments I don't know if this is the right place but, what do you guys think about making a OHC trade/sale thread in this group?

message 1375: by Blindzider, Moderator (new)

Blindzider | 3293 comments Mod
That would be up to Rel. Were you thinking just a thread where people list what they want to sell or buy then the two parties make the deal "offline"?

I don't mind people posting in an active thread if they have something they having something for sale or trade. But we do only have a couple dozen active members and with some of us being international I'm not sure we would drum up a lot of action here.

I went out of town this weekend and stopped into a couple stores. One had what I was looking for: a brand new, sealed copy of Incognito for cover price! Excitedly I grabbed it and headed to the cashier but on the way I noticed a huge gash/notch in the back cover, enough to sour the taste and keep me from buying it. I mentioned it to the cashier but he didn't offer up any type of discount. Still not sure if I made the right decision. :(

Hmmm, I think the book is selling for around $70 on Ebay. That defect probably lowers the value somewhat but cover price was probably not unreasonable. The only one on Ebay now is $100 from England.

OT, I bought a statue, the SDC only Koto Bruce Wayne in a tux. I think they are 1/10 scale but I like the statue and it wasn't terribly expensive. :)

That's about what I would have expected and probably would have expected. The next day they were having a "Customer Appreciation Day" and I had some thought of getting back there and trying again but I never made it.

It is, sadly the Alfred one seems to be pretty expensive now as I think they would look great next to each other. I'll have to keep my eye open for a good deal on the Alfred one.
