I am Jenny, and will be your captain, alongside Angie for our travels.
I live in Phoenix, with two kitties and a lot of books.
For those of you who are new to Wheel, welcome, and feel free to ask as many questions as you like!
For those of you who have played before, there seem to be a couple of new ways to gain points, so glance at the rules when you get a chance.
I will link important posts at the top of this thread.
Make sure you all have a Wheel shelf please.
And, please check in on this thread at least once a week so we know you are still playing.
We have several days to get to know each other before we start, and share recommendations for tasks, and hard letters, etc.

I'm serving as Jenny's Number One (hehe - any Star Trek fans?) for our travels. I am new to Wheel, but am very excited to play along with and get to know all of you!
I live in East Tennessee, work crazy hours and hardly ever sleep! Well, because books!! I have to read. Lol!
Hope everyone is looking forward to playing. Feel free to share a little about yourself, let us know if you've played before, or just chat!
Where is everyone from? What is your favorite road trip and/or road trip book?

Looking forward to the challenge. I’ve lots of lovely books lined up 😊
I’m from the UK and looking forward to getting to know you all.

Work is kicking my butt at the moment, I will be by this thread later tonight for a proper chat!

I'm currently back home in Minnesota though (since March), working again at that same office job (it's my mom's office, and not in my field, but it's nice to be able to help her out) and wanted to get back into challenges and games! I missed them and hope to continue with regular play this Fall too. Otherwise I do the self-paced challenges quite often.
I don't have a favorite book, but have been re-reading a lot of books lately so hoping to get to my actual stacks of books and e-books that I have around my parents house, since the majority of my TBR owned books are still at my apartment in KY. Can't wait to challenge myself with some new books and recs!

Hi Anna, Pleasure to meet up with you again!
Hi Abbey, Welcome to your first Wheel.....it's my first too!!
Hello everyone. Jenny, thanks for the message. I love team challenges however I am slower reader so my best estimate is one book per week. I have over 60 books on my shelf
I'm also working through a specific series really hoped it would fit
I see a few tasks options it could work for! Plan to read rules once on computer
Also heads up that I've friended the mod account however since of past internet use I'm not proud of restrict my friends list to mods and irl friends

There are enough possibilities for making books fit in this challenge that it will be pretty easy to do.

My name is Cindy and I live in Colorado. I also work in healthcare so it all has been pretty crazy lately.
This is my first wheelathon challenge, it looks fun so I thought I wouldn’t try it out 😁.
I read anything and everything. Right now I’m trying to make my way through my never ending TBR list. It grows everyday so it’s a challenge all within itself lol. I may be able to read more than 7 books per month but I didn’t want to promise a higher number if I wasn’t sure that I could complete it.

Cindy, I claimed a large number of books, so feel free to over-read whenever you want!
Angie and I are planning to create a team spreadsheet so you guys can claim letters etc once that is up, probably over the weekend sometime. I will link to it in a top post on this thread when it is ready. Feel free to go look at the official spreadsheet to get an idea of what we need to do.
Once we are up and running, you can enter books on it. If any of you are uncomfortable using the spreadsheet to enter your finished books, then you can put a completion post on this thread, and Angie or I will put it on the spreadsheet. Just let us know. I will post a completion post template in a top thread as well.
Since we are looking to get extra points whenever we can beyond the spell-it-out, there are tasks that can be completed, and genre-tags that can be used. And, bragging rights for the most "Hard Letters". I will post links to tagged books that work for each round in a top post as well.
Again, any questions are welcome. If you are unsure whether a book will work for a task, we as a team can weigh in, and if we can't decide, Angie and I will take it to the other captains.
We are also discussing adding a hard letter recommendation list to our tracking spreadsheet. So, if you run into a great book who has a character named Ulric or Zebra, you can let us all know.
More later, and so glad to have you all here!
Can I use a book started before the challenge if finished after? Assuming no but will help me plan?
Also books can't be used for tasks and spell it outs right?
Also books can't be used for tasks and spell it outs right?

The tasks and the genre tags are extra points, so yes, you can use the same book for the spell-out and task. There is an example in the official spreadsheet if that helps.
Awesome thank you. It starts January 12th so 8 days

Hi Cindy! Another Wheel newbie - it's exciting! I bet we are going to set ourselves up for playing every time, if possible, after this!

I’m Alissa and I live in Texas. I read a little bit of everything. My favorite is romance but I’ll give anything a try especially if it’s recommended by someone. I look forward to adding to my TBR list hopefully as a give and take as I read for Wheel 🤓. I think I lowballed my read number due to never knowing when life might slow me down.
Now off to find the rules and see if I have any questions.

I'll check out the BOM, since I have the audiobook of Five Feet Apart reserved. I read it when it was first released in Nov 2018, prior to the movie being released Feb 2019, so it will work as a re-read for me. I may look into Jetsetters too, it's on my list, so may as well see if I can make it work this month to get us some extra points. :)

I'm Kate and I live in Oklahoma City with my daughter (7) and our large beast of a dog (Great Pyr/Anatolian Shepherd mix).
I am the Director of Programming for the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma (meaning I'm in charge of all the classes, special events, education programming, consulting with churches, etc). I usually travel a lot but right now I think I'm not traveling until at least April of 2021 - it's crazy! My favorite road-trip book is something light and fluffy because I'm usually reading darker stuff that isn't as fun.
I love Wheel (this is my third) and I'm excited to get back into challenges after a rough spring of distance learning and adjusting to working from home. I have this crazy goal of trying to read only authors of color through this challenge - my guess is that won't last long but I'm going to try! Looking at the tasks there are a number that take place in other parts of the world so that might be my contribution for sure. I will read at least one or more of the BOMs though!
Looking forward to playing with you all!

The family-saga type story like in Jetsetters isn't usually my cup of tea either, but I try to work in a few a year to see if I eventually enjoy one, lol. Although, I just read some pretty bad reviews of the writing style of the book, so I may pass on it too.

Good sentence, Jen. Gah.

I could not find your wheel shelf amongst your massive list of shelves. Impressive, but the way. Can you link it here for me when you get a chance?

Dropped in to say hi to Jenny and team Watership and noticed a fellow Okie. Not only that but we both live in OKC. **Waves**

Yeah! I think you are only Okie I have ever seen. Good to know I'm not alone!

Good to be with you for this Wheel!"
Jenny, good to be with you too! I'm excited to get back into challenges and always glad to be with you!

OK in OK. I'm sure there is a t-shirt with that on it.

Welcome to everyone that I haven't said hello to - Alissa, Sammy, Kate - hope I didn't miss anyone!!
