I am seeing Romance as MPG for this book. Please use an English language edition in your completion post though. 😊

Thank you, I wasn't even looking for the task qualification - I thought she was only asking about MPG. No, it doesn't qualify for the current task, only for the challenge in general.

Really should pay more attention to the whole statement, but that is what a lack of caffeine gets you. 🤦🏻‍♀️

No problem, I just thought would mention before Crystal read it for the task. You have a lot of checking and stuff, I'm sure it's a lot to keep up with and definitely require caffeine. Just looking at the scavenger Hunt thread makes me dizzy 😂

Mamacita aka MawMaw (mamawantsbedtimestory) | 989 comments 2 questions for next task...

Featuring law enforcement... Does that mean one of the main characters, or can it be a side character?

Also for the sweet or touching tag, can it be in reference to a character? Such as a sweet-Heroine?

I will post the qualifications for the next date as soon as get them together. (It would help if you all stopped with the SH books! 😂) I am usually more generous when putting those together than I am on the fly - so I try not to get too specific beforehand.

As for law enforcement officer, it is almost certainly going to need to be a MC or the book isn't going to have a way to verify it.

For Heartwarming, I can't say for sure yet - I want to do some research before answering with any specifics.

For the current task. would the Misadventures series count if each book is completed by a different author and there is no specific GR page for the series itself? Maybe if we link the book that comes after it in the series? For example...

Misadventures of a Curvy Girl
Misadventures with a Country Boy

I would need links to the books before and after to qualify in this instance.

Chris | 643 comments This book qualifies?
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...

It's 6.7 in Reapers MC series and 100 at the 1001 Dark Nights series. Under the synopsis it says that it's part of both series.

No, because the series that would qualify it would be would be the Reapers MC - that is the one listed on GR. Since there is not a full length book after it, it doesn't work. ☹️

As long as they are all on the earliest date, you can use any of them.

MountainKat | 31636 comments Date 4 - H - Tasks: Breakdown of the qualifications for possible tasks for Date 2.

Please remember that all tags/lists must qualify IN CONTEXT!! Links MUST be provided.

Don't make more work for yourself than necessary - if the qualifier is in the title or on the cover, use it! You don't have to go searching for tags to make it work. 😊 If the link you use for the book is the same you are using for the page count and edition - say so (see above edition or something similar)! That saves us all some steps. But please double check your links!

You may use separate editions of your Scavenger Hunt books to qualify for the different tasks. Links MUST be provided.

H is for Hallucination - Read a book tagged as 'fantasy'.

To qualify for this task, the book has to have be tagged at least one time as 'fantasy'. It does not have to be MPG, but if it is just say so - it's easier for all of us. Please include how many times the chosen book is tagged 'fantasy' and what page of the top shelves it is on as well as a link to that page. Links to the genre page are not acceptable, I would still need to search for the book.

H is for Handcuff - Read a book featuring law enforcement officer.

To qualify, the book has to feature a law enforcement officer. This needs to be evident in the precis, title, series, tags or list. Words such as 'law enforcement', 'law enforcement officer', 'cop', 'police officer', 'detective', 'sheriff', 'deputy', 'constable' or 'FBI agent' would qualify. That list is not inclusive. Combo tags will be checked closely! If your qualifying tag is 'police-fireman-paramedic' and all other tags or precis indicate that the book is about a fireman or paramedic, your book will not qualify.

H is for Heartwarming - Read a book tagged as 'sweet' or 'touching'.

To qualify for this task, the book needs to be tagged with something that indicates the book is heartwarming, sweet or touching. If in doubt, please ask.

H is for Hurricane - Read a book set on the East or Gulf Coasts of the US.

To qualify, your book needs to be set in one of the following states: Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and the District of Columbia. Qualification can be from the book details on the main book page (state or city within qualifying state), precis, title, or lists. Lists need to be specific to the qualifying states or will be examined similar to combo tags.

No, those don't necessarily mean heartwarming - could just be angsty or sad.

Rhiannon Tucker | 457 comments Sorry, for Handcuff... If the precip says something about getting arrested, that would prove that some type of officer was there, right? Would that be okay? Or, alternatively, a side charater mentioned to be a cop is in the Precip?

Also, how about Private investigators, or military personnel? Or is it restricted to just LEO's?

Those fantasy tags will work.

Fluffy is more light and easy to read, not necessarily heartwarming, so by itself it would not work.

MountainKat | 31636 comments Rhiannon wrote: "Sorry, for Handcuff... If the precip says something about getting arrested, that would prove that some type of officer was there, right? Would that be okay? Or, alternatively, a side charater menti..."

But that doesn't mean the book features a LEO. 😉 No, getting arrested on its own would not work. A side character important enough to be mentioned in the precis is likely enough. It is so hard to say without seeing the book, so I always tend to buffer my answers with 'likely' or 'probably'. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Private Investigators will not work for Handcuff. Military on its own will not either. Neither are law enforcement officers.

message 240: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31636 comments Janeylou wrote: "A lot of fantasy books are set in fictional towns ..is that ok if it says that fictional town is in an actual state"

Yes, as long as it can be shown to be in a qualifying state.

MountainKat | 31636 comments Janeylou wrote: "Will a retired/ex- LEO be ok"

If it is important enough to the character that it is mentioned in the precis, tagged or on lists that would work.

Enough that is qualifies to be considered set there - included in the book details or on lists.

Cute on its own will work.

Since I know you've read this one, 😁 is this book set in New York enough to qualify? It has New York listed in the settings on the GR main page but it also has California.
