MountainKat | 31636 comments Captains, I've posted a Rose Tally for the first Date in your team threads. If this differs from your records please let me know! Then we can compare and figure out where the differences are. 😊

Laura is correct, it was 794 pages - I don't recall the title. Very nearly had a tie for that rose too until Cheryl finished her book!

I would need to see the book - that is the problem with combo tags, the precis or even other tags could rule it out. If the book is absolutely a thriller, it would be a no. Feel free to PM me the book.

If it were tagged more with other genres, it's possible. It wouldn't take much for only one romance or mystery tag to get pushed down the list.

Thank you for asking, I've been meaning to post this since I completely forgot when I posted the task. The limit will be up to 10 for both the Scavenger Hunt Rose per person and Serial Dating Roses per team. I will post an announcement now. 😊

MountainKat | 31636 comments Since I forgot...

Being that this is the 2 week Romantic Getaway' date, the limits for the Scavenger Hunt Rose and the Serial Dating Rose will be adjusted up from 7 to 10.

So, that is a limit of 10 Scavenger Hunt Roses per person and 10 Serial Dating Roses per team for this date.

Great!

That is a good option for everyone. But you are also free to ask about a specific book and have me confirm it before you start reading if you are concerned about it dropping.

I’m sorry if this has been asked before, I looked but didn’t see it.
Are we allowed to read Graphic Novels for this challenge? The one I’m thinking about in particular is Heartstopper: Volume One. It’s mpg romance. I don’t know if it will fit anywhere in the coming weeks, but wanted to ask about graphic novels in general either way. Thanks!

Sorry for the delay, but I was sure that it had been addressed before and it took me a while to find it.

No - manga, graphic novels or comics are not allowed for this challenge. It would be impossible to make that fair in a team challenge.

Annette (nettyb23) | 238 comments Hi MKat, I have a question about C is for center. If the book is the second book in a trilogy but the third book hasn’t come out yet (coming out in October), does that still count as the middle of a series or do all the books have to be released already?

I will try to get the qualification up for C later today or tomorrow at the latest! I don't want to get too specific now before I get those nailed down.

Just to clarify - thriller is not a qualification for this task. I do see Romance along with both Suspense and Mystery though so you are good. Please include that I approved it in your completion post to remind me that I did see it. 😊

MountainKat | 31636 comments Date 3 - C - Tasks: Breakdown of the qualifications for possible tasks for Date 2.

Please remember that all tags/lists must qualify IN CONTEXT!! Links MUST be provided.

Don't make more work for yourself than necessary - if the qualifier is in the title or on the cover, use it! You don't have to go searching for tags to make it work. 😊 If the link you use for the book is the same you are using for the page count and edition - say so (see above edition or something similar)! That saves us all some steps. But please double check your links!

You may use separate editions of your Scavenger Hunt books to qualify for the different tasks. Links MUST be provided.

C is for Caricature - Read a book with a cartoon like cover.

To qualify for this task, the cover of your chosen book needs to be drawn or cartoon like. Examples of acceptable covers would include How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1) by Molly Harper, Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston or The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune. Covers that wouldn't be acceptable include Man Card (Man Hands, #2) by Sarina Bowen, Bitter Taffy (Candy Man, #2) by Amy Lane or First Comes Scandal (Rokesbys #4) by Julia Quinn. If it is too realistic, it isn't going to work even if part of the cover looks like it is drawn as opposed to a picture.

C is for Center - Read a book in the middle of a series.

To qualify for this task, the book needs to be in the middle of a series or trilogy - not the first book and not the last. If the book after your chosen book is not released yet, but is listed in the series on GR WITH a future publication date, your book with will still qualify. Please include a link to the series page in your completion post.

C is for Cheek - Read a book with a facial cheek on the cover.

To qualify for this task, the book's cover needs to show a human facial cheek. The cover will need to show at least two adjoining facial features, eyes, lips, nose or ear, to confirm the presence of the cheek on the cover. The presence of two adjoining features will not automatically qualify your book if the cheek is not shown as well - for example, lips and nose but no cheek.

C is for Chuckle - Read a humorous book.

To qualify, your book needs to be tagged 'humor', 'humorous', 'funny', 'comedy', 'comical', 'made-me-laugh' or 'laugh-out-loud'.

message 177: by Kate (new)

Kate | 82 comments Hi Kat. If a book is tagged "romantic comedy" or "romcom" those will also work, correct? I assumed they would but wanted to double check as you know what they say about people that assume things. 😄

Also, thank you for putting all this together! I can't imagine how much work it takes!

message 178: by Apoorva (new)

Apoorva (bookishcrack) | 502 comments Hi MKat, for the cartoon like cover, can we choose an edition in a different language? I mean, we did in A too but I just wanted to confirm, thanks!

Yes, those will work.

Just for reference - I don't consider your qualification combined with 'romance' as a combo tag. I can't think of an instance where being combined with romance would disqualify a book. If in doubt though, always feel free to ask. 😊

message 183: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31636 comments Amanda wrote: "For Center, if there are a couple of novellas/shorts that come before the first book, could the first book be used?"

No, for that task it has to be after the first book even if there are prequels.

message 184: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31636 comments Nayara wrote: "Would "laugh-out-loud" be an acceptable tag for chuckle?"

I almost included that or LOL, but had never seen it tagged so left it off. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes that will work and I will add it above.

MountainKat | 31636 comments Aiswrya wrote: "A follow up on Amanda’s question- I was going to read book #2 in a series that has 2.5 books. Does #2 qualify for that task?"

No, a novella after a book would not qualify it for Center.

message 191: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 4053 comments Sorry to harp on this but do novellas count for center at all? Like if there is #1, #1.5, and #2, could you read 1.5?

message 192: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31636 comments Amanda wrote: "Sorry to harp on this but do novellas count for center at all? Like if there is #1, #1.5, and #2, could you read 1.5?"

I really want to say that the series needs to be at least three books long to count as having a middle because that was the intent of this task. But I'm going to side with easy for this - as long as there is a regular book before and after, and the novella otherwise qualifies, I will allow it.

message 193: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31636 comments 🌹The Bachelor Team Challenge - Round 4🌹
🌹Theme - Second Chance Romance🌹

Date 3 - C

C is for Center
- Read a book in the middle of a series.

To qualify for this task, the book needs to be in the middle of a series or trilogy - not the first book and not the last. If the book after your chosen book is not released yet, but is listed in the series on GR WITH a future publication date, your book with will still qualify. A novella before or after will not qualify your book, it needs to be a whole numbered book in the series. Novellas in the middle of a series do qualify as long as they meet the other challenge requirements. Please include a link to the series page in your completion post.

Remember books must be 90 pages (first edition English language Kindle) and MPG Romance!!

You have until Friday, July 17 @ Midnight US EDT to post your completion(s).

Please ensure that your completion post conforms to message #3 of your team thread. If you complete more than one book for the date task, be sure to include that information in your completion post. Remember no discussion in your completion posts!
