LOL, do I? Lemme check... Oh right, that's just because I have multiple copies (US book club hardbacks, UK paperbacks and audio books - okay, I was also given some German copies last Christmas, but I haven't added them LOL). And sister mine, you are so right about Qhuinn/Blay. ;) And Xhex is awesome!

If you go to booksonboard.com they have a great selection and they're almost always cheaper then anywhere else plus you can get rewards back to go towards buying new books. Or you can look at allromanceebooks.com or fictionwise.com I know that they will also probably have them. Fictionwise is also usually pretty inexpensive!

hope that helps..

p.s
look at books on board first, then fictionwise, then all romance ebooks!

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 443 comments Mel wrote: "Finished: Lover Enshrined (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #6) by J.R. Ward 5 stars, baby!

I actually wanted to give it 4,5 stars but since everyone seems to be hating Phury so much, I'm giving it 5. Pooh! "

Mel, I also liked this better than most, but I wasn't quite as generous as you were. My upset was for Phury. After spending his whole life looking for/looking after his brother, I just thought he deserved more than he got in his own book. Ward did somewhat make up for it by that scene at the end between the brothers - what an aria that would make!

message 854: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) Mel wrote: "I loved this book right up till the last bit in which Ward got all Disney and sappy. Why does she always feel the need to do that?"

Was that the part with Z singing? If so, I'm LOLing at the Disney reference, now I'm picturing Z singing with little bluebirds up & down his arms. I agree, there's times when I'm reading her books where there is a particularly gooey bit of cheese and I just tell myself I didn't see that--"move along, nothing to see here."

message 855: by Tara (new)

Tara | 596 comments I liked that he sang for Phury because that's one of the things Phury talked about the whole book, I just wish it was more like when he sang for the others, more personal less showy.

Mel (mel_b) | 1188 comments Sister mine, you read German too? And yay: I'm looking forward to get to know Xhex in LAv.

Bj Rose, I'm totally with you, Phury deserved so much more than he got.

*Spoiler alert*

I'm still mad that Phury is off somewhere babysitting the Chosen while his brothers get to fight. And I still think they gave Z way more slack than they did Phury. Z was a homicidal maniac. The brothers thought he wanted to kill Wrath and was killing hookers to feed for crying out loud! (Thanks to Tara for the reminder :)) And did they send him away? Nooho! Cause Phury was looking out for him.

And no: it wasn't the aria I found cheesy. On the contrary: that was beautiful! Very fitting and just what Phury needed.
The part that I found a little cheesy was the last bit on the Other Side where Phury found his new destiny. And the fact that he and Cormia take in the Chosen and Cormia suddenly is an architect and they're together allllll the time except for his NA meeting and she wakes up with his little big friend poking her in the back every evening. It was just a little bit too much.
It was no where near the overly sappy ending of Story of Son though. That topped my list of cheesy...

message 858: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) I guess I just have a hard time picturing Z singing. Feels goofy to me. :)

And Z wasn't killing hookers, was he? Feeding off them I remember, and then doing the little vamp version of the memory stick from Men in Black.

message 859: by Mel (last edited Oct 28, 2009 01:33PM) (new)

Mel (mel_b) | 1188 comments No he wasn't. But up till Lover Awakened everybody suspected he did.
And I agree, I do have a hard time picturing a big scary guy in leathers hitting the high notes...

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments LOL, no, I don't read a word of German which is why I find the books hilarious (I flip through and look for names so I can guess what's going on). ;)

**** SPOILERS ****

The Brothers turning on Phury was my one issue with the book, for the exact reason you state. Z was completely unstable, Wrath was an ass and V was suicidal before they met their mates, but the other Brothers always supported them. So, for them to turn on Phury, was devastating. However, martyr Phury was also driving me batty.

Except for using them for blood he wasn't hurting them, but Phury was the only one who ever believed that. They all though he was violent towards the females, sex and feeding in the allies to get off. Z even called to tell Wrath about the Havers thing, and Wrath thought Phury got him to confess and yelled at Phury for it. Wrath sort of held Phury responsible for Z, but not the other way around. Seems a little unfair.

And actually I thought Rhage liked to eat his enemies! :-P

Z singing is sweet, the scenario was cheesy, imo.

Ugh. That man better not pull a Robert Jordan. And it's not like he's going to wrap up the series with A Dance with Dragons anyway, considering it's going to be taking place at the same time at A Feast for Crows did. And why did he do that? I was so aggravated when I got to the end of #4 and saw that #5 would be the same time frame but different characters. Why split the book that way? Why not just cut it in half time wise instead of PoV wise? Ugh. That man. I tell ya, if I wasn't so completely in love with the books I wouldn't care so much. :)

Anywho...my faves are Arya too, and also Jamie, Tyrion & Jon. I love that Jamie is one of my faves when I HATED him earlier in the series.

He has so many necessary characters. Plus, he gets you in love with the characters and then just kills them. It is like you never know if your emotional connection with someone is worth it (tried to make this as general statement as possible for those out there that may want to read these).

Jamie has really come up on my list of faves. Also a fan of Bran and Jon, but they didn't have me saying the lines like Arya's 'quiet as a cat, quick as a snake' lines.

From the reading I was at, it will totally be worth it. I listen to Jon's side of a conversation between him and Samwell.

All I can say, though, is that when this book comes out, I am not re-reading the other books again. I already did that once.

For some reason the LP artwork is almost always hideous, unless the book is a huge bestseller. I don't understand why they bother to change it at all. I guess it's so people can differentiate between the two versions, but wouldn't the larger print be a bigger tip-off?
