Hi! I've been absent from this group for quite a while. Sorry!I am reading The Light Between Oceans because of a challenge from another group I'm in.
So far, I'm enjoying the experience. Stedman is a very good story teller. I feel for both Isabel and Tom.
Just finished, The Silver Linings Playbook, last night. What a fun quirky little read. Now I need to see the movie!
Barnes & Noble stuck it to me with an ebook that I didn't really mean to buy, but I am reading it anyway. Too bad I cannot use it for my series challenge. It is the first in a series, but I guess the series has been abandoned. Too bad, it is a pretty good story. I am reading Collision Course.
I finished my Star Trek book tonight. I think I have it out of my system now and can get on with my other reads.
I started Isaac's Storm: A Man, a Time, and the Deadliest Hurricane in History for the monthly challenge.
Tasha wrote: "I started Isaac's Storm: A Man, a Time, and the Deadliest Hurricane in History for the monthly challenge."Good book I thought, Tasha. Interesting background about national meteorology and its part in this particular weather event.
I finished The House at Riverton for a buddy read. This is the second Kate Morton book I have read and the second one I have rated 5 stars. The story kept me hooked until the very end and I loved the writing. I am now starting The Boy I Love for the Serial Killer challenge. It will also fit my World War One mini project as well.
Kimberly wrote: "Ive started The Keeper of Lost Causes
by Jussi Adler-Olsen"I have really enjoyed this series. Quirky characters and good cold cases to solve.
I finished another Cotton Malone novel, The Jefferson Key. Great intrigue, don't know who to trust, everyone double-crossing everyone else, and our hero in the midst of all of it running against time. These novels always have some great historical fiction and are fast-paced. Now I'm reading the latest Lincoln Rhyme book, The Skin Collector.
Taking my time through The Waste Lands and also just started Snow Crash where we jist did aboit 20 pages of the worlds longest mosr intense pizza delivery ever
I think you might have swayed my choice of which snow book to go with Travis. Sounds a bit crazy and weird. I like it.

I'm really enjoying it so far. It's written well and grabbed my attention immediately.

Welcome back Neenee!
I finished The Waste Lands and loved it! I've started The Secret Scripture for the group themed read. I abandoned this one a couple of years ago, and decided to give it another go.
So far Snow Crash is definitely a bit crazy and weird. Still slightly confused but at this point I've read enough Neal Stephenson to not beconcerned since I'm often confused but usually it all pans out in the end. I never know where his books are heading since I'm usually just trying to be sure I kniw where they've been.
I am currently reading Pearls of Lutra by Brian Jacques, The Lost Heir by Tui T. Sutherland, Shameless by Karen Robards, and Kiss the Girls by James Patterson.
"Lutra"= This book I am reading because one of ym goals this year is to get through the "Redwall" series. Plus, I love the descriptions of food, and all the riddles in these books.
"Heir"= This is the second book in a series I am reading because the cover caught my attention. It has since gone on my Series Challenge List as well.
"Shameless"= Third and last in a trilogy recommended to me by a friend, I am reading this novel because I would like to return my friend's books to her next time I see her.
"Kiss"= This is another book in a series I am working through. I chose it because I love James Patterson's books, and the chapters are really short, so I can always tell my husband "just one more chapter" when he tries to get me to do something! ;)

Not!" Then I saw it was listed as mid-grade, children, etc. I came back to this page to ask you what you thought of the age-level when I read the comment I've pasted at the top of this message.
SOLD!
The House at Riverton looked so good; I'll have to add it to my TBR.I'm reading The Shadow of the Wind right now for the monthly challenge and so far it's excellent. :-)
Many of us read The Shadow of the Wind for a buddy read last year, as well as the next book. You should be able to look up the thread and see the comments and spoilers if you want, Jessica. It was a great story and the 2nd is even better. I can't wait until the end of the year when the 3rd will be published.
Jessica, if you happen to pick up The House at Riverton anytime soon, we are discussing it here - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/....

I'm really glad you are enjoying The Shadow of the Wind Jessica! :) It's a wonderful book. The Angel's Game and The Prisoner of Heaven are both good too.
I thought The Prisoner of Heaven was already published. I plan to read this trilogy for the series challenge.
Sandra wrote: "I thought The Prisoner of Heaven was already published. I plan to read this trilogy for the series challenge."Agree. I thought it was out in 2011 or 2012 or some such time.
Nevermind. GR shows it as published in 2011, and in July 2012 in English. Cherie, you are probably mixing trilogies. Or are you waiting for the version in Chemehuevi?
Maybe a confusion with The Name of the Wind? I know I often have to take a sec to remember which one is which.
The Prisoner of Heaven is already published. We did a buddy read of it last year, along with The Shadow of the Wind and The Angel's Game. The next book will be the fourth in the series.
I'm starting The Virgin Queen's Daughter by Ella March Chase today. I think it's going to be very similar to Philippa Gregory's style, which is fine by me as I've loved loads of her Tudor period stories.
Yes, it's easy to confuse Shadow of the Wind with The Name of the Wind. And we did buddy reads on them both.
Janice wrote: "Yes, it's easy to confuse Shadow of the Wind with The Name of the Wind. And we did buddy reads on them both."Looks like both are the first books in a series, too. And both with 3 primary works. I read Shadow of the Wind for last year's buddy read, and enjoyed it very much. Hoping to complete that series this year.
The other is new to me, The Kingkiller Chronicle. Looks very good. Another prospect for the annual challenge : )
I'm still reading When the Wind Blows by James Patterson. I'm not loving it but I'm not hating it. It is just a so so read for me :)
Read Big Breasts and Wide Hips - a total bust for me - review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....Also read The Wild Beasts of Wuhan for the year-long challenge - review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Okay well I put both wind books on my to read list. Stephanie I already read your book, it is definitely a series.
Yes prisoner of heaven was published a while back it is book 4 which people await. I never did read book 3 in the end. maybe I'll wait to book 4 is out. now name of the wind I have everything crossed for book 3 this year.
I had no idea there would be a book 4!! I was thinking in kill the trilogy for the series challenge, but now I'll need to re plan...

The Kingkiller Chronicles are amazing Janet! I would highly recommend checking them out.

There doesn't seem to be any word on a publication date at the minute though.
