So far, so good. I am just at where he held her hand on the bus to school. I wasn't sure I was going to like it at the very beginning. The language has toned down and become more civil. That Tina girl is something else, huh? I knew someone like that when I was in school. I admit that I had to look up Nephilim. I almost knew what it was about, but had to look it up to be sure. I would never have known this word in High School. Eleanor's family situation is definately uncomfortable to me. I lived through a similar situation. I will see how it goes.

Tasha I'm reading The Blind Assassin. The writing is just so amazing. This will be a 5 star read, no doubt.

message 704: by Lynda (new)

Lynda | 836 comments Going to try and finish Middlemarch while waiting for Breakfast on Pluto to show up and before jumping into level 3 of my serial killer stuff. I'm about half way through, hoping I can finish it this week.

Good choice!! One of my favorite books of all time. :)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I finished Tinder which is a retelling of 'The Tinderbox' by Hans Christian Anderson. I enjoyed it a lot and rated it 4 stars. It's dark and creepy and fantastical with a good twist at the end. This hardback edition also has some wonderful illustrations which really add to the overall feel and atmosphere of the story. It's almost worth checking the book out for them alone :)

Tomorrow I will be making a start on The House at Riverton for a buddy read.

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments I'm half the way through Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe. It feels like a happy reading. I like Flagg humor. I have a question for the people who had read it. (view spoiler)

I'll be starting tomorrow The House at Riverton for a buddy read.

Thank You. I was away for 3 weeks. My sister and I went to Morocco, Spain & Portugal. Just got back on Thursday. :)

Stephanie Welcome back, Dawn! How was your trip?

message 720: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1786 comments Thanks. It was fabulous, we crammed a lot into 3 weeks and rather feel that we spend an extraordinary amount of time in some kind of transportation but totally worth it!

message 725: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Just finished Unleashed by Emily Kimelman. I really enjoyed this book and glad I read it. It was quite entertaining. The language though is pretty harsh (as in quite a bit of swearing). That didn't necessarily bother me per se, I just pretended they were other words lol! Anyways, the story reminded me a little of Stephanie Plum by the situations Joy gets herself in. (view spoiler)

message 726: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Going to start When the Wind Blows by James Patterson for Rusalka's March challenge :)

message 729: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments I'm reading The Damned and it is excellent. A great ghost story. I don't think Andrew Pyper has gotten the recognition he deserves. I encourage you to check him out.

message 730: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19141 comments I'm about halfway through The Secret Keeper and I don't like the main character at all. I think she is very shallow and self-centered. I'm wondering what's going to happen in the story that causes so many people to give it such high ratings.

message 732: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59890 comments I hope you enjoy this one better than The Strain, Kimberly.

Kimberly | 2033 comments Janice wrote: "I hope you enjoy this one better than The Strain, Kimberly."

Me too, Im going to give the second book in the strain series a chance still, I just seemed to enjoy the graphic novel adaptation more which rarely happens.

message 734: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59890 comments I have never tried a graphic novel. I should rectify that someday.

message 735: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments Neither have I! Just finished Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, a young adult book wear for once there was good parenting done all around!. Not quite sure how I feel about the ending, but I liked it, it was very character driven. Now I am reading another young adult book I Was Here, and the mom is not such a good mom, as usual!

message 738: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 57 comments I'm starting The Bees by Laline Paull today.

message 739: by KimeyDiann (new)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments I finished Too Much of a Good Thing on Friday. While the story was interesting, the main character and his actions really turned me off. It is the story of an adulterous minister and the women in his life. Apparently it is part of a series and even though I rated the book 4 stars, I don't think I will continue.

I should finish 314 tonight. I don't read horror very often, but I didn't expect this to be all that scary... I was wrong. The first chapter freaked me out and it hasn't gotten a lot better. This is part of a series also and I'm afraid I will have to continue with it if it ends on a cliffhanger. I don't want to though, I don't like scary stuff! LOL. Plus! March 14 (314) is just a couple of weeks away...

I started There's No Place Like Here today. The premise is extremely interesting, I hope the story lives up to it. And hopefully no scary-ness or loathsome characters!

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I started Room and because Lenord Nimoy
was on my mind I started a Star Trek book Captain's Peril. I found out today, from one of my Star Trek friends that I should have read another trilogy book before this one. I will probably start The House at Riverton tonight.

message 745: by Lynda (new)

Lynda | 836 comments My plan was to make some progress on Middlemarch, but then I remembered I never read the latest Veronica Mars book, Mr. Kiss and Tell, which was released in late January. It's pure guilty pleasure for me.

Pam Williams | 156 comments I'm reading I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban. We have a competition at my middle school (I'm a librarian). I have to read the books and write detailed questions. I've just finished The Ruins of Gorlan and started Sarah, Plain and Tall.
