Brandi (brandireynolds) | 247 comments Is it too late for me to join? I'm up for the super simple level. And I'm already on my first new to me book: Zodiac (Zodiac, #1) by Romina Russell -finished 1/16/2015.

Now on to The False Prince (The Ascendance Trilogy, #1) by Jennifer A. Nielsen -finished 1/18/2015 (quick read! fairly enjoyable)

Next is Altered (Altered, #1) by Jennifer Rush -finished 1/22/2015. Taking a short break to read the second in the trilogy before diving into more new authors.

Snow Like Ashes (Snow Like Ashes, #1) by Sara Raasch -finished 2/2/2015

Now on to The Burning Sky (The Elemental Trilogy, #1) by Sherry Thomas -finished 2/13. Not sure what next book will be-will update once I decide.

And I decided my last one will be Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1) by Rachel Hawkins -finished 2/20

Got in my six for the simple level!

Gremlin | 966 comments It's never too late for anyone to join! (I joined my first challenge on YA-MA with 15 days to go. Didn't complete the challenge in time, but it was fun to try!)

Everyone should be updated!

message 75: by Gremlin (new)

Gremlin | 966 comments Also, can folks please remember to post when they've completed a book for the challenge? Don't just change it on your original post (because then I won't mark it on my tally section).

Thanks, everyone!

Gremlin | 966 comments Alexa wrote: "Was it good? :D I have it on my list. I love Amy Poehler, she's so much fun!"

It was good! I think it's best read right after watching an episode of Parks and Recreation or one of her SNL sketches so that you can keep her voice in your head. (I feel like Amy's humor is often displayed physically and/or tonally and one might not pick up some of the humor in the book if you're not hearing her talking to you).

I do think that I liked Bossypants a bit better (Tina Fey) but Yes Please was still a good read.

laurel [the suspected bibliophile] (laurelthereader) Finished 3/6 Stray (Four Sisters, #1) by Elissa Sussman

message 82: by Rae (new)

Rae Quigley (raequigley) | 256 comments That's so funny! I second that about Yes Please. Sometimes I was put off by her tone and then I would remember that it was her humor. I didn't really find it funny, but I enjoyed the read and found parts very inspiring since I'm trying to get into the entertainment business. She was very real, which is all I can ever ask of anyone :)

Gremlin | 966 comments Jamie wrote: "And I'm completely stumped for a Y and F choice. Can anyone recommend something that springs to mind? "

Hi Jamie! Here are couple of ideas!

F - Far Far Away by Tom McNeal or Flora Segunda (Flora Trilogy, #1) by Ysabeau S. Wilce (Granted, these are both "middle grade" but could count as your "non-YA". I read and enjoyed them both. Fantasy - one is more fairytale-esque and a bit dark, the other is an interesting fantasy with a plucky heroine).

Other possibilities for F that I haven't read (but are on my To Read list and have pretty good ratings):
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell Of Metal and Wishes (Of Metal and Wishes, #1) by Sarah Fine After the End (After the End #1) by Amy Plum Breathing Underwater (Breathing Underwater, #1) by Alex Flinn

For Y, I might suggest these two titles (again, haven't read them, but they look good):
The Young Elites (The Young Elites, #1) by Marie Lu Blood Red Road (Dust Lands, #1) by Moira Young

Jessabeth (jessabethy) | 20 comments I have a question. Does Patricia McCormick count as YA? I was looking for something else but that was where my library had it shelved.

message 89: by Gremlin (new)

Gremlin | 966 comments Jessabeth wrote: "I have a question. Does Patricia McCormick count as YA? I was looking for something else but that was where my library had it shelved."

Hi Jessabeth! I think that Patricia McCormick mostly counts as YA (I usually judge book by book, instead of saying that everything an author writes can fit in one particular mode).

In her case, though, every book I looked up seemed to be in the "Teen" section in the Chicago Public Library system - and that's my default rating system.

So - short answer: Yes!
