PattyMacDotComma | 3297 comments While nervously awaiting regular alerts about the Aussie bushfires, I've been reading the Pulitzer Prize-winning The Overstory by Richard Powers. A good readable mix of characters, history, and tree info, as well.

PattyMacDotComma | 3297 comments The Prettiest Horse in the Glue Factory is the wonderful title of popular Aussie comedian Corey White's unique memoir. He is one of those kids who fell through the cracks of "the system" and landed in some inexcusably bad foster care. It's a terrific read!

I'll keep trying but I can't help myself when there's a lot to say about a book, especially when it's an unusual one like this!

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments Pretty much anything by Alexander McCall Smith is a guaranteed feel-good read, and To the Land of Long Lost Friends is no exception. The audio version narrated by Adjoa Andoh is a joy to listen to.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments My latest dose of Sulari Gentill's Rowland Sinclair, Miles Off Course is mostly set right up there in Sulari's own burnt out high country, and when she drenched Rowly and Edna in a day of rain, I was wishing for it to be happening now...
excellent historical crime fiction, as always.
