MANY over 3 months it's ridiculous. When I saw this challenge I thought there is no way. But you having plenty of books over the three months let me know I was not alone in that.

Well, I have had a book melt down!I was down to 2 books past publication and was excited to be all caught up.
Now I am 6 books behind publication and just added
and
I have some time off for Thanksgiving so I "plan" on making a dent in this!
Finally finished one this month!
After the Fire by Will Hill
This one was one of my really old books to review, so I'm happy to get it off my shelf. It was a really good read too. I wish I had gotten to it earlier.
After the Fire review
Kristie wrote: "I just got my first approval from Berkley! I'm shocked. I requested the book 3 months ago.
"That's awesome! I don't even bother with them anymore since I saw that they want reviewers to have a blog with 1000 or more followers. My little blog doesn't even have 200 lol. Think I should request anyway if I really want a certain book?
I honestly had just stopped requesting from them after this one. I had three just sitting on my pending shelf forever. They typically don't even respond to my requests, so I decided that was the last time I was going to request from them... and surprise! I have no idea why this one was different. My blog isn't even up and running yet. Maybe they didn't have as many requests?

My blog isn't even up and running yet. Maybe they didn't have as many requests?." Maybe it varies by genre too. I only read cozy mysteries, and I know there's a fairly big demand for them, but really there's probably less bloggers for them specifically than other genres. Maybe I'll give Berkeley a request again when I find one of theirs I really want to read, all they can tell me is no, right? :)
I don't know, Tari. I'm sure the number of people requesting a certain book has an effect on how likely you are to receive an ARC, but I'm not sure which books would be most in demand. I tend to like a variety of genres.

Yikes. I wish NetGalley would put a time limit on those to force the publishers to make a decision

Yes, sometimes it can really mess you up if you've already gotten more books and have no time to review it. Fortunately, this one doesn't publish until March, so I'm ok.
Added a third book!
I need to get my review for The Vanishing Season written before I start really falling behind again.
I finished one this month.
It was a very good beginner or refresher guide to oils and featured 20 of the most common ones. I will definitely reference this in the future.
Kristie wrote: "I just got my first approval from Berkley! I'm shocked. I requested the book 3 months ago.
"i think approvals are just in the lap of the Gods, there are some publishers who never approve me but i do get plenty
I agree, Marie. I got two approvals this month from publishers that never approve me and I have others that didn't get approved from publishers that often do. There's just no figuring it.
I got approved for 3 more.
Dead to Her (I have liked this author in the past)
The Girls Weekend
Bob Marley in Comics! (Am trying a graphic novel)
Re msg. 21: I'm happy with this month. I maintained for once in my life--the same number of books and % are on the shelf now as I had in the beginning of Nov. I'm much better off than I was last year at this time, and I think just being accountable somewhere has helped me a lot!
I went backwards this month, but I've been doing much better about requesting this year in general, so I'm ok with a month going backwards every so often. Beginning of Month:
Books on Shelf: 9
Netgalley Ratio: 95%
End of Month:
Read & Reviews: 1
Added: 3
Books on Shelf: 11
Ratio: 93%
I'm ok at the moment as I haven't requested anything for a long time. The problem is that two of my books I have to get from the library (one was a protected PDF that expired... sigh... and the other one I just don't know how but the download to my kindle didn't work and I didn't realise until too late). And another is too short to count for any challenges so I haven't had a chance to read yet

Feed Your Readers, the NetGalley Challenge
Duration: Monthly
How to Participate:
The NetGalley Challenge is designed to not only get you to read your NetGalley books, but to also advertise your reviews for others to see because after all, that's what NetGalley is all about.
Though you may pop in/out at any time, the NetGalley Challenge will run on a monthly basis so you are able to see progress being made.
1. At the beginning of the month, post any/all of the following:
a: How many books on your NetGalley shelf
b: What books are on your NG shelf
c: What your Netgalley feedback ratio is
2. During the month, read the NetGalley books that you can AND update your post with your reviews. (You can do this after each book or wait until the end of the month.)
3. At the end of the month, update your post and with:
a: What books you read
b: Link(s) to your review(s)**
c: Your updated shelf count
d: Your updated books to read
e: Your updated ratio
Then start a new post for the next month!
Do you ever get so caught up in your reading that you don't want to stop to write your reviews?
Thinking about that, it was decided we need a "Review Weekend", once each month, set aside to write those reviews you've been not doing in favor of reading!
Review Weekends will vary randomly each month and is meant to be a time set aside to review. Take one, or both days and get caught up on reviews so you can spend the rest of the month reading!!
The next Review Weekend is set for November 16/17
**When linking your reviews, please link only to the book(s) here at GoodReads. At this time, linking to a personal blog is not allowed. Thank you!
