Books between 100 and 160 pages (100 pages or 25,000 words is the minimum) = 10 points
Books between 161 pages and 450 pages = 20 points
Books between 451 and 600 pages = 50 points

If, by three days prior to the BOM starting, we don't have enough volunteers to write all DQs, then we will let more than one team member per team write questions. If we have more people than days sign up (prior to 3 days before start date) we will randomise the volunteers to determine those who can write DQs

For NBRC Buddy Reads
Participating in a buddy read with a member from a different team, or with a member of NBRC who isn't on a Tower Team = 30 points

NOTE: Points for BOMs and BRs are only provided for these discussions happening inside the NBRC group. Points are not provided for discussions in other groups

Kristie | 3595 comments Are we each choosing a spot and updating the message with new reads? It seems that it would be easier for Logan to keep track of if each new update got it's own post instead of trying to figure out which books were added when a message is edited.

Ooh good question. I was just going to update my list kind of like a reading challenge.

Kristie | 3595 comments I'll do it whichever way, but when you edit a message it doesn't leave a notification or anything.

We could put links to the posts on the first page though. The truth is that it doesn't matter which way we win... ;)

Logan (loganturner) | 1643 comments This space essentially serves as a double check against the spreadsheet, so I think either way we post gets that done. I'll be checking here and the spreadsheet daily regardless of notifications, so however is easiest is fine with me.

Logan (loganturner) | 1643 comments Hey team! Can I ask a huge favor? ~Melissa~ is a goddess and has posted links to her comments in her BRs. This makes it super easy on me to check for me and our mod Sonia to check for participation.

Can you update your posts with a link to a comment you have made, or DQs you posted, so that we can easily find your part of the discussion. There's obviously back and forth, so just a link to one of your comments is fine.

If you don't know how to link to it, this post walks you through it step by step.

Perfect!

The one downside to putting all these links is that we'll reach the character limits on our posts much faster.

I really wish there weren't those character limits. I understand the purpose of them, but I started a bunch of challenges before I even realized that existed, and now I'm stuck with one post that won't last very long. Kind of a pain. I figure though, when there's a second page, you can just link to your second post on your first one? lol I dunno that's my slapdash solution.

And I have this weird thing about the way my posts look...I want them to be pretty which somehow trumps the character limit for me. Just weird, I know.

message 32: by Logan (new)

Logan (loganturner) | 1643 comments Yeah, I plan to just link to my later posts in the first one. I'm like you in that formatting trumps squeezing in more books. :)

460 pages (50) + BR (30) = 80 points!

Edit:
Ok, so I figured out the link. In my post with my updates (# 14), under "buddy reads", the links will bring you to the example posts. I will also add the links to posts, like this one, as I go.

For audio books, the default Goodreads version is the page count you will use. So when you search for the book in Goodreads, whatever version it takes you to for the book page, that's the page count. For this book, you get 496 pages.

I have read the first three books. I need to reread them in order to read the last one. I really like how it has all the religions and cultures and how it all ties together. I found it fascinating.

Kristie | 3595 comments Just finished Queen of Babble for 20 points! Kind of feel that I deserve more than 20 for that one! lol I almost gave up at 20% in because the narrator was was so needy and pathetic that she was grating on my nerves, but I hung in there for those points!! It ended up to be an ok book and I gave it a generous 3 stars for growth. :)
