Catherine Ryan Hyde is an automatic go-to author for many readers, but I wonder what they will make of A Different Kind of Gone. I think it's one that book clubs wll enjoy discussing.

Language of Love - A Flirty, Festive Anthology by various authors.
A mixed bag for me, though this is mainly due to my romance reading preferences.

I enjoyed Detective Zoe Mayer's latest murder investigation with her service dog, Harry, aka The Good Dog. I'm sure he is one of Simon Rowell's most popular characters. What's not to love?
My review of The Good Dog
I like short stories, especially those that have a connection, so I enjoyed Winter Lights by Deborah Jenkins. These take place in Sussex, UK, at Christmastime, with characters ranging from old-money posh to an Indian migrant running a restaurant.
My review of Winter Lights
The Murderous Misses of Concord: A Concord Mystery
4 star murder mystery

Tim Burton: The iconic filmmaker and his work
I just finished this up. I liked the subject matter and was interested in learning about Tim Burton, but I did not care for the author's tone and voice

The Poisons We Drink by Bethany Baptiste
was a spin on the witch trials, and while I liked it, it needs more backstory on the history and about the magic.3 Stars

Ah, Ireland and a new Tana French mystery! Retired Chicago cop Cal Hooper can't avoid trouble, even in a foreign rural village.
The Hunter
is a follow-up to The Searcher or equally excellent as a standalone.
My review of The Hunter
The Memory Library by Kate Storey
Works exactly as expected, which is both good and boring.

This children's picture book about a resourceful young Syrian refugee boy was originally an award-winning short film. Adnan: The boy who helped his mummy remember by Mark Arrigo retells the story for kids with atmospheric artwork.
My review of Adnan: The boy... with several of the illustrations and links to some film info

The Department of Rare Books and Special Collections by Eva Jurczyk
The disappointment is always greater when a book about books fails to deliver.

The Hunter by Tana French is one of my favourite reads so far this year. Beautiful writing, fascinating characters and a long, slow burning build up to an explosive ending. So good!review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Sadly, Sunbringer by Hannah Kaner
kind of flopped. Now I don't know if I'll bother with the 3rd whenever it comes out.2 Stars

The Other Side of Night by Adam Hamdy
Didn't expect to enjoy this book so much! It's not for all, but if you are the right kind of reader, it ought to work well.

The Attic Child by Lola Jaye
Enjoyed this amazing dual-timeline story. It taught me many new things.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
An escapist, action-packed psychological thriller!
Still See You Everywhere by Lisa Gardner ⭐⭐⭐⭐.3 https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Your Blood, My Bones by Kelly Andrew could have been a creepy horror story, but it failed because of too much foreshadowing, plot and character inconsistencies. It wasn't bad but it could have been so much better!

Hannah Rose Thomas, a humanitarian activist and artist, has created a beautiful, moving tribute to the women who are always the victims in wars. The stories in Tears of Gold: Portraits of Yazidi, Rohingya, and Nigerian Women should go around the world.
My review of Tears of Gold with several of their haunting photographs
The Underground Library by Jennifer Ryan
An interesting historical fiction set in the Bethnal Green library during WWII.

If the ending hadn't been rushed so much it was lazy, I would've given it one more star! But Draw Down the Moon by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast
was a still a good YA read.3 Stars

A Kind of Madness by Uché Okonkwo
The first great short story collection of the year. Loved this amazing Nigerian work.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Bless Your Heart
by Lindy Ryan wasn't a bad read, not as funny as the blurb hinted at, nor are the Strigoi typical, and it's not scary, but it has violence and some blood and guts, but not overly descriptive. 3 Stars

I listened to the audio of Someone You Can Build a Nest In
by John Wiswell, and it was a cute cozy horror story, but the MC's name, Shesheshen, was repeated over and over again, even when she was the only character in the setting. It got boring and lost a star because of it. But the narrator did a great job!3 Stars

Dragonfruit by Makiia Lucier
was a simple but good read. I only wish there was more info on the magics of this world.3 Stars

"I quite enjoyed that one! :)"
Thank goodness! I was a little disappointed with the last one of his I read so I was a little hesitant with this one.
The Trial by Jo Spain set in a college is an excellent mystery involving the mysterious disappearance of a medical studentreview: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I haven't read everything (yet) that much-loved Aussie author Garry Disher has written, but I can recommend everything I have, and his brand new standalone novel, Sanctuary, is right up there. Grace Latimer is a crook. Well, yes, but she has reasons - give her a break!
My review of Sanctuary
Everywhere You Look by Liv Constantine is the first of six Amazon Original Stories in their Never Tell collection. Secrets and lies abound. I hope I enjoy the next ones more than this.
My review of Everywhere You Look(They're published separately, so you can take your pick.)
The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown
I loved this magical fantasy-thriller so much! Way more than most of my friends did! It's always fun to be an outlier on the positive side. :D

“A lot of people who aren’t Native don’t know this story,“ said Pulitzer Prize winner Tommy Orange about his second book, Wandering Stars. Now there's no excuse for not knowing about the Florida prisons and boarding schools where the Southern Cheyenne were sent.
My review of Wandering Stars
What a delightful romp Isabel Allende has written for Amazon Original Stories! Lovers at the Museum has an irritable cop, impulsive lovers, and a magical museum experience.
My review of Lovers at the Museum (with a picture of the fantastical Guggenheim Bilbao)
