What Books Are You Currently Reading From NetGalley
This Is How It Always Is by Laurie Frankel
A 2017 release, but luckily, Macmillan made the audio available on NetGalley. Loved this beautiful family drama so much!

by Alexene Farol Follmuth, a cute young adult story about new beginings, friendship, young love and STEM. I'm nearly done with it and I'm so sorry it took me 2 years to read it, it's super adorable and fun.
The City of Stardust by Georgia Summers
I always hope a book will get better but this one didn't. There wasn't any real action or 'drama' so it was a slow read!

Poor Deer by Claire Oshetsky
Oshetsky's imagination and descriptive writing are on excellent display in this literary fiction.

I listened to the audiobook several years ago and loved it!
From my 2022 backlist, a wonderfully touching 5⭐ read.
Carolina Moonset by Matt Goldman ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston is a cleverly written suspense filled cat and mouse game.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Invocations by Krystal Sutherland
was good but could've been better with more details about the demons, world, and characters. The writing was also a little off, seeming to jump from past and present tense, and missing fs in the middle of words...
But it was a good and quick read.

by Denny S. Bryce and my review.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Relit: 16 Latinx Remixes of Classic Stories, edited by Sandra Proudman
Enjoyed this anthology of retellings with a Latinx SFF twist. It's YA, but other than that, it's worth a read. ;)

The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett
is not a bad story, but it lacks backstory on the world/monsters. Plus I had the main mystery figured out pretty quickly.3 Stars

New author for me. 11th book in series. Standalone reading. Good story. Interested me enough to search for other titles by the author.

Infinity Alchemist by Kacen Callender
was a snooze. More details and depth to the characters, the world, and the magic might have kept my eyes open.2 Stars

Little Witness by S.A. Dunphy
An Irish police procedural initialising what promises to be an interesting series around children caught in the aftermath of adult crimes.

To Cage a God by Elizabeth May
was disappointing. I was expecting more lore about the gods and how to cage them... It failed! 2 Stars

My first Netgalley Audio; Dead Things Are Closer Than They Appear by Robin Wasley
was good. Even though I gave it 3 stars, I still recommend it for an easy and a little creepy read. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle L. Jensen
started off good, but fizzled. The romance was boring, so overdone, plus I don't respect adultery. And the MC, I got irritated with her. Even though it was a good story, the MC and the porn at the end ruined a good story.
A very low

She's a Killer by Kirsten McDougall
A wacky cli-fi satire set in dystopian NZ. Not for everyone, but if you like dark humour, you'll possibly enjoy this.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The blurb for The Butcher of the Forest by Premee Mohamed
got my attention, but the story failed to keep it. It needs about 100 pages of descriptions. 2 Stars

Zenith Man: Death, Love, and Redemption in a Georgia Courtroom by McCracken Poston Jr., is a true-life courtroom drama entertainingly written by the lawyer who defended his neurodiverse client accused of murdering the wife no one knew he had.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
This children's picture book about a puzzled pirate, The Hoys by Kes Gray, has some great illustrations by Mark Chambers which I shared in my review.

One More Mountain by Deborah Ellis
The fifth book of the acclaimed Breadwinner series, a set of MG books talking of a little girl in Afghanistan. An eye-opening story, but best read in series order.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
A Lady's Guide to Marvels and Misadventure by Angela Bell
An entertaining historical romance-adventure. Faith-oriented, especially in the final section, so except if you have a problem with that, I see now reason why you shouldn't read this amazing debut. :)
