Life swings on a pendulum marking time but suspending us in motion. Swinging to side to side, we're stuck, angry, scared and afraid to venture out to rejoin the world. 'Wish You Were Here' hit home as the pandemic touched everyone's lives. It separated us from loved ones, furloughed jobs, created fear and above all, we lost people we cared about due to Covid-19.My Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I just finished The Spectacular

oh man. I have this one coming up. I started it, then put it down already. I'll have to pick it up again soon...
Actually read and reviewed this one on time. Now to review the other 8 NG books I've read over the last couple months.
One Last Kiss (Blood Ties #0.5) by Kat Martin
My Review - 3.5 Stars

This is the Kopp sisters, World War One style! Norma's in France with her pigeons, young Fleurette is touring in the US with a dance troupe, and Constance is spying. Always fun. Dear Miss Kopp by Amy Stewart is #5 in the series.

A couple months late getting to this one.
Drown Her Sorrows (Bree Taggert, #3) by Melinda Leigh
My Review - 4 Stars

Flying Angels by Danielle Steel Blending historical with woman's fiction, Steel pens stories of brave women adhering to their internal call of duty instead of society's expectations. These 'Flying Angels' risked their lives to protect the United States during WWII."
The author is renowned for romances but she shines at historical fiction. Overcoming obstacles and overthrowing society's rules to make a difference, her spirited characters connect readers with past so they can embrace the future.

BOX 88 by Charles Cumming, a former secret service recruit himself, describes the mixed-up world of international intrigue. We may know who the enemy is, but with so many 'agencies' of spies today, nobody is quite sure who the bad guys are. Great read!
4.5★ Link to my review of Box 88
Keep the dream alive! This little book is a great introduction to Martin Luther King Jr.. It's part of an excellent series to inspire little kids (and their parents!). Author Mª Isabel Sánchez Vegara has produced an amazing library of these.
5★ Link to my review of MLK Jr with several illustrations.
Just finished Inhuman Trafficking by Mike Papantonio and AlanRussell, a legal thriller set in the murky world of sex trafficking in the South. my review
Has anyone been approved for Robert Peston's The Whistleblower. I requested this one and am desperate to read it but still haven't received a response. Also waiting for a response on The Dark Hours by Michael Connelly. Am hoping to get at least one .
'The Wuhan Lockdown' by Guobin Yang. It accurately depicts the events, using social media and mass media of the time... but the style is killing me. Like it was written by a student, not a professor
Apples Never Fall is the latest from Aussie author Liane Moriarty. It's a family tree of tennis players, the kind of varied group of characters she's so well-known for. I wish I'd liked it better.

Strange Bliss: Essential Stories is a collection of six of Katherine Mansfield's excellent, quirky short stories. People are just as selfish and awkward and silly today as they were when she was writing.

Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan is a little gem that tells a big story. Excellent!

Family is the first in Owen Mullen's new Glass Family series. Two crime families vie for supremacy, but don't think the Glass siblings are the good guys!

'The Popes against the Protestants' by Kevin Madigan. A book about religious clashes in Italy in 1920-1939. 5/5 after 15%
Just finished the Whistleblower by Robert Peston and am now reading The Other HusbandOnly 25% of the way in so far but really enjoying it so far
I'm 25% into this third century Roman Britain novel. While the 19th in the series, as yet there is not a murder but a political and social conundrum for the patron of Libertus, the central character of the series. Libertus is being sucked into that appears to be an impending maelstrom. As with the previous 18, I'm hooked!
The Party Crasher by Sophia Kinsella What I love about Kinsella's novels is that the protagonist is flawed but a lovable character. She is relatable, resourceful and realizes that through overcoming adversity, she emerges stronger than before.

Melissa wrote: "Nanny Needed! It’s really fast paced and I’m enjoying it a lot ☺️"Oh, I requested that!
The Last Thing to Burn by Will Dean is confronting, excellent suspense told by a captive Vietnamese 'bride'. I don't know how he did it, but she sounds real!

A new series with a great suspense plot.Dangerous Ground (Fiona Carver, #1) by Rachel Grant

The Shadow People by Graham Masterton. Police procedural with cannibalistic horror element set in Sarf London.
The Hydrogen Revolution. I decided to try another non-fiction. This book interested me because when I taught plebe (freshman) chemistry at the United States Naval Academy in the mid '70s and mid '80s, I pointed out the possible future of hydrogen to replace natural gas and other energy needs. Much has changed in the past 35 and 45 years, so I wanted to see how accurate my ideas back compare to now. I'm 17% into the book so it is still primarily focused on climate change, but I saw many of my ideas in an introductory chapter. The author uses much references to back up his facts that in this day and age I find quite refreshing.
My Monticello by Jocelyn Nicole Johnson which I am 86% through and quite enjoying reading. I have had to have a little break from The Movement by Petra Hulova which I am 32% into it but struggling somewhat.
Forgiving Paris by Karen Kingsbury. Karen Kingsbury's life-changing fiction affords readers to reexamine their lives. Looking back, we're quick to judge our decisions. We don't realize that experience affords that reflection. While coming to terms with the past, we need to forgive ourselves to move forward.

I'm in the middle of The Santa Suit
and its exactly what I need after a gritty and uncomfortable thriller about manipulation and sexual abuse.

I have just requested The Twyford Code by Janice Hallett. Loved The Appeal so am praying for approval here
Hans Christian Andersen is depicted as a dreamy, imaginative boy by Maxine Lee-Mackie in this colourful addition to the little people BIG DREAMS series by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. Such fun to be reminded of his world-famous stories.Hans Christian Andersen 5★ Link to my review of Hans Christian Andersen with several illustrations

Catch Us The Foxes by Aussie author Nicola West is a twisty, complicated thriller with a good premise and great atmosphere. It eventually got too weird for me.

It is fabulous! Greenberg knows everybody who's anybody, worked in the Johnson White House, and tells great stories!
