Winter Sleep: A Hibernation Story by Sean Taylor and Alex Morss is a delightful and informative kids' picture book. The illustrations by Cinyee Chiu make it special. Good gift book for grandparents!

Popular Aussie author Nicole Trope's suspenseful The Boy in the Photo will be sure to gain her some more fans.

I'm about to start reading Lady Clementine
by Marie Benedict. It is the next to last book I have from them. I might stop using NG afterwards because they don't like the fact that I don't live in a "normal" country and so they don't let me request many books, just wish for them. (And wishes almost never come true!)
Just started
The Missing Letters of Mrs Bright by Beth Miller. Really good so far - a middle aged woman who's tired of her husband never wanting to do anything, decides to leave him.
What do you do if you're scared to use the bathroom at school because of the teasing? The picture book Jacob's New Dress introduced a little boy who likes to wear dresses, inspired by Sam, the son of the authors, Sarah Hoffman and Ian Hoffman.Jacob's Room to Choose is a good followup about Jacob and Sophie, a little classmate who prefers shirts and jeans. A teacher helps the other kids wake up to themselves!

How do you know if someone is attracted to you for your 'real' self or for what they think you represent? The Weddings by Alexander Chee is an excellent short story from the new Amazon Original Stories collection, 'Inheritance'.

About to start a cosy,
Beating About the Bush byM.C. Beaton as a bit of light relief after all my recent dark reads, including the very thrilling
Cold Heart Creek by Lisa Reganwhich I read overnight. My spoiler free review can be found at my webpage https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/... and https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Laid In Earth is my favourite Czech detective Josef Slonský investigation so far. Number 6 in the series harks back to the Communist regime and evidence of their interrogations in Prague. English author Graham Brack has created an appealing cast of characters.

I recently enjoyed Anthony Marra's short story The Lion's Den. An author son who has capitalised on his father's notoriety has moved back home. Awkward?

A must-have to keep around for visitors (after you read them yourself)!Midwinter Mysteries: A Christmas Crime Anthology is a collection of short, entertaining mysteries with only the season in common. Dates range from 1665 to today. I always love Graham Brack's Prague police stories, and his is the first.

I just finished The Man She Married by Alison James and can confidently say that it is another 5 star read. It's the sort of book that is easy reading, there are no complicated relationships where you find it hard to remember who's who. The story just flows along until suddenly you have 80% read and there's no point in putting it down now.
. I just started the book but the beginning started off drawing me in. Hoping that it stays on that course.
I'm finishing my reviewing year with an outstanding book. American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins is the terrifying story of a woman trying to escape the deadly, insidious Mexican cartels.

I just finished reading "Lady Clementine" by Marie Benedict (to be published on Jan 7). The next book from there is "Dreamland" by Nancy Bilyeau (also January publication). And just today, I found "The First Emma" by Camille Di Maio free for download without a request - due out in May.
I've read two so far this year:
When We Were Vikings by Andrew David MacDonald, a quirky debut novel featuring a young woman with a cognitive disability and a love of Viking culture.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Perfect Kill by Helen Sarah Fields, a very gripping, if somewhat gruesome thriller.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I just finished Snow Creek by Gregg Olsen and although I haven't reviewed it just yet it will definitely be 5 stars. Not only is this a great story but it is the start of a new series which is going to be a must read.
You are Not Alone You Are Not AloneAm I the only one that starts singing Michael Jackson's song "you are not alone, I am here with you." when they see this cover?? HA

I'll be reading Dreamland
by Nancy Bilyeau very soon! After that, I only have ONE book on my NetGalley shelf, and that's only because it was a "read now" book that I didn't have to request! They hate me. I'm getting many more from Edelweiss.
Just finished Wolf Gone Wild and wow was that book not for me. I hate to give negative feedback and I feel guilty, but then again NetGalley rules kinda forced me to finish this book. So here it is: 1 star and an essay rant :(
Best one yet! Into the Fire Orphan X #5 by Gregg Hurwitz doesn’t pause anywhere long enough to let you catch a breath!

Just finished Big Lies in a Small Town by Diane Chamberlain. Finished at 10:34 last night so have not done my review yet. Had to stay up and finish because I could not go to sleep until I knew how it ended.
I really enjoy Robert Dugoni's Tracy Crosswhite series, a combination of legal drama and police procedural.

Just got declined for Looking Glass by Christina Henry. That was disappointing. My last two requests were denied, and it's worrying me a lot. I need to improve my ratio from 50%, I guess. I just got too excited and requested too much when I first joined. But I'm currently reading one of the books I requested.
Currently reading Anything For You by Saul Black, for a late review :(
I think I'm the odd one out with William Kent Krueger's already popular This Tender Land, about runaway kids.
