A handsome, young, American hit-man leaps from the frying pan of the Mob in Philly into the fire of a murder investigation in coastal Australia in Dave Warner's River of Salt.

I'm currently reading And Then She Vanishes by Claire Douglas,. Its not even got a cover yet. Its really really good and i cant put it down
Recently finished "His Rebellious Lass" by Callie Hutton and it left me feeling VERY ranty. (Review here. As you can see: ranty.) I gave it 1 star, because I feel like my job as a reviewer is to be honest, but I am curious about what you guys think about posting negative reviews.

I think we've had discussions about this before - most people seem to feel that reviews don't mean much if we aren't honest, even if that means giving a negative review sometimes.

I typically do not post negative reviews to my blog or FB, but I do to GR, Netgalley, and Amazon. I am usually succinct in my negative reviews, at least for every novel up until The Mister by E L James and that I just wholeheartedly trash talked. Negative reviews, especially to Netgalley or EW, are necessary for Publishers to know what their readers do and do not like.
Just finished
The View from Alameda Island by Robyn Carr. My spoiler free review can be found at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... and on my webpage sandysbookaday.wordpress.com About to begin

Thanks for the response! It's helpful to see what other people do in terms of where they post reviews of books they don't like. (This one I put on my blog, here, and NetGalley, but didn't send to the author or put on social media - trying to strike a balance with giving good info to publishers and other readers and not completely trashing a book all over the internet.)
Never Kiss a Notorious Marquess (Infamous Lords, #3) by Renee Ann Miller

I'm currently reading Furious Hours: Murder, Fraud, and the Last Trial of Harper Lee by Casey Cep. True crime about a murder case in Alabama. Harper Lee attended the trial and spent a year working on a book but never published it. Not sure if we're going to find out why.
The man who murdered was shot three times in front of 300 people at a funeral by a relative of the dead girl. The victim had five people die in suspicious circumstances around him (including two wives!), allowing him to rake in a fortune in life insurance, but no evidence was found that he was involved. Fascinating case!

Beautiful! More than a picture book, it's a poignant story of a little girl in wartime. Captain Rosalie by Timothée de Fombelle and Isabelle Arsenault (illustrator) is out in June and still available on NetGalley.

Just got approved for this! Thank you Scribner! Huge fan of Michael Robotham. I highly recommend him to those who haven't read anything by him yet.
David Bowie. Whether this makes you think of Major Tom or Ziggy Stardust, you've got to admit he was an artist like no other. Mª Isabel Sánchez Vegara's colourful addition to the "little people BIG DREAMS" series will introduce him to kids today. (And she explains his eyes.)

I'm currently loving
. I'm 40% through it and it is fantastic. I highly recommend because it's not a book you will see everyday. Plus, it's a family saga!I'm also reading
, but haven't picked it up in a few days because the pub date is after The Correspondents, which just came out on Tuesday!
I'm currently reading:
About 20% in so far, and it is so-so good!! :D If you like dragon-shifters and erotic romance, go request this one. Go, go!!
I'm kicking myself for starting it so late at night... I'm gonna have to put it down to get some sleep. :(
Or... maybe sleep is overrated? :P
If only the world would learn the lessons of the late Elie Wiesel, Holocaust survivor and renowned teacher and peace activist. Ariel Burger was his student and friend, now a teacher himself. His Witness: Lessons from Elie Wiesel's Classroom is a must-read.

Just finished A Nearly Normal Family which was fantastic! And just hopped onto my new one
I am only 9% in but I am loving it!!
Nobody should pass up the BuzzBook previews! As expected, I enjoyed Buzz Books 2019: Fall/Winter: Excerpts from Next Season's Best New Titles by Susannah Cahalan, Eoin Colfer, J.T. Ellison, Jojo Moyes, Jeanette Winterson and More which, as you can see, has a lot to choose from. I made a few comments, but it's worth checking the Goodreads blurb for a good list.

Graphic novels bring the classics to life for the visual generations. Gareth Hinds has a new take on Homer's great story, The Iliad. Historic, artistic, and detailed - for young and old. I enjoyed it!

I just finished Forget Me Not by Claire Allan and it was really good. She's a Northern Irish author which was what attracted me to her books in the first place, being from the North myself. Forget Me Not is her 3rd book and I read it in one sitting. I would strongly recommend any of her books, all stand alone stories. I can't decide what to read next.
I'm going to start The Book Party soon. The Last Book Party
This is a book I shouldn't have requested, but I did and I don't remember why? So hopefully it ends up being good. Has anyone read it?
