megan | 1492 comments I’ll be able to cover one. We have until the normal time on Monday, right?

message 852: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments Yup! Will you be able to cover U, or something else?

message 853: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments I think I can get hold of the next Blackwater book by Saturday too (final O). I don’t generally like to read series installments so close together and I just read #2 last weekend, but I want to help the team!
Also, if I don’t read it now I probably wouldn’t until after TT (because it is too short for good points ;D)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Let me look. My vacation starts at 4:30 pm today and I have some updating to do. Then again I am getting married on Saturday.

So the yearly regional head Elk and audit thing is finally over as of last night.

message 855: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments Congrats on both: the end of the audit, and GETTING MARRIED! 🥳

message 856: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Thanks. Our lodge was a mess this year with the audit. Too many people were in positions for too long and stopped doing what was supposed to be done. But the auditing people were very nice and understanding. Plus all those trips to the lodge and back, 35-45 minutes each way (heavy traffic area), mostly by myself made for a lot of audio book time. A couple of times I even plugged my Kindle Touch into my stereo and had that read to me.

My goal is to finish No Rest for the Wicked and Bad-news Cowboy today or early tomorrow. Took tomorrow off but really don't have much to do besides getting my nails done and picking my daughter up from her college.

I can take the U. Or which ever letter is needed.

Alysa H. | 3840 comments I just moved a few things around and decreased our total books from 40 to 37 (changed SPIKY to BY) because it doesn't look like we're gonna get to 40 and I want to make sure that every book that is read can ultimately be used. No wasted books!

@Megan, I filled in something for U, which makes the B in BY the only empty slot now, but I'd be okay to trade the U for the B if you have something you really wanna read for B.
ETA: I might be able to read for both, if my Blackwater book really does show up at the library on time!
Also, can you fill in the R character name for Lost Roses?

@Erin, can you fill in the E character name for My Boss is a Grumpy Werewolf? I had to move that one as well.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments Sure, I'll go eye the new layout now on the spreadsheet.

message 860: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments That works for me. We aren't in contention for the win anyway. Plus my morning plans for tomorrow just got changed.

message 861: by megan (new)

megan | 1492 comments There isn't an R character in Lost Roses. Just E,F,S,V,P

message 862: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Oh shoot. I thought I put No Rest for the Wicked in an I spot and it's in an O spot. There is an R character in it though. (Regin) I can't remember an O character off hand but I can double check. Although it looks like The Tiger has an I character and could be swapped with No Rest for the Wicked.

message 863: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments Uh oh. It said R in the side notes :(
I will have to move that around again... not sure how yet and I have to run for a couple of hours...

BTW I won't be reading my U book. I looked at it and it's much to dense/academic to get through in time.
I will read for B, and look for something else for U if it becomes necessary. I think there's an M/M romance I can grab from library...

You had NR4theW in the I spot in SPIKY, so I moved it to IN (which I had to change from ON).
Great news that it has an R chanarcter though -- I will moved things around again when I get back to office..

message 865: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments Ugh okay -- this is still not working, we need another R...
And now Grumpy Wearewolf doesnt fit
@Erin does it have any R characters?

message 866: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments UGH, I will make this work!!
Really have to go now though

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments Alysa wrote: "Ugh okay -- this is still not working, we need another R...

Hm. Let me go look at the books I have on there and see.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments Wait, yes, there was a Roger for an abusive father he sees in prison.

Alysa H. | 3840 comments OMG that's great!
YAAAAAAAAYYY

So now we're back to needing just a B and a U.
@Megan, I put in my B. Hopefully you will be able to cover the U. I won't know for sure until tomorrow though, so if need be we can still swap then if that's okay with you.

ETA: I'm going to do the U, just grabbed the Kindle library loan! The B is still a maybe though.

If we cannot finish the word "BY", being one book short, hopefully someone's "Y" book has an "A" author/character/series name?
That way we could at least spell "A" from one of the tasks, and at least none of our books will be wasted.
ETA: Score. The Night Tiger (Megan's Y book) has an A character. So if absolutely necessary, we can do that.

message 870: by megan (new)

megan | 1492 comments I can cover whatever. I’ll be going into work on most of Saturday and will be the only one there, so audio books will keep me company.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments I am going to do a lot of binge reading this weekend, so the four open books on the spreadsheet aren't as scary as they first look.

Goodreads is being incredibly glitchy for me today.

message 872: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments Yay weekend binging! I won't be able to add more than the 2 books I've got going now, as I've got a bunch of kid/family stuff this weekend. But for now it looks like we're good.

Go Krakatoa Go Go!

message 873: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments I'm almost done with both of my 2 remaining books.
I could probably have finished The House with a Clock in its Walls last night, but I don't like it very much so I read more of the other one instead!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments I just finished one and about to start the other. I still have three left unmarked, eek

message 875: by Alysa (new)

Eek, yes, good luck!
At least if you end up starting&finishing your last Lava book tomorrow evening after TT starts, you would be able to use the book for both! I think! :)

message 876: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments I finished my last book just before midnight last night!
Woohoo!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments I have one I still need to finish by tonight. My son came over so we're spending time together for a few hours. It will probably be tonight for that book.

Yeah I ran into the awkward in between. I thought that it started tomorrow for me initially so didn't plan it up right. Oh well!

message 879: by megan (new)

megan | 1492 comments I don’t think I’m going to get that B book done. I’ve barely started it and won’t ha e the time to get back to it until late tonight.

message 880: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments Okay, don’t worry. I’ll try to check early in the morning, like 20 minutes before the end of the countdown, just in case you’ve finished it in time.
If you aren’t able, I will change The Night Tiger to an “A” for William Acton. 30 points is fewer than 80 but greater than none. ;)

message 881: by Alysa (last edited Oct 06, 2019 08:52PM) (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments Yeesh, I thought I’d be able to check in a few min before this ends, and add Megan’s final book if she is able to finish it overnight, but what with some time change, it will be 6am here rather than the 7am I was expecting, and I will definitely not be awake.

I went ahead and put The Night Tiger on the official spreadsheet for “A”, but:
@Megan, if you do finish the B book, will you be able to go on official spreadsheet and change the word from “A” to “BY” and enter everything?

Goodnight everyone! This has been fun!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments It was fun!

We didn't get time change here yet, how odd! Surely I did not miss it?

See everyone around the group =-)
