QOTD: Share a book you enjoyed that explores the theme of friendship and camaraderie, ideal for the season of togetherness.

I'm currently making my way through the manga, One Piece. I love the friendship that the characters have. They are always willing to help one another through MANY battles. Definitely a found family type of vibe.

QOTD: In November, do you gravitate towards books with strong, memorable characters or those with rich, atmospheric settings?

I don't read many books with rich, atmospheric settings, so I'll say memorable characters. It's very rare that a character sticks with me, so I suppose that is pretty important for me.
QOTD: November is a time for slowing down. Recommend a book that encourages readers to savor the details and appreciate the small moments.
QOTD: Tomorrow is the end of the month. Are there any current reads or projects that you're trying to finish before December begins?

i wanna finish never whistle at night but idk if i'll be able to

No, I finished the two books I wanted to, gonna aim for two more maybe during December.

No way they will get done, but this what I would like.
Finish two books
- The Silver Dark Sea by Susan Fletcher
- Arcadia by Lauren Groff

I don't see any December releases on my TBR. I think all of my anticipated reads are releasing a few months into next year.

The Lost Tomb: And Other Real-Life Stories of Bones, Burials, and Murder by Douglas Preston

• Ruthless Vows by Rebecca Ross
• Heartstopper: Volume Five by Alice Oseman
• A River of Golden Bones by A.K. Mulford

TBR December
Continuing from November
- The Silver Dark Sea by Susan Fletcher
- Arcadia by Lauren Groff
Planned
- Fledgling by Octavia E. Butler
- Making It So: A Memoir by Patrick Stewart
- Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher
- Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull by James Rollins
- The Book of Flying by Keith Miller
- The Lost Daughter by Elena Ferrante
- Harvey by Mary Chase
- Hag's Nook by John Dickson Carr
- Coma by Robin Cook
- I Met a Traveller in an Antique Land by Connie Willis
Maybe
- Once Upon a Wardrobe by Patti Callahan Henry
- Disco For the Departed by Colin Cotterill
- Just Out of Jupiter's Reach by Nnedi Okorafor
- 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke
..

I wanna finish All The Light We Cannot See, first. Then after that, maybe catch up on the new Enola Holmes books, and then if i manage to accomplish THAT finish my Sparks and Bainbridge mystery series.
QOTD: How many books did you read in November? What were your favorite and least favorite books of the month?

i read 8 & i really liked everything i read pretty equally

Once Upon a Wardrobe
Snow & Rose
Midnight in Everwood
Spinning Silver

I read 6, mostly graphic novels. My favorites of the month were Garlic and the Witch and The Moth Keeper. My least favorite of the month was Brindille.

I read 11 things in November. I read quite a few good manga volumes, and a few really good books. I can't really pick a favorite. I can tell you my least favorite and that was Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica. I can't express my hatred enough.

I would like to finish up what I'm currently reading:
Bad Cree by Jessica Johns
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
One Piece vol 8 by Eiichiro Oda
Copenhagen Trilogy by Tove Ditlevsen
That might be all I get to. If I can get to more, I may add Little Rot by Akwaeke Emezi into the mix.

I read 15 books (quite a few short stories).
Favorites
- Absolution by Ellen J. Green
- A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
Least favorite
- At Christmas Time by Anton Chekhov

1. Woodstove
2. Blanket
3. Good lighting

It doesn't really change for the seasons. I do tend to turn on ambient sounds in the winter, but that's about it.

Cooler weather and just the cozier vibes. I also have an excuse to not go anywhere because it's cold.
QOTD: If you're a fan of hot chocolate, how do you make your cup of cocoa? Also, just for fun, what book would you compare to a cup of hot cocoa, or think is the perfect pairing?

i know people hate this lol but i typically just make mine with water. sometimes i use milk but most the time i don't. for the book i'm gonna say one i just read which is the girl from the other side series by nagabe

I usually just do milk and hot cocoa mix lol.
Garlic and the Vampire or Garlic and the Witch by Bree Paulsen. They're such cute and cozy graphic novels.

For the sake of convenience, I typically use a hot cocoa mix with milk. I sometimes add a splash of vanilla into the milk while it's heating up and I add a good dash of cinnamon into my hot cocoa mix. Once all of that is combined, I sometimes will top with whipped cream or marshmallows, but not always.
I think the perfect pairing for a mug of hot cocoa would be Greenglass House by Kate Milford. It's an incredibly cozy middle grade that is perfect to read in winter, especially around Christmas. This is essentially a mug of hot cocoa and a comfy blanket in book form.

Some of my favorite books set in winter:
The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
Greenglass House by Kate Milford
Dead Voices by Katherine Arden
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
No Exit by Taylor Adams

i don't really remember any books i've read set in winter but i read moon of the crusted snow by wabgeshig rice recently and really liked it

Moon of the Crusted Snow by Waubgeshig Rice
No Exit by Taylor Adams
Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan (I enjoyed it enough to include it lol.)

I don't think it was wholly set in winter but the first book that came to mind was The Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn.

Jennifer McMahon - In April, I read 1 book by her, then went on to read 7 more. She writes weird, paranormal books. I never guess where she is going with it. Great new author find.

Morgan Talty - I've read a short story and a novel by him and enjoyed both a lot. He's a very talented writer, and I'm excited for his new one that's coming out next year.
Adam Haslett - I've only read one book by him but it's in my top 5 books of the year.

Ava Reid – I read The Wolf and the Woodsman and really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to reading more of her books.
Bree Paulsen – I read Garlic and the Vampire and Garlic and the Witch and absolutely adored both of them.
Simone St. James – I read The Broken Girls and really enjoyed it and I can't wait to pick up more by her.
Jennifer McMahon – I read The Drowning Kind and really liked it the twisty suspense. I'm looking forward to reading more by her.
Emily Rath – I read these two hockey romances, That One Night and Pucking Around, as a buddy read and it was pretty spicy. It was my first hockey romances and they were pretty good. I'm probably going to read the sequel next year. The novella was super quick but the first book was over 700 pages.
H.D. Carlton – I decided to read some dark romance this year and one of them was from a new-to-me author. The Carlton book I started with was Haunting Adeline and it has been the darkest book I've read so far. I do plan on continuing with the sequel and more of her work.
I'm also including Samantha Shannon – I started reading The Priory of the Orange Tree at the end of 2022 and finished it at the beginning of 2023. I absolutely loved it!
