I knew I'd enjoy Elizabeth Strout's latest book, Oh William!, and I was right. She knows people inside and out, and it is a delight to be caught up in her stories. This is Lucy Barton's memoir, but you don't need to have read My Name Is Lucy Barton first. It's a standalone.

I'm a fan of picture books that will prompt ongoing conversations between grown-ups and children. Together Again: A Story About Joy by Kochka is about a little boy who's about to burst with anticipation!
4.5★ Link to my review of Together Again with several of the exuberant illustrations
Right now I am reading To the Summit: A Woman's Journey Into the Mountains to Find Her Soul. I love the subject (climbing Mt. Everest), the author does a lot of whining and talks to her head ... Martha ... way too much, but I plan to finish it.
Here is my 5 star review of Forgotten in Death
by J.D. Robb. This is the 53rd book in the Eve Dallas In Death near future police procedural / romantic suspense series and gets me current on the series. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
My Name is Anton by Catherine Ryan Hyde will be enjoyed by her fans. I also think younger readers would like this story of a young man in love.

I must read more Jeffery Deaver! I enjoyed his latest Amazon Original Story, Cause of Death, which could easily have been deveoped into a novel. While the title may not be unique, the cause of death certainly is.

Finished Affaire Royale last night. It’s an early romance by Nora Roberts and was good, though I did correctly guess who the perpetrator was.
I finished reading Tainted Bodies
by Sarah Robinson. This is book 1 in The Photographer romantic suspense trilogy and ends with a cliffhanger. Luckily, I have all 3 books and will be reading the other two in August. My 3.5 star review rounded to 3 stars: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Started Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly yesterday, which has been in Mount TBR far too long. Am about halfway through and enjoying it. Very readable and not dry as a lot of nonfiction can be. (And no, I have not yet seen the movie.)
My review for
The Last of the Apple Blossom by Mary-Lou Stephens https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Finished last night. I saw that some people thought this was dry, but I did not feel that at all. I rarely read nonfiction because I find most of it dull and dry, but this book kept my attention throughout, and I read it in 2-1/2 days — even with the distraction of the Olympics.

"Revolutions never start at the top." Aussie social psychologist Hugh Mackay has studied and written about the Australian community for decades. The Kindness Revolution: How we can restore hope, rebuild trust and inspire optimism is a terrific resource for anyone wanting to make a difference, not only in Australia.

I loved Akwaeke Emezi's debut novel, Freshwater, but I think other readers will enjoy The Death of Vivek Oji more than I did. Love, sex, acceptance.

I finished reading Chosen by Fate
by Virna DePaul. This is the second book in the Para-Ops series and can be classified as urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and supernatural suspense. Unfortunately, it didn't hold my attention. My short 2 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I just finished Code of Honor
and am now reading Bridge of Souls
. AFter 11 cozies in a row, I was in need of something else and middle grade was calling my name.
Listened to Letters to a Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke this afternoon. Very philosophical and thought-provoking.
I finished reading Her Deadly Touch
by Lisa Regan who brings murder, drama, grief, and suspense to a well-written and dramatic police procedural and crime thriller set in Denton, Pennsylvania. This is the twelfth book in the Detective Josie Quinn series and the third book that I have read by this author. My 5 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I also finished a humorous short story. Cost of Care by Betsy Robinson. My 5 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Reading Spellbound by Rebecca York, a paranormal rom-suspense from 2005 (a Popsugar challenge book).
Currently reading The Lodger by Marie Belloc Lowndes. It's listed as a suspense novel and, boy, is it ever!
Currently reading For White Folks Who Teach in the Hood... and the Rest of Y'all Too: Reality Pedagogy and Urban Education
. I am not a teacher, but a librarian in a rural area, but I love reading teaching pedagogy and this book has been on my radar for awhile.

Thanks, Brenda. Just finished and it was a pretty decent paranormal.

I loved John Boyne's latest novel, a satire about The Echo Chamber that is Twitter. The Cleverley family is less than clever, but oh, so funny, as they learn what being cancelled means.

I often admit that I have a soft spot for short stories, and I've just read two very different ones. Both are FREE and I've included links where you can find them.Well-known author Amor Towles wrote The Line about a simple Russian peasant, Pushkin, who finds contentment easily, while his wife keeps seeking greener pastures.
4★ Link to my review of The Line On a completely different and funny note -
Cost of Care by Betsy Robinson is an extremely short story that is bound to delight you! Spare a few minutes to see a pair of entitled folk get their come-uppance. Supremely satisfying!

I am reading Eleanor
by David Michaelis. a very good biography of Eleanor Roosevelt. Some biographies can be sleepers but this is very good. Lots of interesting information.
