When You're Not Reading a Cozy
Based on a real event in Poland in 1941, Winter Journey by Aussie author Diane Armstrong is a reminder of what we are capable of, both good and bad.

finishing up a middle grade graphic novel based on a true story of a refugee from Somalia. When Stars Are Scattered
I don't read her other series, but I have started the Fox and O'Hare series from Janet Evanovich. I've read the latest,
The Bounty, co-written with Steve Hamilton. It's improbable and over the top, but fun. Here's my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished a historical fantasy/paranormal romance/supernatural suspense novel: Bloody Good
by Georgia Evans. This book is the first book of a trilogy. My 2 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finished The Secret of Cypriere Bayou by Jana Deleon, a rom-suspense plucked from Mount TBR. Good mystery in this one, as well as a really creepy house. (Shiver)
My review for
The Funny Thing about Norman Foreman by Julietta Hendersonhttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Aussie B Michael Radburn is a reliable, go-to author for thrilling mysteries. The Reach is the third featuring Park Ranger Taylor Bridges in a beautiful (though terrifying!) Australian bush setting.

Open Water, a novella by British-Ghanaian author Caleb Azumah Nelson, is a poetic, complicated, lyrical love story, some of which I loved.

Booker-winning, Tasmanian Richard Flanagan has written a remarkable parable for our times. During Australia's Black Summer of bushfires, three adult children play tug-of-war over their dying mother, while her mind is often floating in The Living Sea of Waking Dreams. Suspension of disbelief is required, as the daughter's finger disappears and almost nobody notices.

On a bright, cheery note, My Monsterpiece by Amalia Hoffman is a terrific little book that will make your fingers itch to open up the craft box!

I am reading The Easter Sepulchre
by Mel Starr. I have read every book in the series and enjoy them greatly. Book is set in 1347, in Bampton England. Excellent glossary in the front to help us with unfamiliar terms. I recommend starting with book 1.
I finished a coming of age paranormal fantasy and supernatural suspense novel with a medieval-like setting. This is book 2 in the series: The Scarred Man
by Rory SurtainMy 4 star review:

I have started Band of Sisters
by Lauren Willig. Set in 1917, Smith alums go to help France during WWI. Here books are always well written with good character development. Enjoying the book so far.
I finished the last book on my April TBR last night. The Guest List
by Lucy Foley. There are so many great reviews on this one. Unfortunately, mine isn't one of those.
My 2 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I'm going to finish Hounds Abound
by Linda O. Johnston next.
I just enjoyed Trust, the third of Aussie author, journalist, and former foreign correspondent Chris Hammer's Martin Scarsden series. Sydney is at its corrupt, murderous worst.

I was pleased to see Mary Anning added to the Little People BIG DREAMS series by Mª Isabel Sánchez Vegara. All kids love collecting things, so they'd enjoy seeing how this little girl grew up finding fossils and becoming famous.

Everybody's Fool by Richard Russo is the long-awaited sequel to the popular Nobody's Fool. I'm happy to report that Sully and all were still at their stations in the White Horse and Hattie's when I left. (But you'll want to stay clear of the dog.)

I finished The Family Plot
by Megan Collins.My 4 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Read two short stories (20-22 pgs ea) last couple days and started listening to the audiobook of Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury. Enjoying this, but wishing I had a printed copy.

Brenda—
You’re not wrong! I rarely listen to audiobooks, but a print copy isn’t presently in the budget, and I was lucky to find a free audio version on YouTube. I got halfway through it this afternoon, about 4-1/2 hours left. I was planning to listen to more this evening, but just had a sudden nasty headache hit, so am taking a break.

That's no good Heather! I hope your headache passes quickly - nothing worse when you're trying to read :(
I took some Ibuprofen, had dinner and laid down for a bit and it did help some. Still have a slight headache, but was able to listen to another two hours of my book. About two hours left for tomorrow.
I am quite enjoying Dandelion Wine. It’s told in a series of vignettes (40 chapters, some short, some longer) chronicling a summer in a small town in Illinois. Many of the “stories” are told from the point of view of two brothers, age 10 and 12, others from the POV of adults. Some are funny and sweet, others sad or suspenseful. Highly recommend it! I’m glad I was able to find an audio version free on YouTube!
