When You're Not Reading a Cozy

Loved that series, wish it had been longer.

Same here; I used to buy the paperbacks new. It was a little dark but still good.

The main branch library was getting rid of all of their mass markets paperbacks and I picked up three of the books in the series. I ordered the second one from another library and am excited to dig in. I really enjoyed the first.

I haven't read this since I was a kid and am thoroughly enjoying the story.

Some people make arrangements for their own, inevitable Exit from life, but things don't go to plan in this mystery by Belinda Bauer. I loved its warmth and humour.

I enjoy this series a lot. It reminds me of the Sue Grafton books.

I Set in 1930's during the Great Depression, drought etc.
Ms. Hannah writes beautifully but it is not the most exciting time to write about. Reminds me of Grapes of Wrath. Haven't decided how much I like it yet I am only 100 pages into the book. Will keep you posted. Has anyone else read it?

Batter Up!! Antisocial Major Leaguer meets his match.
My Review

Lots of suspense, a sweet, slow romance and a surprise baddie at the end.
My Review

Last Book in Series?? Stolen art and poison mushrooms
My Review

An opposites attract romance and a plot of murder to derail a trade accord

Finished Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston this afternoon. A bit slow-going with the dialect, but a powerful read, especially the ending.

This mainly covers two years in the early career of a woman photographer (who later becomes famous as an American documentary photographer and photojournalist.). It largely covers 1918-1920. The novel is biographical historical fiction, not non-fiction. However, I learned a lot and even read more about Dorothea Lange online.

I read it. I agree it's not the most interesting time period, action wise, but it was a very well written and depressing book! What those people went through is just so sad. I hope you enjoy it!

Spent a couple hours last night reading The Mouse and the Motorcycle in memory of Beverly Cleary, who died last Thursday. A fun adventure, no matter how old you are!

I loved her books so much growing up, I happen to have a nearly new Dell Yearling copy of Beezus and Ramona near the computer that I read for a challenge last year. I hope to read it again soon in her honor.

Sad news, but what a nice idea, Heather. Ramona was a family favourite in our house.
