Ryan Hunter has established himself as a renown photographer through out the world. He is going back home per the request of a woman who is having a centennial in his hometown. Unbeknownst to her that he is not welcome or wanted by many of the community and certainly by his father and brother. After his mother left and never returned and never tried to even contact him, the family has blamed each other and hateful and unfeeling remarks and actions separated them. His brother Andrew married a woman he was in love with, and finds out she is dead (supposedly Ryans fault) and a child is involved. Kara Delaney has returned home after an awful marriage and is trying to make a new life for her and her daughter. She too knows the abandon issues, after her own father left and never came back. Bring in a major flood of the river to bring family, friends and community back together. Did I mention the ghost? This was such a fun, enjoyable read. So heartwarming and heart wrenching at times. A story of pain, anger, misunderstandings, love, many surprises and forgiveness and of course...romance! This is a book that stands on its own. I have always enjoyed Barbara's books, and this one is another one added to the list. 5 stars

Lucinda Carlson is a slave to her guardian and step brother after the death of her parents. When her aunt dies, she finds she is heir to the entire estate. The rest of the family is so angry that they have received nothing. The only catch is that Lucinda must travel from Boston to Chicago where her aunt lived. Lucinda's cousin, Eustace, plans on fighting the will. Lucinda and the aunts attorney begin to travel to Chicago. Predictably, the stage is attacked, people killed and torched. Leaving all dead except Lucinda. Sebastian who is a widower and sheep farmer comes across the massacre and saves Lucinda. She stays at his ranch while she recuperates. The story continues with many twists and turns, suspense and turmoil. And of course, romance. A clean romance. This was a delight to read and was hard to put down. Although the author is British, I felt she did a great job in reenacting the times and area. 5 stas

Romancing Mister Bridgerton

Colin and Penelope - Friendship that catches fire.
My Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Thea and Freddie, the now Viscount of Willowdale, are brother and sister have recently lost their parents in a robbery. Freddie is anxious for Thea to marry and would prefer her to marry in her own class, yet he has promised to let Thea decide who she will marry after she has her ball and meets other suitors. Freddie would like her to marry Robert, Freddie's best friend. Robert is over determined to make Thea his wife. Liam, the son of the housekeeper has also known Thea since childhood and is very much in love with her. But being a commoner, he knows he will never be able to ask for her hand, let alone tell her how he truly feels about her. This story is full of family binds, jealousy, evil, suspense and intrigue. Add mystery and romance and it is a good read. The reason I only reviewed it with 3 stars, is because it was too long and way too drawn out. The plot, dialogue, and explaining everyone's feelings over and over again became very mundane. I felt I was scanning over parts of the book to get to an interesting part.

A little suspense and a lot of sex

Chlodie Invermore has the gift of the Sight. Her father has told her all her life that she is mad and has forbidden her to even talk about it. A vision of a wounded soldier leads to reality when she discovers him by the stables. After fixing his wounds, he needs to leave to keep her safe from any of the rebels after him. Domnall Dunning is on the run until he is caught by Douglas from Duncliff. When Chlodie goes to Duncliff herself to speak to the healer, she is so surprised to see the man she has fallen in love with there. As the story transpires, their is romance, suspense and mystery. A fun, fast read. 5 stars

Cute Kid, Cute Dog and Everyone lives Happily Ever After
My Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Squire Ackerman has been honorably discharged from the army with a severe leg injury following an explosion. After many surgeries, he is now back on his family's ranch working as a foreman. His parents want to retire, but there is a lot of money missing from the ranch's account which no one knows about but himself. Kelly Russell is back home with her son after an awful divorce. She is hired by the Ackerman's as their accountant after the previous one died. She too is baffled by missing money and accounts. Squire and Kelly grew up together along with Squire's sister Chelsea. The two of them work hours together to find files and documents. What they find about the missing money and about each other is a true, inspirational, loving romance. The story includes love of family, romance, forgiveness, and even some mystery and suspense. Although there were some editing issues, I really enjoyed this book. It just made you feel good inside. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could.
**I was given this book free and this is my honest review**

A very good western historical story about a Native American baby girl who was left at the door step at the Graysons home back in the olden days and was raised as their own daughter. There isn't anything anyone wouldn't do for her. They gave her an education and never let her think anything less of herself for not being white. The family and town grew to love her and she had an uncanny gift of of figuring numbers and dealing with horses. Yet still, there is that nagging feeling of why her natural parents left her. Cate meets the Grayson's nephew Reilly, when he comes to town by his fathers assistance to start a warehouse out post there. They are both drawn to each other, but a future with a white man with a native girl was not acceptable in those days. The story is about family, love, acceptance and of course, romance. And their is the evil father of Reilly who comes for his son after hearing that not only has he hired a native girl to work for him, but is also enthralled with her. There is much suspense and excitement in this story. It keeps you guessing as you read. The reason I did not give it a five star review is because the editing was horrendous and I felt the authors writing flow was very choppy. I felt the paragraphs could have flowed together better. But I would definitely recommend this book. 4 stars
**This book was given to me free and this is my honest review.**
