Kamlesh Kaltari (kamleshkaltari) | 2 comments Tenu Main ‘Leh’ Javanga: Journey of 8 Ordinary Men

About the book :

Through this book, I would take the readers on a virtual trip by gliding through the long, winding roads of one of the most picturesque places on planet earth – Leh Ladakh! Accompanying me on this trip are 7 ordinary individuals, who have never done a bike ride let alone visited mountainous terrains with an altitude of 11,562 ft…

Here we are… 8 amateur riders… seeking the pleasure of losing our bikers’ virginity to the place or as its most commonly said – “Getting Leh’d”…

This book is my attempt to pen down the emotions each one of us went through during our maiden 10-day road trip to Leh Ladakh, to relive the moments and hopefully, to inspire others to take the plunge into a once-in-a-lifetime experience…

Being a real-life story, I have abstained from any fiction or suspense but for the travel enthusiasts who love thrills and have a passion to explore the world as is, it would be worth a read! With this book, I hope to encourage my fellow readers to achieve their aspirations in life or at least experience what it means to “go out of the comfort zone”

I finished reading In Darkness Visible a couple of weeks ago, but have been delaying my review while I decide which country to claim it for! Rather than The Netherlands as I'd initially indicated, I'm going to say this is Croatia. One of my favourite reads of 2019, but I highly recommend reading The Twentieth Man first.

Nadine in California (nadinekc) I just left an ersatz medieval Japan (and I mean that in a good way) with Automatic Eve.

Shomeret | 520 comments I have recently been on what was for me a very troubling trip to Poland with Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead by Olga Tokarczuk

The ending bothered me. See my review at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I was in Trinidad with 'Til the Well Runs Dry and really liked it - 4 stars - might do a review later. I highly recommend the audio, which added to the experience - accents, voices, and all.

Shomeret | 520 comments I was in Belgium during WWII with Resistance members who were planning a satiric newspaper. The book was The Ventriloquists by Evan Roxanna Ramzipoor.

I thought it was terrific. I learned about Resistance journalists in WWII. I'd never read about them previously.

I ended the year with a visit to Mexico with Anita Desai's The Zigzag Way. It's a fairly slim novel that I picked up secondhand, attracted by both the author and the cover. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

The Zigzag Way by Anita Desai
