Oh well, their bad luck.

That's the problem with behemoths like Amazon Marianne you end up serving them when it should be the other way around.

This time I had a look at the guidelines, which say:
Eligibility
To contribute to Customer features (for example, Customer Reviews, Customer Answers, Idea Lists) or to follow other contributors, you must have spent at least $50 on Amazon.com using a valid credit or debit card in the past 12 months. Promotional discounts don't qualify towards the $50 minimum.
Well, that's me out! My spending with them is rather sporadic, so I'll just write them off as far as reviews go.
Indeed, Andrea, no chance of me spending $50 or 40 pounds at either Amazon, so their loss. But also sad for the authors whose work we want to support :(

I can sort of understand Amazon's reasoning - I mostly get free kindle books and the occasional 0.99 to 2.99 books. I certainly don't spend $40 (or whatever currency).
Still, there is always Goodreads :)

I recently read In Blossom, a very attractive children's picture book by Cheon Yooju about making friends. I have misgivings about sharing lunch, though!

Mr. Bridge (1969) is the husband of Mrs. Bridge (1959), quite a pair of books by Evan S. Connell. Excellent portrait of a difficult man, which explains a lot about her. (Read hers first.)
