Hi, Alexandria! I can't believe I didn't realize I had questions waiting--sorry to be slow.
I hope you enjoy Bliss House. It was a blast to write, and as I wrote it, I wasn't really sure what was going to happen next. I had an idea of how it would end, but that was it. Now I'm working on Bliss House #2, set in the 1950s. Loving the research. Thanks so much for reading! L.(less)

Yellow Skies and Devil’s Oven

Red sky at night, sailor’s delight.

Red sky at morning, sailor’s warning.

At our house, we’ve added a half-serious, half-ridiculous line to the saying: Yellow sky, prepare to die. Pretty extreme, yes. It comes from my growing up in tornado-prone landscapes. The pre-tornado skies usually progressed from rainy, to cloudy and still, to yellow, and then tornadoes. I don’t know if this is true everywhere

“Time is irrelevant in Bliss House. BLISS HOUSE, the first novel in the series, is mostly set in the present. CHARLOTTE’S STORY takes place in 1957. A third novel, THE ABANDONED HEART (available 2016), will tell the story of the house’s first residents. (You’ll find excerpts from BLISS HOUSE and CHARLOTTE’S STORY in the back of this ebook.)”

“Nicole had kept the word cathartic as a kind of souvenir.”

“Before taking the first drink, he shook away the hank of blonde bangs that were always falling in his eyes. It was an oddly feminine move for a guy who was so unabashedly masculine.”
