Shaun Hughes | 1 comments I'm Shaun from the UK.

Found this group via a friend who joined it.

I read 34 books last year, and aiming for 40 this year.

I mainly read SF and fantasy but like to break it up with non fiction, drama and crime.

Madelyn Hello! I'm Maddy and I'm from the United States! I am very new to good reads so I hope I am doing this correctly. I am a HUGE bookworm and even had a book blog. I enjoy all genres of literature but my favorites are the classics, contemporary, and horror. My goal is a bit of a stretch but I want to read 50 books!!! Wish me luck :)

Olaoye Oluwabusayo (amygdalina) | 5 comments Hello, I'm Hannah! I am from Nigeria! My favourite genres are Fantasy, mystery and thrillers. My reading goal for 2019 is 100 books and I'm kicking off the year with An Enchantment of Raven... May we always find wonderful books to read

Dyn Dynasty | 1 comments Hello everyone, my name is Michelle, just found this group and entered to keep in pace in 2019 reading challenge. My 2019 goal is to read 50 books, that splits into 5 books in a month. I'm starting reading "Subtle art of not giving a fuck" and "Becoming" by Michelle Obama.
I'm interested to read self-help, nonfiction books but this year I will read more philosophy and spiritual books.

I am definitely on the side of hard copies but I did receive a kindle for Christmas so I'm might take on a few ereads, although I will probably use it mostly for news and youtube. Holding an actual book in my hand will always have my heart, though!

message 206: by Ali (new)

Ali Hello, all. I'm Alison, and I'm from the Houston area. I found this group by peeking into the Community section after popping on to Goodreads to update my reading goals for the year.

I'm a chronic re-reader, especially when I'm stressed and curling up with a well-loved book is a comfort, so my goal is to read 50 new-to-me books in 2019. I'd also like to branch out into new genres since I tend to focus primarily on mysteries, romance, and nonfiction about teaching.

message 207: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 31 comments Hi everyone! I'm Tessa. I'm originally from Texas, but have lived in Oregon and Nebraska. I like to read a variety of things, but I particularly like dystopian books. However I looked for this group because I love to hear views and reviews on other books! My aim this year is to read 50 books this year. message 227: by Ddub (new)

Ddub | 1 comments Hello and Happy New Year! I
I'm Deanna and I live in California. I've never explored GoodReads book clubs before but I was just perusing around and this one sounded pretty low key. I just set my goal at 12 books- a nice simple one per month. I used to be one of those people who wanted to read but didn't know what books to get, until a friend suggested using Goodreads best books of the year lists. I read a few of the 2018 winners and that has introduced me to lots of great authors. I'm currently reading Beneath a Scarlet Sky. Looking forward to hearing about all the great books out there!

message 228: by Demi (new)

Demi (demireads) Hello everyone I'm Demi and I live in Australia. I used to read just YA books but now I'm branching out to read adult fiction, mystery, thriller, contemporary, fantasy and sci fi.

I found this group by looking at other people's profiles.

My reading goal is 15 books.

message 229: by Ellie (new)

Ellie Hello everybody and happy 2019!!
I'm Ellie and I'm from Australia. I joined this group approximately two minutes ago, but I had found it about it few days ago when I was perusing the community section. This is the first group on here I have joined.
I'm open to read anything, but my usual genres include fantasy, historical fiction, YA, and adventure novels. My reading goal this year is 22 books, up from the 20 I read next year. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is reading!

message 230: by Andy (new)

message 231: by Merry (new)

Merry Rabb Hi I'm Merry and I'm from the US (North Carolina). I've been on Goodreads for a while and found this group while looking through the "Community" section. I read 14 books last year and am hoping to read 20 this year. I read mostly novels and a lot of what I think is called literary fiction, but I also like mysteries as well as some historical novels, biographies and memoirs. I like to travel and I like to read books that are about (or take place in) places I have been or want to go. I'm looking forward to hearing about what everyone is reading, get some new ideas for my "want to read" shelf and generate some discussion.

message 232: by Jeffrey (new)

Jeffrey (jwhitsitt) | 183 comments Hi, Jeff from Tennessee.
I read mostly Science Fiction and Fantasy, but my goal this year is to read more non-fiction.
Looking forward to participating in some group and buddy reads.

message 233: by Donna (new)

Donna (gapeach05) Hi Everyone, my name is Donna. I work in a private library and have only recently gotten back to my love of reading. I spent one too many years studying in college and after being forced to read books that were not of interest to me, for a short while; I just could not read a book for anything as a result. That being said, working in a library certainly has its perks; but helping me to re-discover my love for reading is certainly one of the best.

My goal for 2019 is 20 books. For 2018, even though I only began my job in September, I managed to read 12 books (one of which, I finished in 3 days time, the last week of the year).

message 239: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 13 comments Hi All! My name is Ashley and I live in Southern California. I really like reading romantic comedies, but right now am reading the Harry Potter series.

I was checking out the groups as I want to get back into reading more.

For right now, my only goal is to read more. I hope to get through 40 (or more) books this year.

message 240: by Dixie (new)

Dixie (dixietenny) Greetings everyone and happy new year! I'm Dixie and I live in St. Louis, Missouri, USA (though my heart is in Britain). I have been an enthusiastic reader all my life. At the moment I'm reading mostly scifi and science fact but that can change without notice. I like participating in reading challenges here on Goodreads and on Habitica, to keep my reading varied and to keep discovering great new books. 2019 is going to be a busy year for me but I'm hoping to read 125 books by the end of it.

message 241: by Amber (new)

Amber | 21 comments Hello everybody. This is my first year doing a reading challenge, though I try to read every day. My name is Amber, I live in Virginia USA, I'm a newly minted 38 year old and mother to 4 kids.

While I love to read, between working full time and having a family, I don't have the chance to read as much as I want, so I've set the goal at 30 books for the year and I'm hoping I'm not being too ambitious with that.

I'm not sure I have a particular favorite genre, if it sounds interesting, I'll generally read it. I'm not a huge fan of history per se, but again it depends. I really love post apocalyptic stuff, space stuff, YA, and plenty in between. I don't tend to gravitate towards non-fiction, but I have read some here and there.

It's good to meet you all!

message 242: by Anoop (new)

Anoop Hi
Anoop here from India.
I have been failing miserably in all the reading challenges I put up for myself in the last 2-3 years.
Maybe I couldn't do it as I was trying to do it alone.
So joining this group should help and push me to get to my goals.

Planning on reading 30 books this year.

Like both Non fiction and Fiction. No particular genre.

Would love to get hold of books like Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.

Currently reading Murakami's IQ 84.

message 243: by Ariel (new)

Ariel (rellie) | 1 comments Hi, I'm Ariel. I'm from Washington, DC. My goal this year is 70 books and I love romantic-suspense and sci-fi equally. If you recommend a book that combines both of those, we'll be friends for life. :)

message 244: by Tiffani Reads (new)

Tiffani Reads Hi I’m Tiffani, and I’m new here 👋🏻

A bit about me, I’m from Canada 🇨🇦, I will read almost any genre but I gravitate towards fantasy, historical fiction, and sci-fi/dystopian.

My reading goal for 2019 is 75 books!

Looking forward to interacting with this group!

message 245: by Richard (new)

Richard Craven Greetings all. My name is Richard, I'm Anglo-Canadian and live in Bristol in Southwest England. I'm a middle-aged ex-academic philosopher, and mostly read classical literary fiction. I've set myself a 2019 Reading Challenge of 25 books, which I suspect is going to be very difficult to achieve, as I'm also going to try to read the entirety of Proust in the original French, in which I am decidedly subfluent.

message 246: by Richard (new)

Richard Craven Since you like historical fiction, may I recommend Charles Dickens's two historical fictions, Tale of Two Cities and - something of a personal favourite - Barnaby Rudge.

message 247: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 03, 2019 04:47PM) (new)

Hi all!
I love to read Clean YA fiction, Sci-fi, Fantasy and anything Dystopian.
My record for most pages in one day is 526...
My reading goal is to read 200 books in 2019.

message 248: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Marie | 1 comments Hello, I'm Amanda and I enjoy all kinds of genres. Mystery and Fantasy are my favorite.
My 2019 goal is to read 15 books

message 249: by Michelle RA (new)

Michelle RA (michellelfitzpatrick) Hi everyone, my name is Michelle and I am from the UK!

I found this group as I was looking for something to help me achieve my reading goal - last year I had a few reading slumps and found it difficult to reach my target (I did with a day to spare) so hopefully this group will help 😁.

My reading genre varies, depending on what I feel like reading; although my main genres are YA and crime/thriller.

My reading goal this year is 50 books - fingers crossed I reach it!
