My name is Manda, I’m a 24 year old student from the Netherlands.
Usually I only combine my hobby reading with my other hobby traveling, but I’m really trying to read more at home. I hope to join some challenges to motivate me extra and give an extra dimension to choosing what books to read.
For now my challenge is set at 24 books in 2019.
Also hope to get in touch with some people to discuss books and get some recommendations :)

Catie Watson (catiew) I'm Catie from California. My goal is 50 books this year and I thought it would be fun to work towards it with a group. Looking forward to the year in reading!

message 309: by Jenna (new)

Jenna Vargas | 1 comments Hi everyone!
I finally got back into officially reading after a year and a half hiatus, and honestly, I've never felt better. Now that I'm finally over my reading block, I've been diving into new books lately. The first book I finished for this year was Carry On by Rainbow Rowell, which was absolutely amazing, and I hope to continue with my goal of reading 30 books for 2019. Right now I'm in the process of reading Gone Girl and listening to the audiobook of Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. I'm confident that I'll be able to accomplish my goal and I'm glad to be a part of this community.

Albert Success (cootla) | 1 comments Hello Everyone,

I am Albert from Ghana, currently studying in Russia.

I love reading all kinds of books especially romance, science, mystery and philosophical books.

I joined this group to challenge myself, and read more books this year.

message 312: by Evi (new)

Evi Hello! My name is Evi, and I'm from Hungary. I joined this group today, because I'm interested in reading challenges and such things. Plus I want to develop my English, as well as I want to make book buddies. :) I love reading - books, ebooks on my Kindle, sometimes I listen audiobooks, but I prefer reading.
My favourite genres are mystery, crime, thriller, and I like reading SF stories nowadays, so I add sci-fi to my list too. Sometimes I feel the need of funny, lighthearted books, that's when I choose chick-lit books.
My reading goal for this year to read 50 books. That's about one book per week, I hope I can reach this number.

Good luck with your challenge! I like the same genres and am curious to see what you'll read and maybe get some inspiration!

Sam Hi everyone I'm Samantha (25) and I'm from Scotland. I'm new to Good Reads and still trying to figure out how to use it out.

I normally read paranormal/fantasy/romance books albeit for 2019 I'm trying to broaden my literary horizons and read some classics and have just started Little Woman. My goal is to read at least 1 classic a month and then an extra of my usual tastes if time.

I've joined this group as I'd love to keep track and meet other like minded people and find a few recommendations!

Rashid (biocoderrashid) | 4 comments Hey Everyone!

I'm Rashid and I'm originally from Bangladesh but living in the United States. I joined the group yesterday and just wrote down in a thread about the books I wanted to read for 2019. I'm mostly into non-fiction and science(slowly shifted from fiction to non-fiction in my early 20's) and open to almost any book which captures my interest. I was looking for a way to be accountable about what I am reading and interact with people who are also determined to read more this year and I found this to be the first group on goodreads! My reading goal is to get close to 24 books within the year so fingers crossed!

Looking forward to interacting with you guys on this platform :)

Hi!
I'm Alessandra, I live in Switzerland and I've joined this group because I like to read books and I want to set myself a goal this year (my goal will be 10 books, but school books don't count). My boyfriend got me Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen for christmas, which inspired me to do this challenge. I'll be reading 9 classics and a book I got long ago but never started reading.
If anyone has any suggestions on good classics feel free to comment.

I prefer reading science fiction and fantasy but I am trying to expand my reading horizons, so any suggestions and recommendations will be welcome.

I am aiming to read at least 20 books this year.

message 334: by Mary (new)

Mary | 13 comments Hey there! I'm Mary from the Atlanta, GA area. I work full-time and have two young children, so reading time is limited. I also knit a lot (and do other crafts) but I've decided to re-prioritize reading this year! I was really disappointed in how little I read in 2018 - only 21 books - when I read easily over a 100 in 2014. Years ago, I got addicted to paranormal romance and contemporary romance. Then I moved on to romantic suspense and thrillers. One year, my reading numbers were affected because I read a lot of fanfiction and I didn't count those books/stories. More recently, I'm back to reading literary fiction and non-fiction too. I'll basically read just about anything if it's good.

I love talking about books and reading, and I was updating my info on Goodreads when I stumbled upon this group. I hope to be more involved in discussions and challenges. This year, I'm hoping to read at least 30 books, which is a conservative number. Hopefully I'll read even more!

Keri Sparks | 650 comments Hello World of 2019 Readers!!

I'm Keri and I'm from Wisconsin! I am a hobby artist/author, but mostly a fairly dedicated reader. I love fantasy and mangas (how could I not? It's beautiful art and fantastic stories crammed into one book!). I also have a dog named Fable (because she looks like the perfect storybook dog) and a cat named Sushi (because the word is so much fun to say and I love going around the house singing her name . . . most of the time she responds which just tickles me pink).
I'm in love with the idea of having a reader buddy/penpal/confidante/twin, but am too lazy (mostly just too selfish) to put the work and effort into finding the right partner. One of these days though!
I joined Goodreads back in 2016 and I believe I joined this group same year. I love this group. I am so glad I discovered them. It is an amazing group of people with so much fun stuff going on. My goal for 2020 (because it is sooooo not going to happen this year) is to put aside my quantity reading goal and do every challenge possible that this group offers and become way more involved in it.
I also love traveling. This year I will be going to Iceland in April (flight, place, attractions already booked and paid for!). I am so excited about traveling that I have already planned out my trips up to the next 8 years (after that, I will grow up and become an adult and settle down and do normal adult things) and the places include but are not limited to: Thailand, Ireland, Scotland, London, Costa Rica, Bali (SP?) and hopefully Brazil or New Zealand. I haven't figured out which yet.

I wish you all a fantastic reading year and would love to get to know more of you better. =DDD

Alexis Hello, I'm Alexis. I'm 21 from England and I work full time in a bookstore. I joined Goodreads earlier on today after a coworker recommended it for keeping my want to read list in one place. I pretty much read anything that grabs my attention. I would love to chat with some people about what books they've found brilliant over the years, I love hearing peoples opinions about books and how passionate they can be whilst talking about them. I'm hoping to read 50 books this year or more!

I am Shobha from Canada. I love reading books.. I love reading suspense, fiction, classics and biographies. My goal for 2019 is 15 books. I am currently reading Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari which I started a month back. The very first book I read was ‘Not without my daughter’ by Betty Mahmoody and would recommend that book to everyone!

Happy reading everyone!! 📚😃

If all Goodreads had was a way to keep track of all your read books, I would love it still solely for that. This is the best website I have come across about keeping tracks of Reads, finding Want to Reads, and offering all the stats of reading that I care to know. (Although, this is the ONLY website I know of so my bragging on it isn't really saying all that much. LOL).
I'm a little jealous of you working in a bookstore. I love bookstores. I love books. I love getting books super super cheap.
I also really love library book sales which my grandmother's town's library has an amazing one every year (it's massive compared to my local library's sale) that I love to go to every year. But even better, my grandmother is a friend of her library so she goes and sorts all the books that come in for the sale year round and she invites me to help her and as payment, I get to pick out any books I want for free.
I am so happy to see that you have joined us Goodreadsers, and welcome to this group as well! Hope you have a marvelous 2019 reading experience.

Yes!!!! I am forever waiting for Brandon Sanderson's next book in his Stormlight Archive. I remember seeing a post of his that he wasn't going to write the next one in that series until the next year but I can't remember if I read that for 2018 or 2019 so I'm not sure if I need to look for it this year or if I have to wait for next year. I'm trying to appease myself by reading his other books, like the Mistborn books or the Reckoner series (I own four out of the six for Mistborn and all three Reckoners but I am doing my own version of the TBR jar challenge and I have yet to pull any of those books out of my jar T_T I don't know why I torture myself this way).

And how about you?? Any books or authors you are excited about this year?

This year my goal is to read 30 books. I'm glad I stumbled across this group as it seems like a very nice community!
