I think this is finally the year I read Serena by Ron Rash. I usually love Marissa Meyer but I'm not super enthusiastic about Archenemies, so I don't know. Ron Rash is looking pretty good.

Denise | 374 comments I MIGHT read The Line Painter by Claire Cameron. I discovered her while researching a 2018 prompt, but didn't end up reading her book. She is also Canadian (I'm Canadian, but so many authors that I read are American, so it's a nice break when someone isn't American)

message 18: by Jennifer (last edited Nov 11, 2018 01:06AM) (new)

Jennifer T. (jent998) | 231 comments I have 3 Naomi Novik books on by shelf to read.

But! I love Wendy Webb and she has a brand new book out The Daughters of the Lake that I will save for this challenge. I highly recommend all of her books, I love ❤️ them!!
The End of Temperance Dare by Wendy Webb
Daughters of the Lake by Wendy Webb
The Fate of Mercy Alban by Wendy Webb
The Tale of Halcyon Crane by Wendy Webb
The Vanishing by Wendy Webb

So funny, I've never heard of her but this was my kindle first pick this month so it was the first book I came across in my search. Glad to hear that someone loves her!!

My other thought is See What I Have Done by Sarah Schmidt ( about Lizzy Borden).

I've already exhausted Ransom Riggs and I love Cassandra Clare but I can't restart her series this year, I have too many others I already am throwing around.

message 22: by VanesGirl (new)

VanesGirl | 92 comments Lora Leigh for a little bit steam :-)

message 23: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 190 comments I think I will reading Wires and Nerve by Marissa Meyer. I've been wanting to get to the series for awhile.

message 24: by Shannon (new)

Shannon | 0 comments I think I will go for the second in the Temeraire series Throne of Jade by Naomi Novik.

message 25: by Summer (new)

Summer (paradisecity) I've had Holy Cow by David Duchovny on my TBR for a while, and it's a short one! I think he also wrote a book about baseball, but I've never read it.

message 26: by poshpenny (new)

poshpenny | 1916 comments Chris Colfer's The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell: Book 1 series is very popular. I might try one. Or the next Peregrine. Maybe.

message 27: by Dani (new)

Dani Weyand | 388 comments If you’re keeping up with the series, Philip Pullman’s The Secret Commonwealth is speculated to be released in 2019

message 30: by Rachael (new)

Rachael | 136 comments Personally I am finally going to get round to reading The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ, my brother gave it to me a couple of years ago and I have still not got to it

message 31: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1301 comments I am tempted to go with the Danish author Helle Helle, because that´s beautiful for this, right?

message 33: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Morrison | 145 comments I'm doing 2 year long challenges next year and trying not to overlap, so I won't have too much extra time to read outside of prompts. I really wanted to read Miss Ex-Yugoslavia: A Memoir and luckily it fits here as the author is Sofija Stefanovic

message 34: by Kenya (new)

Kenya Starflight | 985 comments Going with Radix by A.A. Attanasio

message 35: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (carrie512) | 0 comments I'll be reading Next Year in Havana for this one. I'm glad I was able to find a prompt for this one (written by Chanel Cleeton) because I've heard such great things about it.

Oh yeah! This has been high on my list since I first heard about it. Washington Black is another one I really want to get to so I am now no longer dreading this prompt!

message 39: by Christie (new)

Christie (christie177) | 1 comments Brene Brown is also an option if you want non-fiction for a read.

message 40: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid Kim | 19 comments I recently discovered author Pierre Pevel who writes "historical fantasy" (Les lames du Cardinal are summarized by the author himself as "Cloak-and-dagger but with dragons and Cardinal Richelieu"). I really enjoyed The Cardinal's Blades even if I don't usually read fantasy. It is very well-done, credible, and the fantasy is integrated in a very realistic fashion into the historical background. I plan on reading another series of his (Wielstadt) that can fit two other prompts and for once, I see on Goodreads that the Cardinal blades series has been translated in English if you guys are curious! Greetings from France :-)

message 41: by Juliebean (new)

Juliebean (juliebean512) | 145 comments I haven't seen anyone mention Aziz Ansari. I know he was on the Goodreads Choice list one year.

Lois Lowry
Mark Manson (non-fiction)

message 48: by Paju (new)

Paju (sadattelen) | 2 comments Call Me By Your Name by André Aciman is my choice! I was going to start reading it soon anyway!

message 49: by Erin (new)

Erin (maclanoodle) | 30 comments André Aciman's books are all FANTASTIC, and Call Me By Your Name is one of the books that had the biggest influence on me as I was struggling to figure myself out as a teenager.

BUT since I'm trying not to do re-reads, I'm going to do La Belle Sauvage because I never got around to it when it first came out, and His Dark Materials is one of my favorite trilogies of all time!

Ohhh you just reminded me that I bought Daughter of the Lake awhile back. That'll be my task choice.
