Review:
I chose this book strictly because it met my requirements:
1. audiobook I could borrow
2. had a bird on the cover
3. fit this challenge
I don't think I would have ever selected this book otherwise. I listened to book 1 in this series and then this one, book 6. This isn't standalone series, but it was okay that I didn't read books 2-5. I don't think I would have enjoyed reading this book. I think I would have rolled my eyes as opposed to laughing at the over the top moments, which are many. However, I really don't like the narrator of this series. I suspect I would have enjoyed the book a lot more with a different narrator. I recently listened to 3 books in this author's Alien Abduction series, which is a fairly similar type of book and I did like it which I am crediting to the difference in narrators. This book was pretty funny at some points, but my overall annoyance with the narrator kind of wrecked it for me.

😂 at your veiled disgust. I have found this author’s work to be thin on plot & character development and high on sex scenes. The humor is mostly lost on me as well.

Review: Book 7. Can't believe that I actually made it this far into the book. I love how they are not just fighting each other at the moment, but how instead of trying to kill each other they have other distractions. I hate how Lysaer is the leader of a group who wants to kill him. I hope that all works out in the end and both brothers fare well. One of the best books that I've read 5 stars.

This was one of my favorite Bridgerton couples. Hyacinth is the youngest Bridgerton, mother Violet was pregnant when Edmund passed away from an allergic reaction to a bee sting.
Gareth St. Clair, on the other hand, always had a contentious relationship with his father. So each character missed a paternal connection. These two connected during Hyacinth's visit to Lady Danbury, Gareth's aunt. Gareth had received a diary from his grandmother but it was written in Italian which he didn't read. Hyacinth revealed that she had rudimentary understanding of the language and that began a meeting to find out what was written in the diary.
It was a nice adventure and I loved that we had another Bridgerton heroine who was confident and outspoken. I also liked Gareth mostly because I felt sorry for him. His father was so brutal as well as relentless with the verbal abuse. It was terrible. This two just found comfort and a friendly ease with each other. It was fun, it was intriguing and it was entertaining. I had to say Lady Danbury is an awesome character. I can't believe I thought she was the author of the Whistledown posts. This old lady lacks subtly and is so outspoken that she would never hid behind a pseudonym.
This book had a great mix of romance, adventure, mystery and humor. I am looking forward to listening to the next one.

I'm so excited! I loved this book. For me, it's the perfect mix of love, sex, war, intrigue. There is so much going on. Seas of blood, Angels falling from the skies, Vampires dying from diseased tainted blood. Raphael's power is changing and we're not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing. Lijuan makes her attempt to capture the city bringing her legion of zombies. I thought Elena was becoming better at navigating the angel politics and realizing she has power as the Archangel's Consort. I love the little side story touches. It lets you know that there are sill other life events that go on. Dealing with Eve and Jeffrey, Vivek getting another chance, financial investing with a free vamp, little Izak worming his way to becoming part of Elena's guard.
I'm a little bummed the next books veers away from Elena & Raphael again, but I love this world and so excited to keep reading. :-D

Review: This story is similar to the first two of the series; slightly silly, a little bit serious, and a lot of fun. It is jarring when the reader is pulled out of the past and into the present a few times during the book. I'm glad the author stopped doing that in the next books.

I've really enjoyed this series, and this last installment may be my favorite. MC Geordie learns to love again after the death of his long time partner. Great characters. My one dislike in this story is the author's use of the super villain...seriously, too many books I've read by this author feature some wildly awful character (I've stopped reading books in which the main plot point is "THE WORLD'S WORST PARENT) Fortunately, the world's worst friend (friend of the deceased partner) didn't show up until about the 85% point, only had a few paragraphs and Geordie didn't let it wreck his life.

This book was so disappointing. It looked like it would be good since books 1& 2 were really good but this one fell super flat.
Sophie was a Committee operative tasked with taking out insane billionaire business man Archer but she fell in love him instead and refused to kill. Archer repairs her devotion by marrying her first and then having his henchmen shot her in the back causing paralysis in Sophia lower extremities.
The Committee abandoned Sophia for her betrayal and for the next two years, Sophie was abused by Archer because of His hatred for the Committee and also for disabled people.
Sophia’s resolved to get revenge and slowly she got feeling back into her legs and learned to walk in secret.
Now, the Committee sent Malcolm to complete the assignment that Sophia didn’t but they neglected to tell Malcolm that Sophia was paralyzed. The woman in the wheelchair Malcolm met doesn’t mesh with the person that the Committee described. So of course Malcolm, who initially loathed Sophia, began developing feelings for the operative was going to dispose of at the end of his assignment (she was a loose end). This began the push and pull of their attraction.
I never really grasped the hatred Archer had for Sophia. I also didn’t respect the Committee for how they treated their own. Malcolm was a jerk but I guess I understand that he viewed Sophie as a traitor.
The audiobook was boring and their connection didn’t quite feel passionate enough to me. I wanted more of an emotional bond and I certainly wanted Malcolm to have to win Sophia at the end which he didn’t even try. I didn’t like him not even trying

Lexi is finally getting married. When at the dress shop trying on her custom dress she runs into her high school nemesis, who’s custom dress is pretty similar. They preceded to get in a vicious cat fight. Later on, Veronica, the bride, and Philippe, the dress maker, are found dead and Lexi is suspect number one. Unfortunately for her, her sexy detective fiancé is taken off the case and the gum snapping rookie is put in charge.
This is a fun, cute little read to fill in the time. Lexi’s grandmother and her senior gang provide humor and we get our happy wedding.

I've read several books in this series and they all seem to have the same general plot line. It gets old after a while which is why I quit it after book #8 (I loathed Keely, I loathed Jack, I loathed Keely and Jack) But this book, for some reason, I just really like. I've re-read it a bunch of times. The sex is hot and the characters are not perfect people which I like. This has become a sort of comfort read for me.
