Geordie de la Rosa is a legend among wine lovers in Napa Valley. His ultra-fabulous style paired with a penchant for leading impromptu sing-a-longs has made him a star attraction at Conrad Winery. Co-owning a well-respected winery was never Geordie’s aspiration but he likes the niche he’s made for himself. He won’t deny that his job and his friends have helped ease his heartache and grief after the death of his longtime partner.

Levi Yeager excels at the art of reinventing himself. He’s been a minor league baseball player, a college coach and now a restaurant owner. The problem is he doesn’t know anything about the food business. And when his chef quits unexpectedly, he’s afraid his new venture is doomed. But Levi isn’t a quitter. It may be the only thing he has in common with the beautiful, sassy man from the neighboring winery who agrees to help get his new business up and running. Neither man counts on their fast friendship or the wild attraction they feel for each other. However, they know they won’t stand a chance until they let go of the past and lean into forever.

I've been yearning for Geordie's story for so long, I was certain disappointment was lurking on the horizon. Geordie needed someone special, someone who loved him just as he was—show tunes, diva antics, and all.

But I doubted anyone would be good enough for the Geordie I fell in love with in book 3 (Nick and Wes's story). For nearly four years, Geordie has been grieving the death of his other half. Mike was seventeen years older than Geordie and was Geordie's best friend, his partner, his love. Mike built Geordie a castle and made him queen of the grapes. Geordie can't move on. He talks to Mike and wears all black, and every day he exists in sorrow.

Then one day Geordie meets the man who's opening a new Mexican-American fusion restaurant around the corner from the winery Geordie runs with Wes.

Levi, with his easy smile and flirty ways, is a former minor league baseball player. He wears flannel shirts, concert tees, and worn jeans. Not that Geordie pays attention. Geordie doesn't notice anything about Levi, which is to say, he notices everything.

I swear to god I was a fucking mess while reading this book, which is at once poignant, romantic, and heartbreaking. It is ALL. THE. THINGS.

It's banter and a pink Vespa. It's frantic coupling and tender kisses. It's a man who sees you, really sees you, sees your flamboyant self, your broken heart, and will make a grand entrance just to hear you laugh.

Levi is amazing. He doesn't try to tame Geordie's theatrical side. He's patient, and he listens. He's been in the closet and doesn't want to go back. Levi wants Geordie madly but knows he can't compete with a dead man.

"I'm a mess."

"You're beautiful," he countered. Something in his tone stopped me ...

"This is beautiful? Oh Levi, you can do so much better than this."

"I don't want better. I want you."

This is not a fast-paced story, but it's perfect. The relationship develops slowly, naturally. The men talk about their fears. And they talk about fonts. They talk about movies and wine and the DMV. Levi has Geordie's number, even if Geordie won't acknowledge he's worthy.

Levi's ex shows up. But Geordie is a cool customer. He wears thigh high boots and kneels over a bench. And Levi fucks him six ways from Sunday.

Yeah, Geordie isn't jealous. AT ALL.

I smiled. I cried a little. I raged (mostly at Marshall, whom I wanted to stab with a butter knife). And I cheered like a madwoman. Because Geordie deserved another HEA.

It's not greedy to love again. Moving on doesn't mean forgetting the past. It means embracing your future and riding off into the sunset with the man you love on a scooter the color of Rosso Passione.

"I'll wait forever if I have to. You're it for me. My sun, my moon ... you're mine .... "

I have been waiting for Geordie to get his happily ever after since we met him. Geordie has been mourning his husband Mike and still talks to him- still hears him. Geordie who was once full of color now exists in the dark.

In enters Levi, the new diner owner. Everyone agrees that Levi is hot - even Geordie. Grudgingly. The two are opposites. Geordie is all show tunes and glamour, and Levi is sports, jeans, and t-shirts. After they are pushed to work on a project together the two can't help but- well, you'll see. ;)

Some highlights

-RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENT! This aspect of writing is Hayes', and it was no different here. Perfect timing, nothing is rushed, and the way things unfold was perfection.

-Opposites attract, I touched on this earlier. As different as they were, they were each other's perfect match.

-I am a banter whore and this ticked off that box!

-Hurt/Comfort/Healing. The gradual change in Geordie felt like very much like watching a flower bloom. I know it sounds corny as fuck- but it's true. That's the best way I can describe it.

-Sexy times: it's Lane Hayes. 'Nuff said.

-And the end was terrific. ♥

Leaning Into Forever by Lane Hayes is going down as one of my all-time favorites. One moment I was smiling, crying the next, and swooning a page later. I love when stories can evoke so many emotions. If you're looking for a book to get lost into look no further; Leaning Into Forever is a beautiful book about loss, heartbreak, healing, and new beginnings.

5+ Stars.

Meh. I didn't like Geordie in Wes and Nick's book and I didn't like him now either. Too much of a high maintenance drama queen, even for me. He also kept bouncing from "I'm too broken to love again" to "I want to live again" in the blink of an eye.

On a side note, Kevin's reasoning for leaving Levi in the first place was so utterly ridiculous.

Meh.

I almost thought Geordie was going to be too much for me.

He *was* a bit much. A bit dramatic. A bit OTT.

I was also worried about how “present” Mike was.

And Geordie’s inner monologue was a bit repetitive.

But I loved Levi. And this one as a whole. But ultimately rounding down instead of up. Overall a great addition to the series!

From the moment he sashayed his way onto the page in the Leaning Into series, with his air of vulnerability and his dynamic personality and belting out showtunes, I've wanted Geordie's story.

And now Lane has delivered me Geordie's romance in all his unique glory, wrapped up in a most beautiful narrative which is so full of humour and hurt, grief and joy, passion and fear that it required two tissues to get through to the end!

I must admit, it can be daunting going into a book you've been waiting for, knowing that you need to find out if a beloved character is okay. But there was nothing to be worried about here because Levi is utterly perfect for Geordie.

So different from his lost love Mike, but with the same strength to recognise the hurt hiding behind the exuberant exterior Geordie presents to the world. Just as Mike wanted to take care of his younger lover, so too does Levi, although he himself is now the younger one.

He made me laugh so much as he brought Geordie out of his self-inflicted bubble of grief and loneliness with a pink Vespa and a mutual bonding over bad fonts.

It takes a while, but the steadfast assurances of the new restaurant owner, and his unwavering ability to just "be there" eventually wins the day. But not before I'd had a bit of a tear up when Geordie says his au revoir to Mike.

I have loved this series so much. Nick and Wes remain my favourite pair, but Birdie and his Levi are a very close second.

Aww man, have I picked a favorite book of this series yet? Maybe even the year?

Can I change my mind?

I am so head over heels in love with this book. I know I love the series and I know I love the author but I didn’t think I needed or wanted this book really.

Gah.

I totally did. So much I think I actually need to read it again.

I don’t know why I ever thought I didn’t want Geordie’s story. He is such an influential part of this series. Shame on me for putting him in a corner.

I think I did it out of fear. True loves and all that jazz.

Ghosts.

I didn’t think he wanted to live and love. Silly me. Geordie is full of life and yeah, he needed a new story. He needed to live. And love.

This book blew me away. When I heard we were getting this story I figured I knew what it would be.

I was wrong.

This was more, better and such a beautiful surprise I just can’t even.

So yeah, I’m changing my mind and calling this my favorite book of the series. Sorry Nick, Geordie totally stole your spot. Back when I read your book I didn’t think you needed a story either or that I would love you. Look at me getting it all wrong again.

I can’t write this review without at least mentioning Levi. Geordie seriously steals the spotlight, yeah? Anyway. Levi. Sigh. Look at you and man, where did you even come from? Levi is an amazing character with amazing character. His strength. OMG. I don’t even really know what to say about this amazing man except that, he is an amazing man.

I loved this freaking book. LOVED IT.

Unabashedly romantic and full of feeling, without being trite. I really liked this.

When we first met Geordie, in Bk.3, he's still reeling from his partner Mike's death. In the subsequent books we've gotten to know and spend a little time with Geordie: show tunes belting glamour queen and also a Mexican kid from L.A. who had to flee and reinvent himself after his family's rejection. Geordie is now in his 40's and, though he doesn't know it, perhaps ready to love again. His second chance at love comes in the person of Levi, former baseball player and all around masc guy who nonetheless thinks nothing of riding around in a pink Vespa, and is more than awe struck by Geordie's fabulousness.

Perhaps Levi is a dream made to order, endlessly patient, and accepting, but sometimes (hush cynics!!!) life gives us what we need, particularly when we're not looking.

This is a satisfying ending to a great series and as usual Nick J. Russo knocked it out of the park.

I. Loved. This. Book.

I have been waiting for it to come out for as long as I can remember. Geordie is someone who leaves a mark on your soul and that's exactly what he did after I finished reading Leaning into Forever.

There's not one thing I hate or would change about this.

Levi is perfect for Geord. If there's a soulmate out there for someone, this is the perfect example to show for it. Levi was the kind, patient, amazing and works amazingly with Goerdie's sassy personality.

"I'll wait forever if I have to. You're it for me. My sun, my moon..."

There was plenty of humor, sarcasm, banter but still included some moments you just wanted to curl up in the corner and cry. I just wanted to give Geordie a hug. THIS BOOK GAVE ME ALL THE EMOTIONS.

Is it bad that I want more now? I wouldn't mind getting a short story if I'm being honest. Lane has made me a huge fan of hers after this book. I can't wait for more books!

I enjoyed this a lot. I was so excited to read Geordie's story and him getting through his grief over Mike's death and find love and being happy again.

It was a journey through this whole book, but it was a good one - seeing Georgie going through being attracted to Levi but being reluctant to even acknowledge it, to making himself think of it as just sex, to him finally realizing it was more with Levi and getting to a place where he could let go of Mike. Not forget him, but let go and live his life, because he's only 43 and there's still much more life for him to live.

I love that neither Mike's memory or Levi were pushed aside by Geordie for the other in this. At first Geordie made it clear that he couldn't be what Levi wanted, because he would only ever love Mike, so he never strung Levi along for a second, but then as his feelings for Levi grew and he fell in love with him, he realized that it was possible to fall in love twice, in different ways but no less important or more important than the other, and that it was okay for him to be happy and move on.

I felt for Geordie so much throughout this. He still loves Mike and always will, but he starts out this book, three and a half years after Mike's death, sill mourning him, still wearing black all the time, still talking to Mike in his head, still celibate - still just for Mike. I think grief has a way of enveloping you in its grasp and not wanting to let go, and it makes it hard to live for yourself, to be happy again, to live your life instead of just coasting through.

But Geordie learns to do that again with Levi, and he learns to be happy again, and Levi was sweet and kind and hilarious. He kept up with Geordie like no one else - except Mike - could and he was just who Geordie needed to start living again, to be happy again.

I also love how Levi was a "stereotypical" jock-type of a guy who was in the closet for years and was only recently out of the closet and he was masculine in contrast to Geordie's effeminate nature but Levi never once judged Geordie or looked down on him, not ever. Levi's struggles were only with accepting himself. He adored Geordie from the beginning and I loved that, and I loved how Geordie gave him the final push into accepting himself too.

Geordie loves to tell it like it is and Levi need that too. Geordie did as much for Levi as Levi did for Geordie.

They had great chemistry and their interactions were gold, and the sex was hottt ;)

My only real niggle is that the big climax didn't feel very big, and the drama wasn't...much. It set it up like it would be but then it was resolved quickly. While I'm always one for less manufactured drama, I feel like Geordie had a real reason to be scared and cautious, but he figured it a little too quickly, I think. I guess I mean that the conflict happened quickly and then was resolved quickly, so it didn't feel like...enough? Most of the time i feel like drama is manufactured and used just for the sake of drama, but I think in this instance there could have been more. Whew, look at me wanting MORE drama? I hate tons of drama lol. But I think more drama could have happened without it being over the top or melodramatic or unnecessary.

I think more angst happened with the other couples in this series and i think Geordie and Levi had the most legitimate reason for there to be angst haha.

Not that there wasn't - it took Geordie a long time to get to a good place to be with Levi with commitment and everything, but the climax just...fell a little short for me, I dunno.

This was still absolutely wonderful though and I enjoyed these two so much together. I was so happy to see Geordie finally getting his second chance at love <3

Oh my, that was wonderful! A new favorite.

I haven’t read all the books in this series, so I didn’t really remember Geordie before reading this book. However, I fell in love with him in the first chapter, and now, his character is one of my most favorite characters ever.

1DCA5FA1-6470-418B-B746-141DB7F66F2C.gif

Geordie is a wealthy co-owner of a successful winery, and he lost his lover, Mike, almost 4 years ago. Mike was Geordie’s Prince Charming, and he was Mike’s queen. They had the epic kind of love, and that’s why Geordie can’t really move on. He continues to wear black clothes that show his grief, and is constantly speaking to Mike’s “ghost”. But that doesn’t mean that he’s depressed all the time, not at all. Geordie is literally the life of the party, he brings joy and laughter to everywhere he goes. He’s happy and positive, even though he’s still broken inside.

But then a new man moves to Geordie’s town, and everything changes. Let’s talk about Levi.

4B94FB60-013A-41F8-B5D3-C895DF950F35.gif

Yep, the man is swoon worthy. He is patient, funny, hot and caring. He’s nearly perfect, and the way he treates Geordie is so precious and endearing. You simply can't find a man like that every day, and Geordie agrees with me, even if he resisted Levi’s charming-self at first.

So Levi is opening a new dinner in town, and could really use some help. His former lover was supposed to help him out, but he ditched him at the last minute. That’s why he reaches out to Geordie’s winery for assistance. At the beginning, Geordie isn’t that enthusiastic about the idea, but pretty quickly Levi wins him over with his flirty comments, charm and kindness. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s pretty damn hot, as I already mentioned.

When these two get together it’s explosive. Their chemistry is amazing, but it’s so much more than physical attraction. They bond over the dinner, fonts and one pink Vespa, and it’s so so romantic and emotional.

However, Geordie can’t let go of his former lover, and even though Levi is patient, he can’t fight a ghost forever. So it’s up Geordie to realize that it’s okay to love again, and find new happiness. When he finally makes up his mind, it’s heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time, his goodbye chat with “Mike” brought tears to my eyes.

Overall, this is a beautiful, a little sad, but mostly romantic story about a man learning to love again, and I loved it to pieces. Highly recommended ❤️

I’m sure anyone who’s read Leaning Into the Fall, book 3 in the series, has been waiting anxiously for Geordie’s story. He’s appeared in nearly every story since then, the diva belting out show tunes for sing-alongs, a fabulous, dramatic queen in mourning finery. I love his character, vulnerable emotionally yet confident and secure in who he is. He’s also certain that he’s already had his one chance with love. Until Levi comes along to challenge that assumption. Thrown into proximity when Levi wants to open a restaurant, he proves more than a match for Geordie’s wit and snark. I will never look at fonts or Vespas in quite the same way!

There is an Aubrey Hepburn movie influence in the narrative that fits wonderfully with Geordie’s character. The dynamics between Levi and Geordie are everything, humorous and fun, a joy to read. Levi is kind, patient, understanding and Geordie doesn’t make him compete with a ghost. He’s willing to start living fully again one step at a time but doesn’t dare look too far ahead, clinging to a state of denial for too long. It’s not a one-sided relationship though since Levi is on his own journey to fully embracing who he is as a gay man and Geordie makes a great guide. Levi’s amenable yet pragmatic personality is a perfect foil for Geordie’s more whimsical temperament.

There are no trite plot devices using the deceased lover to generate conflict and I loved that change of pace. The characters are so well balanced and have become my favorite couple of the entire series. I’d really encourage reading at least book 3 before this one but it stands alone quite well. Of course the rest of the couples appear along the way and you won’t want to miss those romances!

Loved the book, didn't particularly like Mr Russo's interpretation of it. He did seem to change his original take on Geordie as done in Leaning Into the Fall, and for that, I was grateful but this one just, I don't know, didn't work for me. Let's assume it's a 'me not everyone else' issue as I usually like Nick's narrations.

Five stars for the story, 3 stars for the narration so 4 stars overall.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 from me. Absolutely fabulous darling!! My favourite of the series, I so wanted glorious Geordie to sashay towards his own HEA, and Levi helped to deliver that in spades in this opposites attract story.

Have to admit it wasn't all plain sailing [notice the reference to Eric and Zane there 😉], mostly cos Jorge de la Rosa was fighting himself and happy memories of a life shared with Mike, before Mike's untimely death 4 years previously. Geordie had more or less turned himself into a monk ...a very sad and despondent monk it has to be said, and thank goodness for the winery and all his friends there, keeping their eyes on him and tuning in to his moods. He didn't believe that it was possible [or fair to be honest] that he should be able to fall in love again, but yay!! Hallelujah praise the Lord it happened!! 😍😍 Despite nasty reminders of Geordie's past [thanks Marshall 😡] and ex boyfriends who couldn't make their mind up [Kevin, take a bow], Levi knew his own mind, knew with certainty that he was already in love with the flirtatious ex queen, and decided he would wait for Geordie no matter how long it might take for Geordie to get with the programme.

The scene in the DMC...fantastic!! Laughed my head off, and if ever there was a need for parts of a book to be on video, that would be it!! Well done Lane...a truly fitting ending for the series and a great romance for Geordie.

I have to work in twenty minutes, so I’ll keep this short (fat chance).

I adored this. Utterly loved everything about Geordie and Levi. I don’t think I can put into words what I’m feeling.

This was the first book to make me shed tears in two years. And I don’t hand out five stars lightly.

My heart hurts in a good way. I can’t let go of this beautiful story. I’m a sucker for a widow finding love and coming to terms that he’s still alive and deserves to live. This gave me everything I wanted. It made me swoon, it made me laugh, it made me cry. I went through all five stages of grief.

This is a hopeful little gem. And it definitely works as a standalone. Maybe read book 3 first, because some background information may be good. But I wasn’t confused.

Geordie is probably my favourite literary character of this year. He was fragile, fabulous and was such a strong person it makes me heart sing. He’s a walking mood ring, you see: he’s been in mourning for four years since his husband died. He’s only been wearing black clothes and singing Barbra Streisand songs.

When Levi enters his life, he decorated himself in colour. Our Geordie bird turns into the peacock he is and gets his happily ever after. And I couldn’t be prouder of him.

Please read this. I beg of you. You will not regret it.

I was both hesitant and excited about Geordie's story.
Stories that feature an MC who lost their love make me sad because it rarely feels like the new person is getting a wholehearted kind of love.
Of course, I wanted Geordie to get his HEA, but I wasn't sure he would be able to open himself up for it. It has been nearly four years and Geordie still can't see a way forward into a future where Mike isn't a part of his everyday life. Mike is still so...there. It was this that made me think I would end up wanting someone else for Levi.
I fell in love with Levi so fast. Levi is sweet, loving, generous, sexy and patient. His quick smiles, easy flirting and non-demanding nature go a long way to easing Geordie out of his cloud of grief. Levi's way is so perfect that even Geordie doesn't realize what is happening at first.
Geordie is the same over the top, vocal, fabulous Geordie he ever was. Some of it is a cover to hide his sadness, but mostly that is just who Geordie is. Levi embraces everything about Geordie, even Mike, and loves Geordie wholely.
I loved it! Loved Geordie and Levi. I loved Wes and Ryan. Other than the stabby feelings that Marshall induced (why was he even invited? No douchebag on that level should have been allowed to stay in Geordie's life regardless of his connection to Mike), the book was nearly perfect and my favorite of the series.

This book is simply too precious. It totally soothe my soul especially at this point of time when the world around us is on hell's fire. I love every single moment from the beginning till the end. I'm guilty to admit that I'm not a devoted follower of the series and I don't remember Geordie much, so I kinda went into this blind and treat it as a standalone. But what a remarkable and absolutely joyful read.

Geordie is a still living up to his diva lifestyle despite nearing middle age. He's 43 and showing me how to be young at heart. Geordie is fabulous, quirky, a goofball and the life of all parties. He can also be melodramatic and a total hot mess. Bottom line is Geordie is a rare unicorn that I need to protect at all cost. However, behind his bravado hid an empty soul that is still mourning for his dead lover.

Levi is the new restaurateur in town that don't know much about setting up a restaurant, which led him to seek out help from Geordie and his partner, Wes. Levi is an ex-jock who can pass for a straight man, a total opposite from Geordie. Levi is the kind of understated hero that is just so chill no matter what happened. He's a total sweetheart. He's so kind and patient and funny and sexy. He's just perfect.

What I love most about this story is the comedy aspect of it. Geordie is very comical and provide much laugh out loud moment. Most of the time, I feel like I'm in Levi's shoe, unable to come up with a response to Geordie's antics. Levi is definitely the more relatable one here. In the midst of all the humor in the book, there is also the emotional aspect of it which came from Geordie's way of dealing with grief. I remember there was one scene in the beginning when Geordie reached home, which make me burst into tears. Even though I never read about his dead lover before, I can really feel the lost along with him. Anyway, this is not a pity party and I don't feel that the dead lover overshadowed the romance here, absolutely not. In fact, with everything Geordie went through, it makes his new budding relationship with Levi much more meaningful. They have so much fun together with Levi reminding Geordie how to live his life to the fullest again. I'm just so happy for Geordie in getting his own second chance at love.

This is the 2nd 5 star book I read over this weekend. This book was beautiful and poignant and just a gem of a romance.
Geordie a man who deserves to live happily ever after finally gets his due. I can't tell you how happy I was to read Geordie's story. If there is anyone who deserves love it's someone who's had it and lost it. Geordie is a man who knows how to grieve. He's been doing it every hour of everyday for four years. He needs light someone to show him it's ok to love again, someone who loves everything about him just the way he is. Enter Levi. Levi who can't get enough of Geordie. Levi who let's Levi be him and who loves him for it. Levi who has patience and understanding and most of all a lot of heart. This has been an excellent series but this book took the cake. This is one of the most romantic love stories I've read and beautifully executed. Another extraordinary read.

4.5 stars- Love after loss feels especially bright

Oh, Geordie. I knew this story would wreck me a little and it did, but in a wonderfully healing and fulfilling way. The seventh book in the Leaning Into Stories collection, Leaning Into Forever can be read as a standalone without losing any of the emotional intensity or connection to the characters. Certainly if you’re a fan of stories that deal in love after loss and the vulnerability a new relationship entails, this is a title you shouldn’t pass by.

Even though I’ve been a fan of this author for a while now, I’m always struck by her smooth, almost lyrical writing style which never fails to draw me in. As with the other couples in the Leaning Into series, I fell hard for Geordie and Levi. While I knew and loved Geordie based on his cameos as a secondary character in the previous books, I was pleased to discover more facets of his personality and get his full story. I also adored Levi and thought he complimented Geordie well. With how much build-up there was to Geordie’s story and given Leaning Into Forever is told entirely from Geordie’s point-of-view, I was really happy Levi’s character depth and growth wasn’t overshadowed. Instead, I felt like I got to know both men well in this touching romance. Chock full of lines begging to be highlighted and swooned over, Levi and Geordie were a sweet and fun match. Miss Hayes does a fantastic job capturing this couple’s connection by including those moments- be it through dialogue, actions, or looks- that solidify their chemistry and inevitably deepens the relationship. I especially loved how well Levi read Geordie and all his little nuances, making the romance come alive a bit more.

Leaning Into Forever definitely made me feel. Going in, I suspected a lot of tears and sadness, at least at the start. While there were certainly moments that broke my heart a little and had me dabbing my eyes because the emotion and Geordie’s grief was so palpable, this wasn’t a sad story. Rather, Leaning Into Forever had an uplifting, life-affirming quality to it that touched me and certainly left a mark.

Leaning Into Forever takes commitment and love

Everyone has to face loss of someone that they love. Yet it is very important to not stay trapped in the loss when you can find another lover if you are willing to search and take chances. They are out there, but you have to be able to control your emotions and reactions to allow both to build the good things into a forever partnership.

Having supportive friends and family can make it possible. Overcoming the loss is never easy, but gaining a new partner can help the tragedy and loss be bearable.

Finally! Geordie's story. I knew this would be a tough one, and I did wonder who could possibly fill Mike's shoes, earn a place in Geordie's life, help mend his broken heart. Geordie, always the scene-stealer, made me smile, laugh, and cry from the beginning. And then I met Levi, who made me weak in the knees. Charming, sexy, sweet, and patient (one needs to be patient with our Geordie), he won me over immediately. Together they were fun, sexy, and playful. They were also honest, real, insightful, and above all else, friends. I loved Geordie and Levi together, loved their journey to Happily Ever After. A second chance at love and happiness for Geordie, and a first chance at real love for Levi, this book was everything I wanted and more.

Leaning into Forever is book 7 in the Leaning into Series and while it could technically be read as a standalone, I wouldn't really suggest it. We met the fabulousness that is Geordie in book 2 and then again in several of the other books of the series, so I suggest reading them all if you haven't yet.

I knew going in that this was going to be an emotional read for me, I loved Geordie from the moment I met him and especially so once I learned of his backstory. Reading how deep was his grief after losing his lover, Mike, was heartbreaking. His pain was so raw and poignant, despite him turning up his flamboyance to try to hide it from others that I just wanted to make it better and see him thrive. I adored Levi from the first moment, he was so swoon-worthy and perfect for Geordie. He was patient and understanding and supportive. Really, the man deserved a medal, LOL. And I just adored him and Geordie together, the progression of their relationship was so natural and organic that when Geordie came to realize what was happening, he was deep into it. Their chemistry was scorching and despite being opposites in several senses, they complemented each other.

I loved seeing Wes and Nick and Ryan and Dan and have them being such an integral part of the story, especially Wes and Ryan, who were both so amazing with Geordie. And it was lovely catching up with the rest of the guys, even briefly as it was.

I absolutely despised Marshall, and while I didn't hate Kevin, Levi's ex, I wasn't all that happy with him after the last time he spoke to Geordie.

Overall, this book was an emotional rollercoaster for me. I was a blubbering mess during several parts of it, thankful that my kindle read it to me (text-to-speech) because I couldn't really read through my tears. It's definitely my favorite in the series, though, so even if Ms. Hayes made me cry, and I'll probably have a massive book hangover, I have no trouble recommending it. It's a compelling, captivating read and one that I will surely read again several times in the future.

The best of one of my favorite series, by far, this one features our favorite queen, the Broadway tunes-singing Geordie, co-owner of Conrad Winery. Geordie appealed to me since we readers first met him, long before this story, but I totally fell head-over-heels in love with him here. And the man the author picked to love him back? Levi Yeager couldn’t be more perfect for him.

As the blurb states: “Geordie de la Rosa is a legend among wine lovers in Napa Valley. His ultra-fabulous style paired with a penchant for leading impromptu sing-a-longs has made him a star attraction at Conrad Winery.” Four years after the death of his life partner, Mike, the man who originally founded the winery with Wes Conrad, Geordie still spends time in Mike’s secret garden, talking to him and mourning his loss. He can’t contemplate ever moving forward and is content with his life as it is.

So when Wes asks him to take on a special project—consulting with the new owner of the vacant restaurant not far from the winery—he’s hard-pressed to refuse but isn’t terribly excited, especially when he learns the man is a former pro-baseball player. Ho hum. Even when he meets the gorgeous owner, Levi Yeager, and is surprised by his sudden desire for the man, he hesitates. But over time, Levi shows him a new side of himself and he accepts Geordie exactly as he is—show tunes and all—and it’s been four years since Geordie had that level of acceptance in his life.

I won’t go into multiple details here but there’s so much about this story to love. There’s humor, much of it centered around Geordie’s OTT excitement about the pink Vespa Levi is driving. Yes, it’s his sister’s vehicle, but the fabulous Geordie grabs the pink helmet and enjoys every moment hanging onto Levi as they get around. There’s also plenty of humor between the men over their taste in music and Geordie’s sense of style, but under it all is Levi’s strong and steady wholehearted acceptance of the importance of Mike in Geordie’s life.

I appreciated the fact that the author allowed the relationship to develop slowly. Slow burn is one of my favorite themes, as is older men, and Geordie finally admits he’s forty-three to Levi’s thirty-seven. Call me in heaven. I love these two together. Their dynamic was smooth and easy, and even when Levi’s ex came to town and when Geordie struggled with the J word and eventually had to admit he had feelings for Levi, the scenes were beautifully done. And lest I forget, yes there are sex scenes and they do indeed sizzle, but they are not overdone. I’m coming to a new appreciation for authors who know when to stop and don’t put extra gratuitous sex scenes in a book just to titillate.

The story is solid and Ms. Hayes had the perfect mix of emotions in this one. Geordie’s final words to Mike were both heartbreaking and heartwarming and had a small touch of humor. Just perfect! There’s definitely a HEA in this story and a chance for another story if Levi’s ex gets an opportunity to settle in the area, but if this is the end of the series, that’s fine. Leaning Into Forever was the best of the best. Very highly recommended.

First I'd like to start off saying that I have not read any other books in this series and Lane Hayes is a new to me author, now that I have that out of the way I will say that this book can be read as a standalone and I didn't feel as if I was missing anything but I am sure for those that have read the series and knew Geordie and Mike when they were together before his passing this story will pull at their heartstrings much more. I did shed tears believe me, I went through quite a few tissues but I am sure if I knew Mike when he was alive and was now watching Geordie make the steps to move on it would have been much more emotional. I had the pleasure of listening to this audiobook and I have to say that the narrator Nick J Russo did a wonderful job with the story. His voice inflections were great and I could really get a better feel for each of the characters because of it.

Levi, can I just say this man stole my heart right from the start. He knew that Geordie lost Mike almost four years earlier and he was so sweet with him, he gave him the space he needed to work through things but made it known that he wanted him in no uncertain terms. Geordie had a lot of guilt in his desires towards Levi but I'm sure everyone goes through that after they've lost a partner they had been with for so long. I loved the over-the-top flamboyant Barbara loving Geordie, he was Mike's Queen but I am so glad he was going to give Levi a chance.

This was an emotional read at times so I would advise you to make sure you have tissues handy because you never know when you'll need them. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good LGBTQ read that has the heat factor rather HIGH. Things were very spicy between Levi and Geordie and not always in the kitchen ;) Happy Reading or Listening!!!

Who among us hasn’t been waiting for Geordie’s story? Well, it’s here, and it’s as fabulous as the man himself. We’ve been waiting, those of us reading this series, to see what kind of man Hayes would pair him with. Geordie’s very self-awareness meant that his counterpart would need to be able to stand on his own. He would need to be able to handle his own page time and be a character that had as much depth as the one we have lived with and worried about for several books now. I think Hayes hit it out of the park with Levi.

Geordie needed grounding with a solid character who could take all his uniqueness and not back down from it or ask him to change. He would be the first to tell you that he put the “queer” in being queer. How many men do you know could come through a door into a crowded tasting room in a winery and burst into show tunes? His outfits, his mannerisms, his speech patterns, and his very persona scream a man who isn’t willing to compromise who he is or wants to be for your personal sensibilities. Oh, but underneath the “show” is a vulnerable man who has a backbone of steel, who loves deeply and forever, is fiercely loyal, generous to a fault, and quietly introspective. Only Geordie can sit in a garden having a conversation with his dead lover, complaining about his blue velvet shoes. And his telling Mike about Levi… tissues will be required.

Levi Yeager is reinventing himself. Being able to show the world the man he is on the inside is new for Levi. A product of professional baseball and the sports world, he is finally ready to step out and let the world know that he is gay, and he’s good with that. No, he will never be a stereotypical gay man, but that doesn’t diminish his sexuality. Buying a diner was a crazy idea, and he’s in way over his head, especially when his chef and business partner backs out on him. The bright spot on his horizon is the winery close by and the amazing man he found who owns it and works there. Levi has never met someone quite like Geordie, and he is instantly drawn to the flamboyant man with the shadows in his eyes. Levi becomes Geordie’s anchor, starting with friendship and becoming so much more through laughter and steadfastness.

The banter is pure Lane Hayes. The imagery surrounding the winery and restaurant, even the herb garden, are drawn and described in such detail I feel like I have been there. I also appreciated that Mike was an integral part of this story without taking it over—his presence was a whisper, a touch. Geordie’s grief could have overwhelmed the story and become the focus, but it never does. His grief is treated with respect, but we are met with a man who is finally ready to move forward. Geordie’s memories of Mike didn’t go away, they became incorporated in his new relationship and that was heartwarming to see.

Geordie is in all the books of this series, but I would suggest reading Leaning Into the Fall before this one, as it gives you an introduction to Geordie’s history at the winery while covering important plot points in his storyline. I am a huge fan of Lane Hayes and her deft use of quick wit and turn of phrase. Her books always flow well, and they are a treat to read. Yes, I recommend it. I recommend the whole series! I am so glad Geordie and Levi got their HEA, and thanks, Lane Hayes, for sharing it!

To say I’ve been patiently waiting on Geordie’s story would be a lie. It’s more like I’ve been anxiously waiting on Geordie’s story! Each time he made an appearance in the previous books it left me wanting to know everything about him- his back story, what happened to Mike, would he ever get past his heartbreak. But most of all, I just wanted sweet Geordie to get his happily ever after.

When I thought of Geordie and his hea, there wasn’t a particular type of person I could picture him with, I just knew he was deserving of someone who’d love him with everything he had and could help him through his grief. That is why Ms. Hayes is the writer and not me. Because, oh my word, did she ever create the most ideal person for Geordie in Levi! I don’t think there is anyone else who could have brought Geordie back to life like Levi. I just adored the way he cared about Geordie, and the care he took with him. He didn’t push, he didn’t rush. He let Geordie set the pace for what was building between them.

And what built between them was beautiful and loving and very, very special.
It started out as a fun and snarky friendship, one that was so entertaining! I loved Levi’s teasing nature and Geordie’s unapologetic outrageousness. Ms. Hayes really has a way with words, as the banter between them was written to perfection.
But it soon became clear to both of them, even while Geordie tried to deny it, that there was much more between them than just an easy flirtation. And that’s where this story, and Levi, really shined.

I have loved every single book in this series, and I’ve probably said they are all my favorites, but I have to say this book really struck a chord with me. Geordie kind of stole my heart from the first moment I met him and I was so happy to take this journey with him. Leaning Into Forever is brilliantly crafted, and if you've been a fan of Geordie's, you will not be disappointed.

A Joyfully Jay review.

4.25 stars

Leaning into Forever is the seventh story in Lane Hayes’ Leaning Into series. The series follows two groups that intertwine throughout the stories: a group of college friends and the gang from the winery. Geordie has made appearances in a number of the past books, and it has been clear all along that he is still recovering from Mike’s death. So I was really happy to see his story here and watch him find his own happiness.

Hayes does a nice job showing the almost immediate connection between Levi and Geordie, but also giving time for Geordie to be ready to move forward into a relationship. There is a nice balance here between showing how important Mike was to him, but also not bogging things down too much in the past. Even as he moves forward with Levi, there are times when Geordie still deals with his grief, and it feels realistic. But even with some emotional moments, the focus here is really on what these two men are building and I like that Geordie is able to embrace his connection with Levi as wholly separate from what he had with Mike.
