COMPLETION POST for Week 10, Roll 2, Spot 78

Book: On the Way to the Wedding by Julia Quinn
Pages: 368
Qualification: #8 on the Bridgertons Series
Read: 11/26
Rating & Review: ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Gregory Bridgerton was such a romantic but his vision of how he would fall in love was nothing like what actually occurred. I love that he thought he would just know and it would be smooth sailing but as as all realists now, you gotta work for love.
Like many men, Gregory worked hard only to find out that what he thought he wanted wasn’t at all what he needed.
Lucinda Abernathy was a means to an end for Gregory. After all, her best friend Hermione Watson was the one that Gregory had fallen for. Gregory enlisted Lucinda’s help to land Hermione until he loses Hermione. Gregory learned that he had fallen for the friend instead. Now he just has to convince her that she isn’t a consolation prize.
This one was didn’t feel like a series ending story even though it was entertaining. I loved Hyacinth standing up for her brother. I loved Gregory fighting for love. It was good but not as angst filled as the prior stories.

Review: I have 2 more books to go. I am sad. I love this book and this series. I love Lysaer and Arithon so much. I can't pick a favorite cause I like them about the same. I felt so bad for Arithon when he has to stand by himself against Lysaer. I hate how Lysaer has teamed up with such an evil person and all the hurt it is doing to him. I can't wait to continue the series. Definitely, as usual, 20 out of 10 stars.

The story continues on after the attack on the city. As everyone is rebuilding, structures and lives, a dog and a woman are found dead and seem to be mummified. Similar to Lijuan's victims. This, coupled with a new drug putting vampires into a blood frenzy, means there is a quiet attack still happening.
I love Janvier and Ashwini. Their relationship was already on fire, they just needed to give into it. Ashwini had a good reason to hold back. At first I was rolling my eyes. Oh great, another dark past. But boy, that one's a doozy. We still got a bit of Elena & Raphael, which is great cause they are still my favorite couple. I can't wait to read about Naasir next!

**This is a collection of 2 stories, both will be reviewed.
The Duke is grandfather to the heroines of both stories. He is a matchmaker
In Winning A Lady’s Heart, Alexandra’s father convinced her beau to end the relationship. Alex is heart broken. The Duke brings the couple back together. 4 stars
In the second story, the Duke reunites Olivia with her lost love. He was injured in war and assumed she was better off without him. 4 stars
Both stories were sweet reads and the author did a good job of building the characters in such short stories. I will definitely look for more from this new to me author.

I am reading 3 standalones. Short version:
is on my iphone (audible). While waiting for my youngest at piano, I gave my other son my phone to occupy him and turned to my Kindle fire which I had
by the same author, so I started listening to that one.
For another challenge (Meet-n-Greet), I need to listen to
by 11/30. I hate giving my kids my electronics but sometimes I just need them to be distracted while I get business taken care of.
That's my current reading/listening dilemma. So I will have one of those books as my selection post by tomorrow afternoon

Becca agrees to go to another planet to see her sister and with hopes to find a shapeshifter for herself. Dragon king Vikter hasn't found his mate so now he's dying. When he meets Becca, the passion is on fire, but he keeps pushing her away not wanting her to hurt later. Because of his lost connection to his dragon, he doesn't realize that the big feisty woman he craves is also his mate.
Becca is outgoing, never backing down from a dare. You never know what experience you're missing if you say no. Vikter is mopey, but hey, he's thinks he's missed his chance and is now dying. There was the typical lack of communication. You know the I-wont-say-how-I-feel-unless-you-tell-me-first kind of thing. I didn't like this as much as the last book but it was still a quick, steamy, fun read.

Review: I was afraid I was going to be reading about a 'train wreck' about half way into the story. This country-bred, naive, shy young woman going off to London for the first time with a woman who is scheming and angry. But with the help of a couple of friends, she kept a clear head, and pulled through in the end. It was an okay story. I doubt I'll read it again unless it's for a challenge :)

Review: I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I didn't like how Daniela's story was not told. I didn't know a whole lot about her. I didn't care for Daniela's personality either. She was portrayed as weak insteadof a normal Valkerie. I didn't like Murdoch very much. He seems to not care about any one else or about anything except for sleeping with Daniela. I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars.

Im torn over this audiobook but I couldn’t get over the heroine’s choice of work. I get why she got into it but it was hard to understand how one can have a meaningful relationship and congas she did.
Ryder McNamara was a tv Star with money and fame but after some friends got him to watch a girl online with a private sex room. For some reason Ryder felt an a connection with this girl and soo cultivated a relationship with her.
I don’t want to give away the plot so I won’t say more but both Ryder and Eden were in need of someone to “see” them and really give them room to be themselves despite their shortcomings.
The characters were really likable and such nice people. I just have a knee jerk reaction to sex workers whether online or dancing in a club. I wish I wasn’t so judgmental but it just irks me. If I can remove that part, I liked the story a lot.

Enemies to lovers, co-worker & Christmas time setting. This was a nice fluffy read. Not my favorite in the series, perhaps just a bit too much sex.
After reading that the MC hadn't been home to visit his family in years, I researched the distance from Cincinnati to mid Iowa ... 8.5 hour drive. I was surprised. I didn't expect it to be that far. Still, if he couldn't afford to fly (which honestly for 1 person, if you're looking for a sale isn't all that much money and probably not significantly more that the cost of 1 person driving) a 20 hr trip once a year for a young man doesn't seem insurmountable and this plot line kind of bugged me.

Review: This book wasn't as good as the first two in the series, but it was still a lot of fun. Grandma Dowdel is a force to be reckoned with. It's amazing what she gets away with, and who she pulls into her escapades! I would suggest reading either book 1 or book 2 before trying this story. Those books give a better glimpse of the redoubtable Grandma Dowdel!

This audiobook was a romantic comedy set in the Ton.
Widower Duchess Harriet Berrow is still coming to grip with her husband’s suicide over his failure as a chess gamer when she decides to aid her friend, another Duchess, in a plan to lure her husband back to London.
The plan involved Harriet dressing up as man named Harry Cope and accompanying her friends to reside at Lord Jem Strange’s estate.
Part of the amusing part of this story was trying to pull off the ruse as well as the inner musings of Lord Jem who found himself attracted to “Lord Cope”. I chuckled often and I enjoyed the personal growth of Jem and Harriet. It made me think of transgendered people in the Ton and the sheer terror it would have been for them. This story wasn’t about that but I thought about it anyway.
Harriet and Jem fit because they challenged each other mentally, academically and they were physically attracted to each other.
It was a fun story

Review:
So I happened to of randomly read book #2 a few years ago. Vicki owns and runs an inn where each room is decorated in the style of different fictional detectives. The title says it all. One of the guests is a polygamist family, of which the husband keeps offering Vicki to be his 4th wife, (turns out he is a distant cousin). We have 3 pregnancies, multiple marriage proposals, an affair, and a love triangle. This is the same thing that irked me in the other book and still irked me in this one. It seems to be a pretty wholesome story and there are strong family morals, yet there’s a stupid love triangle.
There was no real overarching murder mystery. Sure, there was a mystery there but there’s so many other things going on it’s not in the forefront.
