Yeah, they're a pretty horrifying bunch, for sure. ;)

I haven't been to any of these events in quite some time, but I was a regular for every one of them from 2002 till about 2007. Financial ugliness and other issues in life have conspired to take away some of my fun times. Once I hit that lottery, though... ;)
I love Z-hills. I've even considered moving out of the big city and finding a nice little corner of Z-hills to call home. Maybe someday. :)

Ouch. Silent Corpses. Good one.

Robert, you have no idea!

I'd like to extend a welcome to all new members as well ~ look forward to getting to know you all.

You better post. Robert will poke you with his pointy stick to see if your still alive ;)

Thought the group may be interested. I'll do my best to comment more often as I love 'Scaredy Cats'

My speciality is speculative fiction - always touch of horror within the pages, though genre's are mixed. My next book, The Wheels Final Turn has been accepted by my publisher and should be out sometime next year.
I host a weekly on-line, on-camera live radio broadcast each week and work full-time also, so it does get hectic.

I live in RI, originally from the Midwest. I used to read everything King wrote hot off the presses. I read a lot for work, not all in this genre, so it's my "junk food" reading (though sometimes I can get away with a few).
I've never had any experiences myself, but heard a couple of good ones from what we called a "non-trad" student in WI (meaning she wasn't in the 18-22 range--they tend to make things up).
I currently teach at a college that owns a lot of old mansions, and the stories abound (ergo the comment about students making things up). I've been in mine until 12 or 1 am in the past, and never had anything happen, other than finding the dark hallway lit by the red exit signs creepy on certain floors.
However, I've heard some good (and credible) stories--again, from staff/grad students, bonafide adults--about their experiences. The one building which is famously haunted will be the location of my new office starting in January, so if anything happens, I'll let you know!
In the meantime, these suggestions might be outside of your usual lists: Carlos Fuentes: short story "Chac Mool" and novella "Aura" (he also did a riff on Dracula called "Vlad", but i didn't find that one as good). For suspense, Carlos Ruiz Zafon's "Shadow of the Wind"(not supernatural, but the beginning is creepy and will hook you in). Also by Ruiz Zafon is "The Angel's Game" (Faustian). And not typical vampire material, but if it's available in English, Federico DeSanctis' "The Antiquarians" was good.
I don't like zombie books, but I did find the questions behind "Handling the Undead" very intriguing.

Gurglings and ruminations to all the new members!
Step right in. Don't mind the cold and dampness. That's the way we like it here. There are a few spider webs draped about here and there and squeaking coming from the walls, but that's all quite normal, I assure you.
Let the creepiness envelope you. Everyone here is mostly harmless; just a bit strange, though.
Have FUN!

Yvonne, sorry to hear of the loss of your father. Many of us have gone or will go through the loss of our parents. That's the sad part of life and our condolences are with you. Time doesn't heal the wounds it just allows us to deal with better.

I love horror comedies and Robert Englund stars in most of them. I love 1001 maniacs, he is hilarious.
