Susan Jo Grassi (susanjo) Thank you Eric for the welcome and the positive thoughts.

message 52: by Jeannie (new)

Jeannie (jaye0909) Thank you for the invite. Hi, all, my name is Jeannie. Just like most people on GoodReads, I love to read. Horror/thriller is my favorite, with mystery/paranormal right up there. I am a laid back gal who loves the outdoors, but hates the heat (ac baby all the way.) I live in S.E. Alabama would be lost without my books, both paper and electronic format.
Love with an open mind, live with a free heart. - Jeannie

Laura Thomas (laurathomas) | 1 comments Helle ya'll and thanks so much for the invite Robert. I've been reading everyone's comments and this looks like a fun group. My first love is horror but I like most any genre when well written. Some day I'd like to do a haunted house tour.
Most of my spare time is spent reading and reviewing books. And looking for that book that can truly scare me.
Looking forward to chatting.

message 54: by Tai (new)

Tai (jadedeyz) | 1 comments Hi all! I'm Tai from NJ. I love all kind of ghost, zombie, and horror books. The scarier the better. Unfortunately, I haven't come across any really good ones lately.

message 55: by ✨Susan✨ (new)

✨Susan✨ (suswelch) | 44 comments Hey y'all. I love a good horror. Thanks for the invite Robert. October should be a great month for this group.

message 56: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (sinisterangel) | 44 comments Hello all my name is Jennifer. I live in central Arkansas. Like mentioned above I am also not a meth headed, barefoot, corncob smoking hillbilly. That made me laugh! I have a beautiful and sassy little red head of a daughter and my monster mess of a pup Toto.
I read a lot of different genres of books, but horror is my favorite! As a child I could not get enough of ghost stories and horror movies, an then I found Swan Song which sent me on a new journey.
I am looking forward to the discussions!

message 57: by Kyla (new)

Kyla Gergely (kygergely) | 1 comments I'm Kyla and I'm from southwest MO. I love reading pretty much everything and anything. But I love horror books and anything that gets me thinking and gives me nightmares. I guess I just ask to have haunted dreams with what I read lol. I just cannot wait to read more and see what scares I can give myself!

message 58: by Amy (new)

Amy (6feetunderbooks) Hello! I'm Amy, I'm a reader/review, I run

I live in Hershey, PA. I love ghost stories and things that go bump in the night. I work full time and read in my spare time, sometimes I read a lot and sometimes I'm bogged down at work. See you @.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for inviting me to join the group. Hey everybody. I'm Alice and I write Gothic Romance and read ANYTHING, as long as it has a dark edge. Love ghost stories and creepy stories based in reality, and I love vampires believing them to be the original outcast dark hero. Not that into werewolves or zombies, but I won't rule them out, so long as they are wounded and heroic.

message 60: by Allison (new)

Allison Wilkins | 1 comments Hello to all!! I am Allison..I am from Houston, TX. As you might notice from my pic I am huge Marilyn Manson fan... often follow his tour around the US when I have plenty of vacation days. I love to read! Simple as that. I especially enjoy horror novels - novel that will keep me on the edge of my seat. I look forward to seeing what you guys like to read!!

Oh, nothing wrong with that start, I'd say. ;)

message 62: by Gmaharriet (new)

Gmaharriet I'm Harriet and new here. I'm living in California with my 2 indoor cats and 2 semi-feral outdoor cats. I've been a fan of horror fiction since Stephen King first published Carrie (yes, that was awhile back).

I read mostly horror, but also the occasional thriller, suspense, mystery and non-fiction history.

message 64: by Ann Marie (new)

Ann Marie Gustavson Hello All, I am from Minnesota and have loved all things scary or creepy for as long as I can remember. I very much enjoy reading paranormal, horror and anything that will make the hairs on the back of my neck go up. Thank you for the invite!

Quentin Wallace (quentinwallace) | 19 comments Hi! Quentin here, from Savannah GA, which is quite the haunted city. I am a horror author and a fan of all things horror be it books, comics, movies, video games, music, you name it! I like all types of horror, from Dracula and Frankenstein to Freddy and Jason and everything in between! Feel free to friend me, I am always looking to connect with fellow horror fans!

Ah... Savannah, GA. What a beautiful old southern city. I've been through there numerous times in my life.

message 67: by Robert (new)

Robert Roberts (goodreadscomrobertroberts) Just a reminder that when you join the group, please tell us a little about yourselves and where your from. We don't have lives ourselves, so we love to pry into other peoples.

message 68: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 40 comments Hey Robert,
I live in Alaska. In the middle of the state. I worry about a zombie hoard hovering just out of sight in the woods. I run to my car every morning. Its dark I can't see. I read all kinds of stuff. I consider myself to dabble in horror. I would rather read it than watch it.

message 69: by Robert (new)

Robert Roberts (goodreadscomrobertroberts) Jennifer, the Zombies are probably hovering to keep warm. How do you dabble in horror, by only mutilating half of a body?

message 70: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Richards | 6 comments I'm Debbie from England which is still today joined to Scotland despite the referendum which nearly split us up. I'm currently writing children's science fiction and my third book has just been accepted for publication. I love watching TV programmes on ghosts. I'm mildly clairvoyant and have seen lots of astral wild life, eg. orbs and shadowy balls, but never a full-bodied manifestation of a human.

message 71: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (LoveMyFrogs) | 6 comments Hello All. I am Mags from Mississippi. I love horror of any kind, Zombies, Serial Killers, paranormal stuff. you name it I read it!.

message 72: by Nicky (new)

Nicky | 1 comments Hi Everyone, and thanks for the invite Robert. My name is Nicky and I live on a farm in New Zealand with my partner, son, 4 cats and numerous other animals...

I read whenever time permits and mostly Post Apocalypse Survivor, Supernatural and Paranormal genres and also I'm interested in anything that is, reality possible. To mix it up, I also like anything based on Forensic Anthropology.

As far as writing goes I don't do as much as I'd like to, though I do send time proof reading other peoples work when possible.

As we live on a farm and the animals (two and four legged) have to come first.

message 76: by Nora aka Diva (new)

Nora aka Diva (DuctTapeDiva) | 120 comments Nora here. I haven't been on GoodReads in awhile but I'm back. I will attempt to read almost anything set in front of me but prefer horror/suspense. I live in the middle of Nowhere aka South Dakota. ;) I suck at intros so if there is anything that anyone actually wants to know just ask. :)

message 79: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa (vrh88) Hi, and thanks for the invite. I don't get much chance to read at the moment as I have a little monster to look after, but hoping to instil a love of reading, especially horror, fantasy & science fiction when she's old enough. Vanessa from Australia.

Eric Layton (vtel57) | 697 comments Mod
Welcome, Vanessa!

You don't have to be a reading fiend to hang around here, just a regular fiend will do fine. ;)

message 81: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen Molyneaux | 8 comments Hi and thanks for the invite. I'm a somewhat tentative horror fan. I like Poe and Lovecraft, but can't handle too much modern horror unless it's tongue in cheek (like Shaun of the Dead, Tucker and Dale vs. Evil etc.). I live in Cleveland with my husband and one cat. Used to have two, but the pudgy black and white kitty in my photo died this year. Or as we prefer to think of it, she squeezed herself into the too-small-box in the sky. Interesting group. I'm enjoying poking around and learning what scares everyone.

message 82: by Eric, The Crypt Keeper (last edited Sep 22, 2014 08:18PM) (new)

Eric Layton (vtel57) | 697 comments Mod
Liking Poe and Lovecraft, both elder masters of horror fiction, over-qualifies you immediately for that "tentative" classification. ;)

Sorry for your kitty loss. We become very attached to our kitties. I know. I have a few. :)

message 83: by Jenna (new)

Jenna Hi and thanks for the invite. I love to read. Almost any genre. But I especially love mysteries and thrillers. It's fun to be on the edge of your seat -- even if you are afraid to get out of it...

message 84: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 14 comments Hiya! I'm a native Chicagoan transplanted to Texas. I live there with my fiancé and our 2 cats. I've been reading horror since junior high, when I used to read it only during daylight hours and then I would put the book face down. Haha, silliness. I've read almost everything Stephen King's written, a lot of Koontz (fave is Lightning, don't like much else of his), and am enjoying my way through Joe Hill's oeuvre. Am fascinated by the paranormal.

message 85: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (littlemissred3) | 804 comments Hi everyone and thanks for the invite! I'm originally from Texas, but moved to New Mexico (here 14 yrs. now) after meeting my husband in a chatroom. Love to read, especially horror, and been a goodreads member for a little bit now.

message 88: by Monica (new)

Monica Go | 258 comments UUh I just noticed this. Ok. Hi, I'm Monica I live in a little town in southern Italy, in Basilicata. A few days ago, the town were I studied here was selected as European Capital of culture for 2019 (if someone is interested :D, I wanted to share)http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_.... Anyways I'm a student of archaeology, I graduated in march and now I'm studying for second degree (I don't know if it's the right terminology). I live with my parents. I have a lovely guinea pig and I have always been interested in the horror genre. I've been watching horror movies since I was a kid (behind my mom's back), but I started to read late, I'm a youngreader I have a lot of catch-up to do. I would like to read all of S. King's books and thanks to Goodreads and groups like this I discovered more and more authors. My first Dean Koontz is on my shelf waiting, and I absolutely love Joe Hill. I don't read only horrors though.

message 89: by Kellie (new)

Kellie | 366 comments Hi my name is Kellie and I'm from NJ. I love a lot of genres and horror is right in top. I love Stephen King, Blake Crouch, JA Konrath, Tim Curran. I haven't read Dean Koontz yet.

message 92: by Gmaharriet (new)

Gmaharriet Hi Jennicem, Carla, Breann and Martha! Welcome to our fun group of ghouly readers.

message 93: by Christy (new)

Christy Letterman Fair | 14 comments I am also from the Appalachian Mountains. I live in East Tennessee. I have also started reading audio books, as I saw another reader comment. I liked to listen to them instead of music while walking. I have had a few paranormal experiences in my lifetime but it has been years. I am very interested and would love to be a guest on a real investigation. I love to watch and read horror and some fantasy. Prey by Masterton was very scary and I also love Tamera Thorne books. They have actually scared me which is hard to do with a book. King and Koontz are overrated for me. I just don't care for their writing style. Although, I loved Lightening by Dean Koontz (not horror). Tananarive Due (spell?) is also a scary writer. I liked the Witching Hour trilogy by Anne Rice but haven't read a lot of her stuff. I love John Saul!

message 98: by Karen (new)

Karen (singout) Hi & thanks Robert, for the kind welcome. Also, hi to everyone. I'm so excited to join you all. I love horror movies, novels, poems and anything horror related. I've never had a paranormal experience. I don't know if I could handle one. Anyway, I'm already enjoying the posts you've all submitted. You guys are a fun group!
