Erika Doing well here! Going to get some quality reading in this weekend. Mom and I are taking a trip to the casino to try our luck tomorrow. Other than that my plan is to relax

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 1142 comments Hey there, Erika! Good luck tomorrow.

I've finished HP book 3 and have started on book 4. I'll post book 3 completion once I get some discussion in.

Emma (M) | 1777 comments I’m hoping to get some quality reading in this week, in fact I might go run a bath and do some reading right now :)

That sounds lovely, Emma!

It's a gloomy day here. I'm going to go for a run before it starts raining. Then I've got to take my dog to get groomed and we've got some gear to pick up for our Alaska Trip so I won't be getting much reading int until late afternoon.

It's raining here now after two beautiful days of sun and warm weather!

SandyL | 4747 comments Hey Newts

We didn't get a response the last time I put this out there, but we've got some new players.......
Does anyone want to take a shot at coming up with the essay for History of Magic? We need to write a short story/essay using the titles of books. It can be just a few sentences long, but needs 7 book titles. We can all work on it together as well, putting together pieces.

Any book that isn't highlighted on the spread sheet is available.

Sandy, I can take a look at that tonight after I finish my running around.

message 367: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments Thanks @Sassafrass!

I saw two books I thought might make an interesting story - Darkness on the Edge of Town and In The Absence Of Light, but we've got a lot to choose from.

message 368: by Linda C (new)

Linda C (libladynylindac) | 913 comments I came up with something using 8 titles. Can we use more and get more points?

One Grim Tuesday, the Lilac Girls took the Night Flight to the Edge of Maine. In The Absence Of Light, in the Darkness on the Edge of Town, these Desperate Characters whispered "Bury Your Dead"

message 369: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments Awesome Linda! We can only use 7 (no extra credit 😢) but it will still work. We could change the second sentence to something like "At the Darkness on the Edge of Town, these Desperate Characters whispered "Bury Your Dead"

message 370: by Linda C (new)

Linda C (libladynylindac) | 913 comments How about the second sentence reading:

These Desperate Characters whispered "Bury Your Dead" in the Darkness on the Edge of Town.

message 377: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments Amazing Quidditch play, Danielle!!!

Don't forget about the buddy reads, Newts - it's an easy way to add extra points and if there isn't one for a book you want to read, it's easy to put in a request:

Laura | 9707 comments SandyL wrote: "Hi Newts! How was everyone's weekend? I know Danielle was busy playing Quidditch all weekend - how about the rest of you?"

Hi ya Newts!

I worked Saturday; yesterday I made progress on 4 books ( I don't usually read that many at a time), watched some tv with the daughter, walked the dog, and worked on moderator stuff. I am loving this book Written in Red (The Others, #1) by Anne Bishop .( How could I have not read this series earlier? ) I'm also reading Leah on the Offbeat (Creekwood, #2) by Becky Albertalli - current BOM, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter, #3) by J.K. Rowling and The Good Liar by Catherine McKenzie

message 392: by Laura (new)

Laura | 9707 comments Sassafras, I loved Written in Red. We are setting up for the next one! I'm enjoying the Harry Potter books ( I was trying to catch up to you.... but... - now I've over committed to to many!) Liking Leah too.... more than I thought. Also leisurely reading that one.

message 393: by Sassafrass (new)

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 1142 comments Laura, I haven't read any of Leah this week at all because I've been immersed in OoTP which is a brick. I'll get back to it this weekend.

I've got Leah on hold on overdrive - I think I'm like #55, so probably won't get it before TT is over. Sigh.... I'm slowly reading Goblet of Fire - I think you'll read right by me on the HP books, Laura!

I'm not so sure, Sandy. I finished #3. Liked it more than I thought, but I have too many buddy reads I committed to. I want to read the next one but I will wait and try to finish these other books I have on the go and committed too. I have two library books to return on the 9th... they will be late.
