Great review! I'm not sure why but I've never really been interested in picking up this series. I think it's because I saw the TV show (well, one season of it anyway). I liked it a lot, but for some reason it makes me not want to read the books. Still, I may get around to reading this series eventually.

I'm about two thirds through Holiday in Death for the Futuristic Romance shelf and I'm going to read Silence Fallen for Free Space."
Glad you had a good reading weekend!
And I still haven't started my week 1 book. I'm just not motivated to read it at the moment, but will still start it soon.

Thanks. I understand how you feel. I read the first three books when they came out. And while I liked them, I wasn't desperate to continue at that time. Then I watched some of the TV series and the characters and storylines were so different that I didn't keep watching that either. Now, I think both are enough in my past to continue. Honestly I like every other series by Charlaine Harris better than Sookie, but they are cute, fast little books.
I started

It was very disappointing - but I think I'm once again the minority with that opinion haha. (It happens fairly often with the very hyped things.)

But I'm as always happy to hear I'm not alone hehe.

Review
Another instalment I enjoyed a lot.
It was an interesting investigation and I was wondering for quite a while who the murderer was until it clicked into place. The fact that it was particularly personal for Eve made for a little extra spice in this one.
I was a little sad not to see the immediate aftermath after the end of the previous book between Summerset and Eve but it was probably just as well. Their relationship is sort of back to what it was and their encounters are just as fun as they used to be.
In a lot of other aspects, Eve has grown a lot in this book. So have her relationships with the various important people in her life. It's great to see her develop further with every book in the series.

Review: This would probably be more appreciated by someone who likes romance novels. The writing was good, the storyline was okay, the background characters interesting. However, the hero was a rich, stoic, manly-man alpha who thought he had to take care of the heroine and tell her how to live her life. And worse, the heroine was a humourless, uptight, unrelenting prig who needed someone to tell her how to live her life. And of course, quite magically, these two horrid people create a seething cauldron of amazing passion. Don't buy it, didn't enjoy it much, but at least the shelf is over now. :)

In Death seems to always be a good pick for me, for now anyway since I'm still at the beginning of the series. And I'm definitely looking forward to reading Mercy, which I'll start tomorrow - was waiting for a start deadline in another challenge ;-)
My current book so far is intriguing but getting to the point where I want to know what on earth is going on haha. Hopefully the reveal will happen soon, since I'm halfway through.

I really like the In Death series, but I'm a little too good at guessing the bad guy and the books begin to feel really repetitive. But at book #22 I'm still really enjoying the series, just so long as I spread the books out and don't read them too close together. And I think Holiday in Death was one of my favorites so glad you like it :)
Anyways, it's only been a week and I'm already behind (oops). I just started my futuristic book, Memory in Death, but it shouldn't take me too long to catch up with the first shelf. I've just been really busy this week and did not plan my books for well for my challenges this week.

Still lots of time to play catch-up as we've only started out, and the first week is always a little trickier since you're basically trying to fit in two books instead of one - which doesn't always work out with other challenges or life.
I can imagine that the In Death series might become a little repetitive after a while so spacing them out sounds like a good plan!

Looking forward to our next shelf call.

Review: This book was more romance than futuristic. Tedra fled her invaded world to not become a slave and ended up in the mother world of the men that they were invaded by. The men rule this country and they are barbarians. This book has funny scenes but it gets off the reason the main character is there. I liked her romance novels but as for Futuristic no, not for me

It was written back in 1990, so a bodice ripper in space? Maybe. It's been a very long time since I've read it, I can't really remember it.

Oh wow, definitely an old book already in some respects. Bodice ripper in space ;-))

I have less than 20 min left on the Vision in Silver audiobook and just requested Marked in Flesh from my library. I'm on hold so hopefully I'll get it by the time I finish Memory in Death. If not I'll just read the ebook or something else from the shelf.

It's weird to think how long ago 1990 was. :D

I'm definitely going to read Marked in Flesh for this shelf, just hope my library comes through with the audiobook. I didn't even like the audio at first for Vision, but it grew on me and now I want to continue with it - plus I already have a ton of physical books I need to read.

I get most of my audio books from Audible or my library through Overdrive (haven't tried using hoopla or the other library apps yet). Audible isn't the cheapest, but I like it and have had an account for years.
I've also used Scribd in the past, but didn't care much for there selections so canceled my subscription. Although I know many others who love it.

Oh no! I LOVE audio books, especially on road trips! But I understand they're not for everyone. I know I can't listen to non-fiction books, but for others it's their preferred option. If you ever decide to try them again let me know and I can recommend a few :)

Oooh, I like the sound of that! *sigh* but i'd probably have to live in the county to get a card :(

Sorry - most people's favourites are the worst for me. For example, the woman who reads the In Death series makes me homicidal. She also made me hate Peabody for years. And that was after about 20 minutes of book. :) And don't get me started on the Dresden series. I just can't. Something about hearing books read out loud make me notice how bad the dialogue bothers me, even in books I have already read and enjoyed. I tolerate things better in my own brain.
To be fair I also hate cartoons/voice acting. And I rarely watch a movie/TV series from a book I have enjoyed. When I read I imagine the characters, scenery and voices in my head. They rarely match Hollywood's ideas. The only movie better than the book is The Princess Bride and that's because I really didn't like the book.
I have accepted my oddness. :)

haha no worries, everyone's different :)
I've actually been listening to the In Death books since the fifth or six book. I didn't like it at first, particularly Peabody's voice, but it sort of grew on me and I decided to give it a second chance after finishing my first audio of it. It's still not may favorite narration, but I'm hooked and can't seem to switch back to the physical copies. Although, I think it's more the story I enjoy listening to and not the narration (if that makes sense).
And I'm the same with movie/tv adaptions. I do still watch them, but it's always a dilemma. Although, I feel as though I never have time to watch anything because I spend all my free time reading =)
(and the Princess Bride book was disappointing)

I need to check this out!

Sounds awesome, except the audio part. ;)

I prefer things in my own head rather than listening to audio. There are a very few exceptions and this is the Harry Dresden series. I listened to all of those on audio because I really liked Marster's voice as Harry.
The other exception is the Iron Druid Chronicles. Those I quite like on audio for some reason.
The In Death series... I'm still unsure whether I like the audio or not. I tried twice but... meh.
Other than that... I've listened into a couple but after a few minutes my brain just goes "NOPE" and that's that.
I also rarely read ebooks as I prefer a proper paperback novel. I only read on screen from time to time when I'm pressed for time because of a challenge and the screen reading is easier to sneak into work ;-) I'm staring intently at my work, which is then actually a book haha.

Review:
When I was reading books five and six I wasn't sure if I'd continue with this series. I liked it, but didn't think I liked it enough to read 40+ books. But, now that I've read and enjoyed 22 books I'm pretty much committed to finish this series.
I really enjoyed the mystery in this one. The majority of the books seem to follow serial killers who hate women or some kind of terrorist plot, but this one uncovered the death of Eve's former foster mother. It was nice having this change of pace as well as learning more about Eve's past. I did figure out the killer pretty easily, but apparently me being able to figure out the killers does not detract from my enjoyment of the series.
I also liked spending time with Eve and Roarke as the celebrate the holidays and saw progress with both their relationship and how Eve's adapted to Roarke's world compared to their Christmas the year prior in Holiday in Death.

I also thought it a bit funny that my book takes place exactly a year after the one Eldarwen read.
And I was really hoping my library would come through with the audio for Marked in Flesh. If I don't have it by the time I get off work I'll read the ebook version. I really need to catch up so I'm no longer a week behind.

That IS funny! And that's quite a few books in that one year. Eve is going to be terribly busy again.
Fingers crossed for the audio!
I'm about half-way through

Review:
I continue to love this series and its amazing world building and characters!
This novel begins right after Silence Fallen with Bran still out of the country and Charles acting as pack alpha. During this time trouble arises when one of the Wildlings - the packs very old werewolves that are going mad and living in isolation, is attacked. It was great seeing Charles deal with the situation in the role of alpha, especially with Bran not only being out of the country, but suspiciously silent.
I really liked how the whole story played out, with everyone working to figure whose attacking the wildlings and investigating the possibility of a traitor in their midst. I don't think the mystery itself was Brigg's best work, it was still good, but what really drew the plot was the characters and expanding the world a bit more. And not only do we get more of some of my favorite characters (Asil <3), but we get to learn more about Leah as well as introduced to a great new character amongst the Wildlings. Anna also got to explore and use more of her Omega powers - which was one of my favorite scenes.
I did have a little difficulty getting into the story, but that was mostly because it'd been awhile since I read the series and found myself setting this book down in order to flip through and read parts of the
earlier books - not because I was confused, but because I love the characters so much I wanted to join them at the beginning. Just wish I had more time for a proper re-read.
Lastly, I saw some angry reviews about a revelation concerning Bran. (view spoiler)[Basically, Anna and Charles are discussing Mercy and came to the conclusion that Bran had more than fatherly feelings towards her growing up. My first thought was 'eww', but I mostly thought the entire conversation was out of place. It seemed so random and their was never any indication in the previous books that Bran harbored any romantic feeling towards Mercy that it just didn't fit. I think this was simply done to give Leah a bit more sympathy. She was actually pretty cool in this book so I think that was just to help us sympathize and understand why she's the way she is. But, again, it just felt out of place.
And after my initial eww, it didn't really bother me much. Simon is nearly as old as Bran and he did WAY more than just think about Mercy in a different light and no one seems to have a problem with that. And being so old and longed lived I'm sure a lot of werewolves witnessed the birth and growth of their future mates.
So, I didn't particularly like it and could have done without that knowledge; especially since the whole thing didn't seem to fit with the story. But, it didn't take away any my love for the book/series or Bran. (hide spoiler)]
