Thought I requested this but forgot to come back.

Can we have a thread for The Aeronaut's Windlass (The Cinder Spires, #1) by Jim Butcher starting June 7?

Would anyone be up for Ready Player One (Ready Player One, #1) by Ernest Cline / Ready Player One by Ernest Cline ? To start around June 5th?

Or maybe Web of Lies (Elemental Assassin, #2) by Jennifer Estep ? Somewhere in the middle of June?

Oh, me, me. I love that series. I've got a serious crush on Revelstoke Templeton Vane AKA Stoker, lol! And Veronica's not bad either.

Anytime after the first week of June is fine with me.

Devann (devannm) | 2778 comments hey guys, i had my team captain ask the mods if we could count The Shoebox Project as a book and they said yes!

The Shoebox Project by Jaida Jones

so i was wondering if anyone wanted to do it as a buddy read? if you're not familiar it's a very long [although sadly unfinished] marauder era fanfic and the main pairings are james/lily and sirius/remus.

message 580: by Laura (new)

Laura | 5524 comments Anyone up for:

Stormcaster (Shattered Realms, #3) by Cinda Williams Chima Black Widow (Elemental Assassin, #12) by Jennifer Estep Belle An Amish Retelling of Beauty and the Beast (An Amish Fairytale #1) by Sarah Price

(I need to read the last one before the end of May.)

I'd be interested in Web of Lies (Elemental Assassin, #2) by Jennifer Estep in mid-June. It's been awhile since I read book one, but I liked it enough that book 2 is on my buy list.

message 583: by Devann (last edited May 25, 2018 05:48PM) (new)

Devann (devannm) | 2778 comments @Christina i'm not sure what their exact reasoning behind approving the shoebox project was but i assume it's because 1. it's novel length and 2. it's probably the most popular HP fic ever written so a lot of us have fond memories of reading it along with the series. so i don't think we can just read any old fanfiction and count it [and i hope i haven't started a slippery slope kind of situation here *g*].

Basically any book just needs to meet the challenge rules.
So -
graphic novel, poetry, cookbook? no
children's book with less than a verified word count of 25,000 words? no
a book that isn't on Goodreads ? no
a book that is less than 100 pages? no

If it is on goodreads, is over the required word/page limit and isn't in one of the categories mentioned above (graphic, poetry etc.) then you can use it.

Fan Fic won't be counted as the extra 10 points for the HP buddy reads though.

Great! :-) Which date would you like to start on? 15th? Or a little earlier/later?

The 15th works for me.

message 590: by Devann (new)

Devann (devannm) | 2778 comments @Karen thanks for the clarification and it definitely makes sense that any HP fanfic won't get the extra 10 points since it's not actually a canon part of the series [no matter how much we wish it was sometimes lol]

@Erika mid-july would probably work best for me as i've already got BRs going on the 8th and 22nd. you want to just start on the 15th then?

message 594: by Erika (new)

@tammi i’d love to read the fault in our stars! When were you looking to start?

message 595: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments Oh awesome Karen, thanks for clarifying! My main reason for not actually wanting to start a new challenge was that I wanted to start reading some fics again, but I didn't realize so many of them were on goodreads as well 🎉
