Which new releases are you most looking forward to?

I hope Bancroft doesn't pull a Patrick Rothfuss/George R.R. Martin....

Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher

Sorrowland by Rivers Solomon
Iron Goddess of Mercy by Larissa Lai
One Day All This Will Be Yours by Adrian Tchaikovsky
The Hidden Palace by Helene Wecker

One that I am excited for is She Who Became the Sun

This, and many other titles, found from the Winter 2021 BIPOC SFF Title List.

I like the new one slightly better. Overly colorful covers make me think of gardening/cooking books LOL

!!!!!!!!!!!! <3"
you had my hopes up - I thought this was part of Elizabeth Moon's Paladin's Legacy series

!!!!!!!!!!!! <3"
Oh, YAY! I just pre-ordered it. Thanks for the tip, Anna!!

it's not out until November, but it is $3.99 on pre-order

I guess I am a droog now."
So keen for this one myself! Getting excited about all the special editions :D

I'm not crying, you're crying! I needed it! Now I just have to spend a couple of hours going back and forth deciding if I spend a credit on it or just buy it with the reduced price because I have the Kindle edition, and then I can fall asleep tonight to Swordheart!
<3
My only sample grumble is that the narrator sounds too young, but maybe it'll be OK.
It's also on Storytel!!!!!

I'm very interested in this, too! Maybe we can BR it around the end of the year?

re: Swordheart audio
I didn't buy it, because the Minor Mage audiobook was so horrible and I had doubts about this one. Since it's on Storytel, I decided to listen first, then buy if I like it. And ... I don't know :/
The narrator isn't bad, just completely wrong for the book. She's way too young, and the voices she's doing for all non-Halla characters are not only so wrong, but some of them are completely cringy. Sarkis has a pseudo Scottish accent! :S He sounds like he wants to be Lord Maccon (from Soulless), and he *really* didn't give me Scottish werewolf vibes when I eye-read the book <_<
It's a shame that so many T. Kingfisher books either aren't on audio or have horrible narrators :( I would love to listen to all of them all the time. I understand that it's probably harder to do audio for self-pub books, but I'd rather have no audio than a horrible one like MM!
I can't wait for Nettle & Bone! It's trad-pub non-horror, so I'm expecting the audio to be good!

It’s hard once characters get a solid feel in ones head to hear or see something different. Also Halla being an older widow is pretty important! That would annoy me.
I’m a big lord Macon fan but I agree that’s not what I would have expected (cause there were no little phrases like lass or dinna... )

My wife is listening to this and has some of the same reservations. She was puzzled by the choice of a narrator who sounds far too young for Halla and pretty annoyed by initial voice for Sarkis. She's a ways in now and says that she's "getting used to it" but in a tone that tells me that she would likely have been happier eye reading it again instead. Oops.

Yes!
It's not exactly ruining the book, but I'm not loving it like I should be.

It's on Storytel.
Read by a dude, not sure how I feel about that, but I guess it's Stephen's book as much as Grace's :)
This better be better.
edit: Sampling other books read by this narrator, his voice is super deep and gravely, which is something I can't listen to. I'm going to have pay someone to sit beside my bed and read T. Kingfisher books to me every night.
Tantor, why do you hate me? :(

Spirits Abroad is coming on audio in August, narrated by EWZ! (That's Emily Woo Zeller. Yes, I had to write it this way. Just go with it.)
I can't see a Kindle edition of this book on sale at all, but I know a new edition is coming, so maybe there'll also be a new ebook edition with more stories? I'll buy all new editions in all formats as soon as they're available! <3

Anna, here's the US link for the Kindle version of Spirits Abroad, which is available next week: https://www.amazon.com/Spirits-Abroad...

Master of the Revels by Nicole Galland (she was co-author of D.O.D.O.

And yay for more Okorafor!

OK, thanks for the info. I'm In Australia. Usually kindle books are released here on the same date as US and elsewhere, but occasionally not, as clearly in this case.......... dunno why.........
I may sneak a look at a few US reviews, then, although I want to avoid spoilers.

We're all going to be swimming in paladin romances!

So... Are all of the books in this part of T. Kingfisher's writing universe romances? I recently read Clockwork Boys, am currently listening to Swordheart, and my spouse describes the paladin books as (view spoiler) . It's made me wonder. Not that I'm complaining...
I'd love to see another sword book too!

I dug a bit more and though it looks short to me, Tor seems to be calling it a novel. So maybe it will be more meaty.
