Well if you if you want to get into Fantasy fiction books that will keep you reading that will be a great one to get into. If you want to know which one to start with I can help you out.

Is that the story that was a TV series in the 80's called 'The Water Margins' ?

It is a re-telling (and re-gendered telling) of The Water Margin, which is a very famous work in Chinese literature. (Translations are available.) I'm not aware that it was ever a TV series, but my TV background (especially in the 80's) is very poor.

Oh sorry, it was the 70's not the 80s. It was shown in a dubbed version in the UK and may have never made it to the USA. It would be great is some streaming company bought this up.

To fix the world they must first break it, further.
Humanity is a dying breed, utterly reliant on artificial labor and service.
When a domesticated robot gets a nasty little idea downloaded into its core programming, they murder their owner. The robot discovers they can also do something else they never did before: they can run away.
Fleeing the household they enter a wider world they never knew existed, where the age-old hierarchy of humans at the top is disintegrating into ruins and an entire robot ecosystem devoted to human wellbeing is having to find a new purpose.
Sometimes all it takes is a nudge to overcome the limits of your programming.
**** sounds like a mix between murderbot and Children of Time****

This sounds great, and this part of the publisher description makes me even more excited: "...Murderbot meets Redshirts in a delightfully humorous tale of robotic murder....".
My first try with Tchaikovsky was One Day All This Will Be Yours - I thought I'd start with something short, and unfortunately the humor wore thin - should have been a long short story, IMHO. But I've loved all his other books that I've read .... I'm hoping I don't have a humor problem with him....

I'm also looking forward to The Tainted Cup. I haven't read any books by this author, so I'll be going in completely blind. But the premise sounds super interesting.

Also The Doors of Stone but... y'know...

Every now and then I search on "alecto the ninth cover reveal" just in case. You're right, haven't seen a thing yet. :(
I'm looking forward to the new Murderbot coming out on the 15th: System Collapse.

Me either I pre ordered it.

- Somewhere Beyond the Sea by T.J. Klune
- The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst
- A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna
- Summers End by Juneau Black

Both are definitely release day purchases for me

YES! Can't wait for Beyond the Sea!

I don’t know why they are making us wait til 2025. I feel like I’ve already been waiting so long. 😩

Soooooo looking forward to this one! But am not going to read in advance - I want to read the whole thing in one go. :)

Queen Demon, the follow-up to Witch King, by Martha Wells is now available for pre-order on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. It's planned release date is July 8, 2025.
I love Witch King--it, along with the Murderbot Diaries, have been my go-to comfort reads while I go through cancer treatment--so I am super excited for the second book in the series.

Thank you!

I've heard good things about that one from reviewers who got advanced copies!
I just finished Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao, and now am very much looking forward to its sequel, Heavenly Tyrant, due out this December.

I read the description of the first book. It looks like the Tang Dynasty is at war with aliens. Pretty funny idea, but I'm not sure how it's realised in the book. I mean the writing style and things like that.

Also in my radar: Jamaica Ginger and Other Concoctions by Nalo Hopkinson

It's quite fun! I recommend it.

Thanks for the reminder - it takes a lot for me to tackle a space opera and the first book in the series was so worth it!
