*peeks at cover* Oh. (view spoiler)

Thanks for sharing the sneak peek! I'll probably hold out on it until the release or right before, to keep it fresh.

message 765: by Mel (new)

Mel | 509 comments Some 2023 releases I'm looking forward to:

Prince and Pawn - I liked the first two in this fantasy romance series. They were a light and fun pick-me-up.
Rose/House - still have been meaning to read Arkady Martine! Maybe a novella will help me get a taste before Teixcalaan
The Mimicking of Known Successes by Malka Ann Older
Untethered Sky - ever since Marahute in the Rescuers Down Under, I can't resist giant birds of prey
Some Desperate Glory by Emily Tesh
Witch King by Martha Wells
Thornhedge by T. Kingfisher
Dark Rise #2 by C.S. Pacat
System Collapse (Murderbot #7) by Martha Wells

message 766: by Beth (new)

Beth (rosewoodpip) | 2005 comments Among those, Witch King and System Collapse are high on my gimme list, as well as Alecto the Ninth, though I'll have to read Nona first.

message 767: by Mel (new)

Mel | 509 comments Can't wait for Alecto! Did a BR series read leading up to Nona in another group, and already can't wait for all the chaos and memes and screaming in the threads. *dips candles to prepare for my Alecto Advent wreath*

message 768: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellehartline) | 3168 comments Rachel Neumeier has two books in the Tuyo series coming out this year 😁 "Tano" in March and "Tasmakat" in July. There are no links for the books yet on goodreads.

And that reminds me! @Ryan, did you ever read Suelen yet?

Woohoo, lovely. If that's Murderbot on the cover, he/she almost looks human.

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments Did we know that there will be a fourth book in the Annihilation series?!

Absolution

(I know it’s old news but if I knew about it I’d forgotten, so it was news again 😅)

cass ♡ | 19 comments I recently saw Briardark available for a giveaway, and the story sounds hauntingly intriguing! I can't wait to get my hands on a copy! Looks like my library system isn't ordering it, so I'll be buying a copy on Amazon.

message 777: by Gabi (new)

Gabi | 3441 comments Just pre-ordered "Lords of Uncreation". I'm so curious how Tchaikovsky will end this trilogy.

message 778: by Beth (new)

Beth (rosewoodpip) | 2005 comments From a tor.com publishing email today: tor.com will be republishing six of Martha Wells' earlier novels, starting with a revised edition of City of Bones.

https://www.tor.com/2023/01/10/book-a...

I'm very slightly sore we didn't see a sequel to personal favorite CoB due to Tor dropping Wells--this was in the late '90s or early '00s, quite some time before tor.com, distinct from Tor, became a book publisher. But if Wells isn't complaining, it would be pretty ungracious for me to. I hope these reissues send loads of money to her coffers. :) CoB will be in trade paper and ebook.

Yes! Every entry in this series has been a gem.

message 782: by Beth (new)

Beth (rosewoodpip) | 2005 comments The cover of that one is gorgeous, just like all the others in that series. I've only read the first of them, and gave it 5 stars, so I'm not sure what I'm waiting for.

Wait, what? I completely missed it. But then again, I wouldn't know to look for the news about book 4 in a series called Southern Reach Trilogy 😅

message 784: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3167 comments Pod by Laline Paull was just put on my radar as it ended up on the Women's Prize for Fiction Longlist this year. Looks like it's been out in the UK for about a year now - but just released in the US in February.

I've never read the author's other book that has come up here from time to time, The Bees, but I'm tempted by the idea of a story told from a Dolphin's point of view.

message 785: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1405 comments Oooh - I loved listening to the Bees. Thanks for putting this on my radar!

Looks like Have Spirit, Will Duchess is coming June 15.

Tansy Rayner Roberts has also announced an upcoming Kickstarter campaign for a book called "The Time of the Cat," which she describes as featuring "cozy time travel and cranky cats," so I am all in for that.

The kickstarter is not live yet, but is coming next month (I think) and you can sign up for a notification when it starts: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...
(It also looks like her previous kickstarters were eventually widely available).

message 796: by Meredith (new)

Meredith | 1775 comments Chaos Terminal, by Mur Lafferty. Sequel to Station Eternity which was a really excellent sci-fi mystery with lots of interesting alien species. So, I hope this has more of that. Expected Nov 7.

message 797: by Raucous (new)

Raucous | 888 comments Meredith wrote: "Chaos Terminal, by Mur Lafferty. Sequel to Station Eternity which was a really excellent sci-fi mystery with lots of interesting alien species. ..."

Yes! It's the only book that I currently have on preorder. Perhaps we can set up a BR for it when it comes out.

I would be into that! Station Eternity was a such a well constructed mystery set in a very detailed sci fi world.
