Sara And if you don't have a favorite color, you can just pick any color!

My favorite color is gray/grey. The first book I thought of is a HARD NO - Fifty Shades of Grey. But I have a book on my shelf at home called Grey is the Color of Hope. I've been meaning to read it for several years.

message 8: by Lindi (new)

Lindi (lindimarie) I hope the "white is a SHADE not a COLOR" people aren't hangin' around because I'm eyeing White Oleander for this prompt ;)

LOL White is a COLOR if you ask me. It comes in a tube of acrylic paint just like all my other colors!

As the old story goes: "and black is a color too, so the TV I sold you WAS a color TV"! ;-)

message 11: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 31 comments Green Eggs and Ham is the first book that comes to mind but I'll probably pick something else.

Christine H | 496 comments I felt like plain old "blue" was too easy (though I may use it to read The Blue Castle, which is on my list thanks to you guys.)

So I found this helpful list of Crayola colors and tried to get a little more specific. Unfortunately the top cerulean book was Anita Blake #11, and given that I couldn't get through #1, I'd like to give that a miss.

If I don't go with "blue" I'll probably do Diamond Dogs, Turquoise Days

If you can get this on audio, I highly recommend it. The narrator does a great job and it really enhanced the experience for me.

What about Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde? I haven't read it yet, but it is on my list for next year.

Oranges are not the only Fruit
Out of Orange
A Clockwork Orange

message 19: by Ronni (new)

Ronni (rgnimps) | 17 comments The titles of books in John D. MacDonald's Travis McGee mystery series feature colors from blue to pink to lavender to turquoise.

Walter Mosley's Easy Rawlins mystery series also does this with some of titles - from yellow and green to rose gold!

I just finished that book last week and it was really good. Funny also, but you have to like absurd humor.

I'm considering:

The Red Road by Denise Mina
Red Bones by Ann Cleeves
Red Moon by Benjamin Percy
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

And from books I've already read, I recommend:

Red Rising by Pierce Brown
The Redbreast by Jo Nesbo
A Red Herring Without Mustard by Alan Bradley

message 32: by Nichelle (new)

Nichelle | 58 comments My favorite color is green. This is already on my list. The White Woman on the Green Bicycle

message 40: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Loves Reading | 10 comments I love pink but this seems too hard! I can't think of any popular books with pink or fuchsia in the title and the search function is a little lacking with potential books.

Sara Kelly wrote: "I love pink but this seems too hard! I can't think of any popular books with pink or fuchsia in the title and the search function is a little lacking with potential books."

The Secret History of the Pink Carnation is a good book!

If you don't mind an older book, The King in Yellow could work. Or The Yellow Wall-Paper and Other Stories.

I adore that series!! ... as Sara probably knows already, since I keep on about it ;-)

That's a good series for other colors, too:
The Masque of the Black Tulip
The Deception of the Emerald Ring
The Seduction of the Crimson Rose
The Orchid Affair (ok this one is pushing it, admittedly - I'm pretty sure this was orchid the flower)
The Passion of the Purple Plumeria

Pink Carnation is the first in the series. I read the series in order, but I think you could enjoy it out of order too if you just need that one title. Each book has a strong romance theme combined with espionage hijinks. Some of it is silly, some of it is serious.

Raquel (Silver Valkyrie Reads) | 896 comments Sydney wrote: "Any ideas for black??? Other than Orange is the New Black and The Black Stallion."

I'm planning to finally read The Black Count: Glory, Revolution, Betrayal, and the Real Count of Monte Cristo for this one.

On other colors (these are books I've read and enjoyed):
White:
The White Rose

Silver:
Streams of Silver
The Silver Chair (If you've never read the Chronicles of Narnia, read the first one for 'childhood classic' or 'movie I've already seen', the second one for 'book in a series I started', the third one for 'book set at sea' and then silver chair can be used for this prompt.)

Red:
A Red Herring Without Mustard
Redshirts

Pink/Rose:
Rose in Bloom

Bronze:
The Bronze Eagle

Green (or Gray):
The Green and the Gray

Blue:
Laddie: A True Blue Story

Jessica Jerris | 42 comments Nora Roberts, "Black Hills"

message 49: by Olga (new)

Olga | 5 comments I'll be doing Black Swan Green because of green and David Mitchell, but I guess lovers of black could also check it out?
