Tim | 8539 comments Ha! That has to be the ultimate! BYO Chippie!

message 3252: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Locally we have a couple of cafes which do really good pie and peas which they bring to your premises. All at a very reasonable price

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Afternoon everyone. Enjoying a couple of days off and some satisfaction in crossing things off my todo list. Going to have some lunch now though before I go do my bit in topping up blood stocks, managed to get an appt this afternoon.
Have a good hump day everyone :)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4836 comments Big snow load coming; radar map shows we're on the wrong side of the snow/rain line, and will get buried. Hope it's my last big snow, but you never know. We're just north of Philadelphia, and an inland storm is battling one just off the coast. All kinds of emergency warnings are out already.

Hope we don't lose power.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Hope it misses you Alicia, stay safe. Sounds good Kath, we have similar to Jim that we sometimes use for catering, have to say I'd rather have fish and chips.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Stay safe, Alicia.

Busy, busy day but the kids were lovely and I've managed to sort out what I'm teaching them next week.
We'll also be going on a field trip. Let's hope the weather is nice that day.

Quiz in a bit. Better get ready.

message 3257: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments Plumber is due (again) tomorrow. Hopefully he'll show up this time . . .

But it's got to be said, been here before, so not holding my breath!

message 3258: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments The fish and chip lunch was excellent! Better still, we (the gang) got to sit down and eat with everyone else and we were all finished and the hall locked up an hour earlier than usual. So why am I still shattered? Ah yes, the washing up!

No such luck: snowing hard, and expected to be 4-8" of wet, sloppy, hard-to-remove snow. Glad I don't have to go anywhere. Tomorrow will be warmer - hope it melts it all.

Stay off your foot if possible. I'm curious what the doctor will find after all your saga.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments We didn't win but we didn't lose.

It went on an hour longer than it should have.

Sums up most things in life, I reckon.

no washing up if you make them eat it out of the paper using their fingers! :-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments There's still washing up for the 5 million cups of tea.

message 3263: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Oh and Book Hippo had a cracking 'Maureen' drabble which ought to be shared by its author :-)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Ahhhhhhhh day off. Women's Day holiday.

I'm marking the occasion by doing laundry. Tsk.

message 3265: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Morning all. Nothing much to report. Going to work, coming home, going to work. The usual.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning, OH did go shopping yesterday (the dog needed eggs for his supper). No eggs, hardly any cheese, no milk, he did get a Hovis for toast, but there’s still none of that on the online order app. at Tesco. Was such a waste of time - I doubt he’ll ever go shopping again.
They are going to have a fight for the last two eggs, he wants a cake but the dog has an egg at bedtime. I know who is going to be unhappy.

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning all. Cold here, and the puppy has now learned to escape from his pen, so I'm trying to work out ways to stop him roaming the house at night until he's properly house-trained.
We can't lock him in the kitchen without upsetting him.

message 3268: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments We started plating up the fish and chips (cos we is posh, innit?) but people thought we should just serve them in the cardboard boxes. Insulating, and the portions were generous so a few people took some home. Village Hall recycling bin took care of the boxes. But yes, so much washing up. The sink is designed for much shorter people than I am. I had a backache all night.
Flower arranging this aft. Will the excitement never end?

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Morning all, day off thankfully, work are quibbling over my working from home last week! Off to the vet shortly for Lucy's annual MOT plus acupuncture. Then doing something with our friend from Malta, definitely eating out. Gel insoles arrived yesterday

Sorry you have snow Alicia. Glad the fish and chips went down well Kath. Sorry your shops still aren't stocked Lynne

message 3270: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments Morning everyone.

Lovely sunny day here although the snow is still lingering.

We had an unexpected bonus yesterday in the form of notification that we could get the cavity wall insulation done free due to the big six needing to offset more of their carbon footprint and avoid massive fines. Thought we'd missed the boat there - and apparently this isn't linked to having the loft insulated so we can retain the unfortunately needed storage space. (Xmas decs, suitcases etc.)

Strangely, when we went shopping on Monday, B & M still had the staples in stock, unlike Asda, Morrisons and M & S who share the same retail park. There was a note on B & M's door - but that was just to inform shoppers they'd run out of snow shovels!

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments He’s just walked up to my daughters and driven off to Morrison’s in my car. If there’s no eggs there’ll be hell to play. I told him to go to Lidl first, but he doesn’t do being told. He could have just walked to Lidl round the corner, I despair sometimes, I really do.

message 3272: by Lynne (Tigger's Mum) (last edited Mar 08, 2018 04:14AM) (new)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Got everything at Morrison’s but just checked my online order and there’s more & more struck off as unavailable. Shed loads of Easter eggs though.

message 3273: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments HEAT!! Plumber's been and gone, and everything's working like a good un. And it "only" cost £216! (he was here for a couple of hours, so I was expecting it to be more)

Bath night tonight!
(and before you say anything, yes I have been using the immersion!)

message 3274: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Great news, Tim! What a time to be without your boiler.

message 3275: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Good news indeed, Tim.

Not a lot happened here as I'v been a bit off the pace really.

message 3276: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments Hi all,

All moved I to the new place. Just gotta get the boxes sorted. So much nicer having a bit of room for all Dexter's things. Mostly so I don't end up standing on them all the time!

Glad your boiler is sorted Tim

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Must get new specs. I thought Will said he was off to a peace rally.
Happy for your boiler Tim. OH just ordered a fan heater for when they change ours later in the month.
Lindsay, the toys expand to fill the space available.

message 3278: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments Did you give Terry his dressing gown back, Tim? Seriously, your news is comforting!

Good luck in your new home, Lindsay.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Well, day didn't quite go as planned, was at the vet for nearly an hour and a half, did get a cup of tea though and she asked why I was limping and said that stress fractures don't always show on xrays, I may need an MRI. Unfortunately the limping while carrying the cat, and the position I have to stand in for her acupuncture has made my knee/hip sore. Had a nice meal and a wander round Hebden Bridge

So glad you have heat Tim, glad you are enjoying the new house Lindsay, seems you can always fill space when you get more!

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments My friends just got two firsts at Crufts they got the dog and the bitch class, the girlie has gone into the group and won working group 2. My pup’s Daddy and Auntie. Whoop whoop. Just watching on tv.

message 3281: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Am sick of travelling for work. Back home yesterday and in London again tomorrow. Think I am home all next week though until Sunday.

Glad you are enjoying the space Lindsay and that Dexter has room to spread out.

Haven't had fish and chips in years, Kath. Now I want some - with mushy peas.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning all. another spring like day in prospect :)
Network Rail still haven't managed to clear our line of snow - risk of avalanche in the cutting, so it's replacement buses to the next (mainline) station. The commuters are not happy!

mmmm fish and chips. You can keep the mushy peas tho

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Morning all, dry out. Not sure what we are doing after work.

Sorry you are still doing loads of travelling Kelly.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning, the foghorn is working overtime here, it sort of chimes so it’s not a bad noise. When my husband worked he liked the travelling better than the actually meetings, Kelly.
Have a good day all.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I don't think anyone likes meetings tbh Lynne. I find the best way of dealing with them is to chair them, and then at least they can be short!

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. Bit overcast in the valley, but nothing drastic. Looking forward to the weekend, however. Might even get to go the the beach this week!

message 3287: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Morning all!! Long time no speak!! I love that this thread (although no longer the Morning thread) still starts the day talking about the weather!! Is a bit overcast here but not wet (or white, thank goodness). I have even opened the window to let some fresh air in and is not too cold either! However, now the window is open all I can hear is the building site that we currently live next door too!
Have a day off today and meeting my friend and her new baby!! Can’t wait for cuddles!! Have a great day all x

message 3288: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning all. Relatively calm here going into the weekend - hope it's the same for all of you!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Hello, my lovelies.

Nice day with the munchkins but rather tiring.

Unfortunately, we've a busy weekend ahead, so not a lot of time to recuperate before teaching next week.

message 3290: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Hey! Welcome back Emma. x

Busy. Better than bored!

I'm never bored as long as I have my kindle.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Lovely to see you back Emma. My boss says he hates the amount of meetings he has, but he arranges an awful lot of them!! I used to enjoy them when we had them infrequently, but now they are weekly and we don't get refreshments anymore.

message 3294: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Morning all, this week's been hectic, was organising a Women's Day promotion on my books. Glad everyone is doing OK. Off to go write now - it's time for my daily half hour!

Cheers

pass on our condolences. A lot of us have walked this road and have experienced every emotion from sorrow, to guilt that we're relieved it's over :-(

My only advice is the practical, get more copies of the death certificate than he thinks he needs

message 3297: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Condolences to Dave, Patti. And I second Jim's practical advice.

message 3298: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I concur with both the condolences and the copies. It's a sad time.
