Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4836 comments Please accept my condolences for your loss, and will be thinking of you and Dave, and his dad, and the family, at this very difficult time. It doesn't get easier by knowing other people have been through it recently, but there are a lot of us who have. Sending virtual hugs.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments So sorry to hear that Patti, will be thinking of you both, and Dave's family

My heartfelt condolences to you and Dave and Dave's family.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Thanks for all the kind words, everyone.

Being away is difficult for Dave, of course. We're meant to fly back next weekend, so we'll keep to that rather than going early. Hoping to be able to arrange the funeral to occur during the two weeks we're there.

Feeling rather overwhelmed by everything at the moment.
Oh well. This too shall pass.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Morning all, got the dentist at 9.15, food shopping on the way home then a home visit. Raining here.

Do hope the arrangements fit around the time you are here Patti, will be one less worry.

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Morning all! Off shopping in a bit to get bits for our holiday! I hate shopping, especially for clothes! But seeing as we are going to my brothers wedding while we are away I kinda need to find an outfit!!

Patti, I hope the timing all work out for you guys xxx

message 3313: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Thanks.

I thought the first thing I'd have to do when get back is go clothes shopping but I found a funeral appropriate outfit this morning.
I need shoes, though.

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning everyone. Bucketing down out there, and I think it's affecting the internet - everything seems to be loading at a crawl.

I'm also currently, obsessively, knitting teddies. Don't ask!

I'd have thought wool could make for an uncomfortable teddy

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Sorry Kath. You're gonna need to explain yourself.

message 3318: by Kath (last edited Mar 10, 2018 08:06AM) (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Trauma teddies. Some police forces and fire services carry them in their vehicles to give to children who've experienced some kind of trauma. Domestic violence, a house fire. It could be the only toy they have till things get sorted out. Easy pattern and fun to make.

Edit - the best thing is, the pattern's simple enough to do while you're reading!

traumatic teddy as opposed to trauma teddy? :-)

But what a cracking idea Kath

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Homevisit went well, they are picking her up on Mon, nearly finished the housework. Going to my neighbours in a bit, we are going to play board games.

Aww, that's such a lovely gesture Kath.

message 3323: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Not my idea. I came across it on Facebook. The pattern. Then I googled it. The idea came from the Australian Red Cross.

message 3324: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments It really is a lovely idea!!
Very proud of myself today!! Went shopping (which I hate) and we ended up in the food court for lunch! Other half went for a Burger King, and I can’t tell you how much I wanted a big juicy burger! But I was good and opted for a jacket spud with tuna n cheese!
Well.... I have got to fit in this https://www.goodreads.com/photo/group... in September 😊😊😊 👰🏼

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments It's a rather good incentive Em!

Speaking as a churchwarden who sees more brides than most, it does seem that something happens to a lady on that day.
Even people who you would regard as a bit plain, when they're brides they somehow just sparkle. This isn't intended to be any sort of sexist comment, just an observation that there is something more than just a hairdo and professional makeup. It's as if the best bits of the personality rise to the top and show in the face.

message 3336: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Sounds yummy CeDany!

I'm partial to anything bacon!

Good morning!

Banananananana cake in the oven and a leg of lamb on the counter ready to roast.

If it wasn't for Monday following it, Sunday would be my favourite day of the week.

message 3337: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning! I think Balmoral chicken would have whisky in the sauce rather than whiskey. And a very good morning each. My sis is cooking tonight so I'm in the rare position of having absolutely no idea what I'll be eating.
Making bread and stuffing a teddy this morning.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Morning all, my daft neighbour popped a note through my door last night apologising for the dog barking, they had to go to A & E - she was still barking at 3.30am, I woke up at 6.15, medicated Lucy and dragged her back to bed (literally, she growls and tries to bite me, but then settles immediately!!), just getting back to sleep at 7 when the dog started barking again, so rather tired and headachy now. We are going to Poulton today for a meal with my neighbours family, have also got some charity admin to do.

Yes, it is a shame about Monday really Patti!! Enjoy your day everyone.

I'm ready for bed.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Not really sure why a uk forum would be confused by the Scottish spelling of whisky...
You might like the recipe threads CeDany. They’ve been a bit quiet of late

Got really figgy here now. The birds are singing their little beaks off though, they must think it’s spring.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Figgy? My mind is clearly stuck on food. (Not that I would eat a fig with those dead wasps in them). I meant to type foggy :)

message 3343: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments If I may put my nerd hat on for a wee while ...

Strictly speaking, "whiskey" and "whisky" are both correct British/ Scottish spellings. It is "whisky" when it is made from Scotland and "whiskey" when it is made anywhere else.

So a Scot might well refer to "whiskey" meaning a non-Scottish whiskey.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Evening all, managed to get my admin done before we went, had a lovely afternoon, although our regular venue was ruined by Mothers Day - despite having a set menu, they managed to get meat wrong on at least two tables! Slightly more worrying, the person on our table who was given pork rather than turkey couldn't tell! Decent price but food not as good as normal

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Shit Patti, I'm so sorry to hear that. His poor Dad too... Love to Dave and you. Thinking of you.

message 3346: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments But in a Balmoral chicken dish one is unlikely to use Bushmills or Old Tennessee sippin' whiskey.

message 3347: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Ah, Bushmills.
Is it too early for a God's Blessing?
I expect one now would set me up nicely for the day.

Just spent half an hour putting on full slap so Dave could take my photo for some documentation. Even lippy.

Yeah, that's coming back off before I leave for work...

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning all. My home turf was on Countryfile last night apparently, haven't seen it yet so will look for it on catch-up. Saw them filming outside the bike shop looking at the fat bikes a couple of weeks ago.

Whiskey is not whisky. That is all.
