I would suggest a red warning light in your window, but that might be misconstrued.

Darren Humphries (darrenhf) | 6903 comments Sofa chosen and ordered.

Would I like to pay the charge to have it delivered within the week on the day of my choosing or take the free delivery that will take anything up to three weeks?

I'll take the free.

The sofa will be arriving within the week and on the day that I probably would have chosen.

Maybe 2019 is the year that I get some good luck?

Nah.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12606 comments Still snuffly and was sore this morning, was glad of Lucy making me stay in bed, until her weight started pressing on my leg too much and made it uncomfortable. Did the cooking last night, but was then wiped out, so today I have to tackle the kitchen, then my usual Sunday chores, looking forward to a soak in the bath.

Don't blame you for going for free delivery Darren!

I might get some visitors though!

Work tomorrow.

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments Well, that appeared a short break. or perhaps it's me. Hope the term goes well for you both.

Good morning Reading World. Less cold today. That can't be bad, can it?

From whence did you purchase the resting appliance, Darren?

message 9308: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning (just squeaked in!) Been reviewing.
Sunny here. It looks gorgeous out - until you actually go out!

Groceries okay? That must be difficult when you get back and have to work right away.

You're in luck - I don't know how to upload photos to Goodreads.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments It’s rained here a bit today - wasn’t meant to, but it did. So I stayed in.

My sofas are 20 years old although I have sewed new covers for them and refilled the cushions a couple of times. So I suppose they’re a bit like Trigger’s broom really.

Glad you made it back safely Patti

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12606 comments Rained all day here too. Finally finished the housework, still getting drained easily and then Lucy kept sitting on me. Having a bath soon

My mother had the special shape living room couch we had in Mexico City reupholstered every time it started looking tacky. An open C, it fit the room. Many fond memories of that couch.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Morning all. It was a bit steely skied here today but I didn’t really notice as I spent the day detecting. Found some interesting bits. Thought for a giddy few minutes I’d found an ear spoon, but now I think it’s just a broken teaspoon. Oh well, can’t win ‘em all.

Glad the trip went well, Patti, glad the sofa shopping went well Darren hope the bath was relaxing Desley. My parents cat used to sit on my lap in the bath which was less than ideal!

Hellooooo! Jemima! (Waves).

Cheers

MTM

I've seen a lot of people with ear spoons in their lobes recently. Is that what you meant?

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Well, that’s the Christmas holidays done. Back to work for me tomorrow, and whatever fresh insanity the little darlings see fit to bestow!!

Been a pleasant final day of rest, with a walk by the sea and, dare I say it, a little writing. Oh well, back to the grindstone in the morning!

Its rather nice to be back at work. I've missed the kids.

Staff meeting this afternoon. I could do without that.

I think MT meant a Roman ear spoon, for removing wax. It seems to have been a popular hobby in those more simple days.

I was hoping for another dry day to do some more outdoor stuff. Haven't got one.

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. Dark and damp start in the valley this morning. I'd hoped for a colder crisper start to help me wake up, but sadly not to be. Still, nothing on the roster yet for me, so we'll have to wait and see.

message 9326: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, everyone. Dark start here as well - I could barely see the path under the trees on the way to the station.

message 9327: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning. It seems especially dark this morning here, I commented on it to the kids as we went downstairs.

Just realised that I forgot to take down one of the trees yesterday, the decorations are off it but just forgot to put the tree down :o)

Got the dentist today to get a filling *sobs*

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments My friend invited me to go to a chinese this evening. I think its her birthday today but not quite sure.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments This begs the question is there a phillippinewomenunofficial group. And why aren't they following you?

Morning all. Blowing an absolute hoolie here

message 9335: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning! Gaff, Amazon have just advertised Inquisitor to me. They know it's my kind of thing. They just haven't noticed I've read it and reviewed it!

Been out to the post office and it's not as cold as it has been. Not as warm as I hope it will be, though. Pretty dark.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Funny day here. Little lad off to full time school. I don’t know what he’ll make of staying there for lunch as he’s such a leisurely eater. Daughter in hospital for an op and she’s just texted me to say she’s last on the list and could be sent home if others have complications and it’s too late for her. Fingers crossed she’s lucky as arranging time off work etc isn’t easy and psyching yourself up for an op only to be sent home hungry and dehydrated after waiting all day must be dreadful.

perhaps they're contemplating following Tallis?
Mild and a bit drizzly here, not a lot of wind

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12606 comments Urgh, despite trying to stick to my normal routine while being off, it was very hard to get up this morning, traffic was horrendous, and clearly still wiped out from this cold, legs felt so weak by the time I got to my desk! Still a bit breathless too. Was drizzly when I set off, but then turned to fog, which only cleared about 11, although still drizzly. Have a meeting this afternoon though. Must ring the dentist, still slightly painful to eat.

When I had my front room done, I liked my sofa that much I decided to just have it re-upholstered – I bought it second hand over 10 years ago, think they decided from the model it must be around 20 years old. Hope your daughter does get her op today Lynne.

message 9339: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4841 comments Morning, all. Third day of gray skies - and I keep hoping for more rain. It is critical to build up the snow mass for next year's water needs.

I turn the water off in the shower when I don't need it, consciously avoid running the tap.

Picked paint colors yesterday. They want to apply it first, but you can't choose colors unless you have every other item chosen, because there are millions of paint colors. Actually hard to choose, as the options for everything else are limited, and don't always go together, so you have to learn to ignore a few dissonances.

To select with all the samples, I sat on the floor too long, and when I got up my body reminded me I really can't do that for very long any more. Spasms! Silly body.

I just want it over.

message 9340: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments Apparently women notice far more different colours than men, so your millions are probably just thousands to a male eye :-)
https://news.nationalgeographic.com/n...

message 9341: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4841 comments Still way too many to choose from.

I had a brainstorm: the samples are in colour families, so I first matched the flooring, and then found the lightest version of that for the walls. Came pretty close.

The painter won't care - he'll slap on whatever I say.

They are nice about it. If it's way wrong, they'll change it. Which of course delays moving.

I've seen apartments here which were all over the place in shades of white, from bluish ones to yellowish ones, and I thought it looked terrible, but the intended occupant signed off on it. Takes all kinds, I guess.

All of these capacities are probably on a spectrum, with a lot of overlap, so individual men and women could be better or worse at such tasks as decorating with colours. And few of us are still hunter-gatherers. Except at sales, of course.

It is. I sat for my brother to have an op and the same happened to him... twice. The second time they said his blood pressure was too high by the time he'd been waiting five hours....

Hope it all went well for your daughter.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Daughter did get her op, late this afternoon. It didn’t go as planned but because they had no beds she was sent home. Hope to goodness she’s ok overnight. Sent home bleeding is not acceptable but par for the Welsh NHS. It’s getting worse here.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Whoops, just missed morning. Good afternoon!

Pissing down here. Not complaining. It'll clean things up a bit. Mossies are gonna be horrendous, though.

We found a new noodle and dumpling place last night. So good!
About 20 metres from our front door...

Anna, if you live far enough north and stay up late enough you can see a sunrise in Summer :o)

Morning

I can't imagine living like that with water Alicia, I am conscious of not wasting water but it's not something we need to actually worry about here. Hope you get your colours chosen soon, I find decisions like that really difficult.

Hope your daughter is doing well this morning Lynne and there weren't any complications. What a shambles that they had to send her home still bleeding!

message 9348: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, everyone. Cold and windy up here.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Daughter said they nicked something but as they couldn’t keep her in she thought she’d be ok at home. She’s in bed at home now. One lady was sent to Swansea to have her op. Glangwili has no admissions as they have the norovirus so people were sent home and not operated on. We had a fantastic hospital but it’s being deliberately downrated and departments closed.
Little lad coped with full time school but said the dinner wasn’t as good as grandma’s cooking. Bless him.

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments Good morning all. Having an home day today, so making the most of it.

Yet another power cut at home yesterday. The third since New Years Eve. Every time it happens all our computer equipment shuts down, which is bad enough. However, when the power comes back on, it goes on and off again until, on the third or fourth time, it stays up. This plays havoc with the server and NAS boxes we have here.
