What are you doing right now? Part 2

Being in the U.S., I have no help to offer but needed to say wow! I am impressed that this issue has just come up if your MIL is 98 years old. She must be in pretty good shape (even if cantankerous) to have remained independent so long.

Yes she is a spitfire - she has a three-wheel electric scooter to drive around her village and up until this winter she was charging around at top speed - about 5 mph :-)

As Leslie said - sleet, snow, rain —-yuk

Sounds harrowing, I’m glad you made it home.
The snow looks beautiful here but I think it is heavy and hard on the trees.

Ruth, be careful. That does sound dangerous!

Spent the afternoon with three of my favorite girls, my youngest daughter, Annie, my baby granddaughter Rue and the pup Ona.

Also in Italy Spring doesn't want to come out; it is not snowing anymore as 15 days ago, but it's pouring with rain!

Yikes, hope everyone living in East America is safe. Today was the first day it felt like Spring, went for a meeting in my big winter coat thinking it was going to be freezing but it was nice and warm. I had to take my coat off.

Yes, both cities definitely aren't known outside of Italy I'm afraid. I even met some Italian people who didn't know where Macerata is! I think they are both quite nice :) I've been living in Pescara for two years and a half now and I love it!

There are cities like that everywhere, I think, and sometimes in their own countries. I have spent years here in the eastern USA saying I'm from near Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada) only to finally realize that people out here have almost never heard of they city of Vancouver, Washington, USA and they live in the same country. On the Canadian and American west coast (ie more than just California, for crying out loud ;) ) we all know about both so are often specific if we are outside of our local areas there.

I know of an ex colleague who lived for several years in Austria and some people kept thinking she was living in Australia...

Doesn't surprise me......... Pretty bad, huh?!

There are still people who think that Canada is part of the US. And when my son lived in Malaysia a lot of people there thought that Europe is a kind of US, and English the spoken language by everyone.
Oh well, and my mother always confused Malaysia with something else. Lol, I think she still doesn't know where her grandchild has lived for one year :D
What me concerns, I have to say that I live in this region since 14 years but I don't know all the places. So when people talk me about a place, I still have to ask where it is :/

Ruth, I sympathize!

In fact the common misconception that Israel is just desert and camels led to a website about Israeli technology being called 'No Camels'.

OMG.

Yes, in fact I find it funny and joke about it with my mother :D

I always say that to my husband: we should move to a city close to the see!!!

I usually say I'm from London rather than specify although now I'm near Oxford I could say that!
I really like hearing where people are from and have a good knowledge of Geography so I'm usually interested in the nearest city. If I haven't heard of it I'll google it as it's brilliant knowledge for pub quizzes!

Otherwise people assume that everyone English comes from London and as much as I love London that just irritates me.
When I have to say where I live in Italy, especially if I'm abroad, I usually say "Perugia, in between Rome and Florence", since very few foreign people know my city. Every now and then it happens that they ask me "Is Perugia close to Assisi?" - to which I answer, with a little parochial pride, "Assisi is close to Perugia!!!!"

Perugina Factory!!! Created by an exceptional woman - almost illiterate - at the end of the XIX Century, Luisa Spagnoli. Still bearing her name the dark chocolate bars, that to make cacke with WERE really great.
I'm saying were because since the late 80s the Perugina has been bought by Nestlè, and the quality of their products has terribly dropped.
Still the "Baci", their most famous chololate candy, are quite good, and a nice present to bring along!!!

The snow is coming down now, midmorning Tuesday. We had ~17 inches in the last storm and expect this one to be the same, though hopefully fluffier so it will be lighter for shovelling!
It feels like February and March reversed their weather :/

We visited the walled city of Perouges, France - the guide said it was probably settled by migrants from Perugia 800 years ago. He was a nice kid but I’m not sure he had his facts straight.

Btw, I don't know how many Windows phone users we have here. Well, I'm one of those and in these last months the apps, one after the other, stopped working or had always problems. I went to the shop to ask them what could be done, and they told me that Microsoft decided to give up on mobile phones, so they won't do any updates anymore. They will do only updates for security but not for functionality :/
A few days ago I have seen a good discount for a Huawei and I've read good reviews about it (it's the 9P Lite). I bought it but it's still in its box :-( I will have a hard time to get used to Android, I have never liked it.
Other Windows phone users in my same situation?

I don't want nor own a cell phone, so I am no help at all.

Diane, the Governor had asked people to stay home and for businesses to give their employees the day off and I guess it worked because there was not much traffic on the roads. I woke up tonight and my road is down to pavement. Bristol usually does a good job of plowing..They even have this little plow that plows the sidewalks. : )
